Data projects have grown rapidly and support complex analytics and quick dashboard delivery
Some things that could be improved in Oracle Analytics Cloud is definitely the way it works. In some cases, for example, if you want to create analytic functions such as the percentage of a measure over another, which is a straightforward question you might ask, it appears simple to do, but the result is not what you expect. I would make it more user-friendly in terms of creating new measures. The measure creation feature could be improved. In terms of functionality, there are not many functions that are completely missing. There is one aspect that if you compare it with Power BI from Microsoft, which works completely in memory and therefore puts everything in memory to allow many calculations on the fly on what is in memory, that is missing, but it is architecturally different and would not be possible to ask for something like that. Some time features and time series analysis functions could be improved. Calculating a year ago and previous period functions could definitely work with some improvement.

Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Data preparation is fantastic and fast. We were able to use multiple data sources and prepare the data quickly."
"Oracle Analytics Cloud allowed us to deliver faster analytics and to have a self-secured, self-tuning, self-maintained platform."
"The best feature may be data flow, which is used to prepare and clean data."
"Oracle Analytics Cloud is not very user-friendly, however, it is robust and capable of performing a wide range of tasks."
"Technical support is very fast and accurate."
"The stability of the product itself by virtue of the fact that it's a cloud product and Oracle is responsible for its hosting is valuable."
"Analytics Cloud allows you to merge various data types and structure data from multiple sources."
"Using this tool, we were able to forget about using Excel and keep using it as the only source of data."
"Speaking about the biggest advantage of SAP Business Data Cloud from my personal experience, it provides correct answers based on real official data of my company."
"The best features of SAP Business Data Cloud include a very important capability that allows data sharing without moving data, which is a very useful option."
"The visualizations are quite eye-appealing."
"I have found that the feature to drag and drop widgets based on the data source, and import them into stories to be valuable. This way it helps the end user to create stories themselves."
"The user interface is quite good for developing reports out of models."
"The product's native integration with SAP ERP systems is particularly valuable."
"Seamless planning is equal to live data, and when using live data it is very helpful because I get the data up to date, I do not have to manually refresh it, I can perform all sorts of calculations on my presentation or calculation layer, and present it to the client with live data being fetched into the system, which helped greatly for BI capabilities and allowed me to create multiple reports and dashboards to understand the sales-related dynamics of the current business in real time."
"As a partner, I can mention something positive about SAP Analytics Hub: its products are tightly integrated, so the business context of data is retained in the analytics solution, and that's the main advantage."

Cons

"The scalability has room for improvement."
"It is less scalable than Snowflake."
"It is expensive."
"At this time, dataflows cannot be shared, but I think that this should be enhanced."
"The price of the solution could be lower."
"They could improve the ease of developing the dashboard and interacting with it."
"Sharing dataflows is not possible at this time, and the custom chart functionality is not available."
"The migration of older dash tools from the classic interface of Oracle BI prior to OAS launch to the newer Data Visualization and Oracle Analytics Cloud interfaces, including dashboards and metadata, is currently a cumbersome process. Improvements in this area would be highly beneficial. Additionally, the administration of the cloud, particularly the startup of services and linking of the WebLogic server and integrated components, takes longer than desired. In today's enterprise landscape, waiting forty minutes for the server to be operational is quite lengthy; ideally, this process should take a maximum of four minutes. It would be excellent to incorporate metadata management as an integral part of the Oracle Analytics Cloud. When dealing with integrated data from various sources, tracking data lineage and the entire data life cycle, from sources to report development and the mapping of reports to specific dashboards, should be seamlessly managed within the Oracle Analytics Cloud. This would eliminate the need for additional tools. Drawing a comparison, tools like Tableau have a feature enabling metadata management, making it easier to trace the complete data lineage of reports. Managing over seven hundred and thirty-six business dashboards, the metadata management capability within Tableau simplified the process of understanding how reports were developed, including details like associated tables, users, linked views, materialized views, data segmentations, ETL jobs, and the data warehouse stages. Enhancing metadata tracking within the Oracle Analytics Cloud layout would facilitate easy and practical management of the complete data life cycle, encompassing user accessibility and report permissions."
"If SAP Business Data Cloud could elaborate on some areas in the future, I could say insights are currently the default, representing your data into pie charts and chart patterns."
"Regarding pricing, SAP has adopted a pay-as-you-go service model, which is good, but pricing is high."
"The security, authorization, and live connection to the back-office system features can be improved."
"I expect more integration from SAP Analytics Cloud."
"I do not perceive any return on investment with SAP Business Data Cloud, as its performance in that area is exceptionally poor and shows no signs of improvement."
"Connection and integration with other applications have a lot of restrictions at the moment."
"I would like to have more tabular reporting capabilities, like page reports."
"Some of the standard visualizations, such as a speedometer or a goal chart, are not there and should be added."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We pay on a monthly basis and it is $10 per user each month."
"Oracle Analytics Cloud's pricing is generally higher than that of other vendors."
"It is an expensive platform."
"The tool's pricing is not unreasonable or non-competitive."
"A highly cost-effective solution"
"I don't know the exact cost, but its pricing was good. Its pricing was competitive. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of pricing."
"I rate the product's pricing a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"The price is reasonable; it's quite a bit lower than Tableau and Spotfire."
"Compute and storage features should be sold separately."
"Its price is slightly on the higher side."
"The pricing of this product is reasonable."
"The tool's pricing is medium, and licensing costs are yearly."
"It is an expensive solution."
"SAP Analytics can be very costly to license, which can make it difficult for organizations to implement."

"Its pricing is okay as compared to its competitors."
