Virtual patching has protected critical workloads and reduced downtime across financial environments
The best features Trend Micro Deep Security offers include virtual patching and comprehensive protection from multiple modules such as anti-malware, web reputation, firewall, integrity monitoring, and log inspection. It is very user-friendly, easy to understand, and helps us integrate multiple products with Deep Security. The user-friendly aspect and integration of Trend Micro Deep Security have helped my team significantly. For example, we can integrate our SIEM product, Active Directory, and multiple platforms. If an operations engineer cannot find something or forgets about a suspicious activity, we can identify the suspicious thing with the help of the SIEM. With Active Directory, we maintain our compliance, checking which server has Deep Security and which does not. By integrating these solutions, we effectively maintain compliance in our environment. Trend Micro Deep Security has positively impacted our organization because we have implemented it for multiple purposes, primarily for server security. It is installed on both multiple virtual and physical servers with minimal performance impact. It has been extremely stable throughout our usage, with no major disturbances.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Overall, I rate Sophos Virtualization Security a nine out of ten due to its ease of use, security, and customer support."
"I like Sophos Virtualization Security's built-in antivirus and malware protection. The firewalls are pretty stable. It's just a matter of updating the virus signatures, and they're pretty good about providing those updates regularly."
"When it comes to their firewall, it notified me about a possible infection."
"Using this solution allows us to set up rule-based access control."
"The most valuable features of the solution are VM security, VLP, and threat protection."
"I highly recommend Sophos Virtualization Security. I rate the overall solution ten out of ten for its excellent features and support."
"Technical support for this solution is nice and they have helped us."
"I like Sophos Virtualization Security in particular the virtual appliances built-in antivirus and firewall security and threat protection equivalent to the hardware appliances."
"Not only do these benefits reduce both capital and operational expenditures, but they also provide resource agility that promotes business innovation and growth."
"Very straightforward and very easy to implement."
"It's scalable."
"Support is very good. There is a portal where you can go to raise support tickets, and there are three phone numbers that we can use to reach support. We also have been assigned a technical account manager to who we can reach out to with anything critical."
"For server security purposes, I like the product's firewall."
"For the last four or five years we have not had any problems."
"It is a stable solution...The solution's initial setup was straightforward."
"Deep Security enables us to bridge the gap between patching windows using the Virtual Patching feature. This allows us to make sure full patching is tested properly in our testing environments before rollout."

Cons

"The solution would be improved if all of the advanced features were included in the SVM."
"In the virtual environment, the initial setup of Sophos Virtualization Security is not very straightforward and requires expertise, though in the physical environment, the installation is straightforward."
"I would like to see some new features for improving the security part of the solution. The firewall should be worked on to catch up with security."
"We are unable to reliably specify bandwidth limits for particular clients, which is something that needs to be improved."
"I wish Sophos could offer the solution at a lower price, but I doubt they will."
"Sophos Virtualization Security requires more usage. For example, if you have a virtual service line of 100 nodes, you are unable to deploy them from the console to a particular environment."
"The process of registering licenses for remote devices could be optimized as there have been instances where devices entered an unknown state."
"The working interface and the reports for non-technical people could use improvement. They are a bit scary."
"I would like to see better pricing. The pricing could be lower."
"There's a little room for improvement as far as being more concise with the error messages."
"It needs to improve its integration with a lot of other products."
"New patterns need improvement, as some new data access points are challenging to investigate and allow entry without detection."
"Sometimes the patching is a bit slow."
"Post-implementation is time-consuming. You have to do monitoring, and that takes time. After you set up everything, it's not a full-fledged implementation. You have to keep on monitoring and configuring."
"The implementation can be inflexible and not easy, as it requires knowledge of things like virtualization and administration on Windows."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For virtualization security, the cost is approximately $50 USD per seat."
"Depending on the subscription, the price ranges from $700 to $1,000. There's a subscription for the antivirus and malware and another that includes web and email. So you might need that extended subscription if you were housing an email firewall. Otherwise, you pay a flat rate for the firewall. It's not based on the number of users."
"The training needs improvement. It is expensive (classroom training), and it is often hard to find answers by yourself using the documentation."
"The tool's pricing is high."
"The cost is approximately six thousand Qatari Riyal ($1650 USD) per user."
"The AWS licensing model is scalable and easy to use, but could do with tiered discounts. I am not sure how well this model will scale when we start to use Auto Scaling with AWS resources."
"Most of it is annual at this stage."
"From a pricing perspective, I would say the product is economical...The payments are made on a yearly basis towards the licensing of the solution."
"CrowdStrike had an advantage over Trend Micro when it came to pricing. Trend Micro had several modules, so it was a little priced up, but CrowdStrike was not. However, even CrowdStrike has increased their price now, so probably both of them are on par, but the number of modules that Trend Micro has is far more than CrowdStrike. It comes with file integrity monitoring, application control, and web reputation. It has outbound URL protection, and it also has ransomware protection for servers, whereas CrowdStrike Falcon is a straightforward solution."
"If you want to scale the solution you will have to adjust the license."
