Lets you know when your jobs are taking longer than average and allows you to go back in history and find out what was happening at certain times
To be able to go back in history and find out what was happening at certain times is the most valuable feature of the product. Another thing that's good about the product is that it will let you know when your jobs are taking longer than average so that you can foretell that there's going to be an issue coming up. Your SQL agent job is taking longer.

Tool has transformed debugging of massive datasets and has improved data migration workflows
I think Toad for Oracle should create an academy for training youngsters on how to code and debug using the Oracle PL/SQL extension plugin and make it more intuitive, probably using gamification, because people learn differently. Some are kinesthetic learners, some are audio learners, some are visual learners, and some are audio-visual learners. Having a gamification aspect on Toad for Oracle where it explains how to code, debug, and gives young starters or new starters confidence and understanding of what to do and how to do it would help ensure that those wanting to get into coding have that flair, making them able to engage with using it effectively.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"To be able to go back in history and find out what was happening at certain times is the most valuable feature of the product."
"This solution has identified blocking, deadlock, memory pressure, and high CPU consumption issues."
"The blocking and deadlock report feature is very convenient to use in pinpointing which query is causing something and what other queries are waiting for it."
"Oracle has advanced query optimization and tuning features that help improve the performance of SQL queries."
"Toad for Oracle helps our developers improve code performance, and they have access to a visual hierarchy or tree for execution plans, which is very helpful for our development team."
"Overall, I am very satisfied with Toad for Oracle, but there are a few areas where it could improve."
"One of the most valuable features of Toad for Oracle is its ability to manage sessions by killing those that are hung or blocking other sessions."
"It is very easy to manage all of the objects."
"The product's most valuable features are UI and monitoring."
"The schema browser is the most valuable feature. The way it presents the objects in our database."
"The tool evaluates non-optimized queries and generates the queries in a way that is more optimal - in addition to giving us some good practices for code development."

Cons

"There could be some more metrics on the high availability to let us know when there are issues synchronizing between the hosts."
"If we can get details on wait types from system views, it will help identify a more detailed root cause."
"Toad for Oracle does not have a particular resolution within the application."
"The program can sometimes crash when many tabs are open, and I have to restore everything again."
"There should also be a better "cancel query" option as sometimes one cancels a query, but then it still might run for a long time, and then one has to crash Toad in order to cancel the query."
"It would be beneficial if Toad for Oracle could incorporate OEM features, as having monitoring capabilities in the same interface would simplify workload and management tasks."
"Sometimes it works in some areas, but in others, it doesn't. Like when you copy, you find that it's blank and doesn't copy anything. So, there are some objects that do copy, and sometimes they don't."
"Improvement wise, for the user it should show the minimum features on the screen and not all the features. Toad has a lot of features, but most users will use only 5 or 10 based on their role. Nobody needs all the features, and they should provide the option to choose only the required features. Only minimum requirements should be enabled by default. When all the features are shown, the performance is not good; it loads slowly and has hundreds of popups and unnecessary questions."
"The way the dialog boxes appear can be improved."
"There could be a tool for automated SQL query functioning."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's fairly expensive."
"The professional edition is about $1,000 AUD ($700 USD) and the developer version is about twice that much."
"The pricing is okay, it's reasonable."
"The product's pricing is just right because if it were slightly higher, it would not have been as widely adopted as it currently is in our organization."
"I would rate it six, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
"There are paid and free-for-use versions of the product."
"In my opinion, this solution is a little expensive, but I understand that good programs cost more money."
"My advice is to try to use the three-year maintenance agreement if possible."
"Toad for Oracle has a relatively high cost compared to other similar tools."
