Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Considering the reporting part, I rate the tool a nine out of ten."
"This is a robust solution and I like that it's oriented to develop what we need in our ERP."
"Easy to use."
"There is a seamless integration with SAP S4HANA which is really valuable to our organization and its functions. Since the data is stored in the same ecosystem, it creates a simple process of building dashboards, without making the process cumbersome The Analytics Cloud provides standardized templates and storage options, making it easy to plug into existing structures. We're utilizing custom stories that have already been developed, streamlining the development process. It serves as a convenient starting point and contributes to the overall ease of development. Another advantage is that it doesn't provide the same level of calculation power as Power BI and Tableau. SAP Analytics Cloud emphasizes pushing analytics back into the database, recommending data manipulation and preparation outside of the platform. This approach is seen as an advantage, as it allows for more robust data handling."
"For report scheduling, I always prefer SAP because it has the most powerful scheduling features, like sending reports to more than 1,000 customers per day. That option is not as good in Microsoft BI and in Tableau it only exists as an add-on option."
"SAP Analytics Hub offers a user-friendly interface with effortless configuration, seamless updates, and real-time availability of information. It avoids the complexities associated with batch processing, providing a smooth and efficient experience."
"Seamless planning is equal to live data, and when using live data it is very helpful because I get the data up to date, I do not have to manually refresh it, I can perform all sorts of calculations on my presentation or calculation layer, and present it to the client with live data being fetched into the system, which helped greatly for BI capabilities and allowed me to create multiple reports and dashboards to understand the sales-related dynamics of the current business in real time."
"This tool is very useful; when I do my analysis there, the AI tool helps me a lot to understand the data and what I need to do."
"The product allows us to calculate the distributed cost across activities."
"Cube generation is a valuable feature."
"We use ABM as an expense allocation model and it has improved the awareness and accountability of the cost incurred due to the traceability feature."
"Helps to compare production costs across different departments."
"The product helped determine the organization's true cost of providing its products and services to customers."

Cons

"The platform could easily integrate with other ERP data solutions. Additionally, it should be faster compared to competitors in the cloud space."
"Regarding pricing, SAP has adopted a pay-as-you-go service model, which is good, but pricing is high."
"SAP Analytics cloud needs better exporting options."
"It's lacking a bit in maturity and we find we can't replace our existing mode 1 analytics tool until it's improved."
"There are dimension restrictions. The scope is limited to only five to six accounts."
"SAP could add more templates to the platform."
"It should have the flexibility for scoping the story and models. When you use it in a three-layer architecture, you struggle with the fact that you usually have just one SAP Analytics Cloud tenant, and you have to switch the connections, which might be an issue for bigger developments. For the development role, there should be an option to switch between development and production scenarios."
"I would also like to have more advanced features for predictive analytics."
"We experienced severe performance issues when the models created are getting more details and becoming more complex."
"It could be made much more simpler. Most of the time it looks like a black box for developers."
"The usability needs to be improved but bear in mind that we did not have the latest update."
"The data integration is very complex Visualization of the cost flow is not user-friendly It takes hours to build OLAP cubes to analyze the results of the model"
"The interface is poorly designed and could really use an improvement to compete with other comparable software."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"SAP pricing tends to be premium, so it is slightly higher."
"Compute and storage features should be sold separately."
"The product is expensive."
"The price is competitive. There is a power user license and normal user license, but the normal user license is reasonable."
"The product is expensive."
"Its pricing is okay as compared to its competitors."
"It Wasn't directly involved in the pricing discussions, but when I joined the organization, they had already purchased the SAP Analytics Cloud solution. The organization faced challenges due to its perceived expense, leading to restrictions on granting access to many users."
"It is not the most expensive one. You have to do the cost-of-ownership analysis and take a lot of things into consideration to come up with the conclusion that it is cheaper or not, but its price is reasonable. It provides value for money."
