Data projects have grown rapidly and support complex analytics and quick dashboard delivery
Some things that could be improved in Oracle Analytics Cloud is definitely the way it works. In some cases, for example, if you want to create analytic functions such as the percentage of a measure over another, which is a straightforward question you might ask, it appears simple to do, but the result is not what you expect. I would make it more user-friendly in terms of creating new measures. The measure creation feature could be improved. In terms of functionality, there are not many functions that are completely missing. There is one aspect that if you compare it with Power BI from Microsoft, which works completely in memory and therefore puts everything in memory to allow many calculations on the fly on what is in memory, that is missing, but it is architecturally different and would not be possible to ask for something like that. Some time features and time series analysis functions could be improved. Calculating a year ago and previous period functions could definitely work with some improvement.

Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution can scale."
"Technical support is very fast and accurate."
"It's robust. It has the ability to handle massive amounts. After reporting has been developed, there is an ease of use or a user-friendly interface for a trained workforce."
"The technical support is excellent, and they respond quickly."
"The specific capability I find important in Oracle Analytics Cloud is that it allows the basic user to easily drag and drop data."
"A valuable feature is the speed of the solution."
"Data preparation is fantastic and fast. We were able to use multiple data sources and prepare the data quickly."
"Oracle Analytics Cloud is not very user-friendly, however, it is robust and capable of performing a wide range of tasks."
"I like the connectivity the solution provides with other products, as one can see different data sources, such as SAP ERP and the in-house hub, create a business warehouse, and import multi-dimensional data from flat files and various sources."
"We switched to SAP Analytics Cloud primarily for the planning, development, and the user-friendliness."
"If 85-90% of your data comes from SAP, then it's the best solution."
"It offers good backup capabilities."
"The product seems very secure, it seems very stable, I've had no issues, there are no bugs or glitches, and it does not crash or freeze."
"The visualizations have been the most valuable feature."
"Revenue has increased because of SAP Business Data Cloud, as we are gaining more traction and business."
"SAP Analytics can be used as an all-in-one source; it can bring everything together: BI, predictive, planning, simulation — it can combine all of this into a single user interface."

Cons

"As with most BI tools, the visualizations can be made much nicer."
"This product does not support custom charts in the visualization."
"The migration of older dash tools from the classic interface of Oracle BI prior to OAS launch to the newer Data Visualization and Oracle Analytics Cloud interfaces, including dashboards and metadata, is currently a cumbersome process. Improvements in this area would be highly beneficial. Additionally, the administration of the cloud, particularly the startup of services and linking of the WebLogic server and integrated components, takes longer than desired. In today's enterprise landscape, waiting forty minutes for the server to be operational is quite lengthy; ideally, this process should take a maximum of four minutes. It would be excellent to incorporate metadata management as an integral part of the Oracle Analytics Cloud. When dealing with integrated data from various sources, tracking data lineage and the entire data life cycle, from sources to report development and the mapping of reports to specific dashboards, should be seamlessly managed within the Oracle Analytics Cloud. This would eliminate the need for additional tools. Drawing a comparison, tools like Tableau have a feature enabling metadata management, making it easier to trace the complete data lineage of reports. Managing over seven hundred and thirty-six business dashboards, the metadata management capability within Tableau simplified the process of understanding how reports were developed, including details like associated tables, users, linked views, materialized views, data segmentations, ETL jobs, and the data warehouse stages. Enhancing metadata tracking within the Oracle Analytics Cloud layout would facilitate easy and practical management of the complete data life cycle, encompassing user accessibility and report permissions."
"Its machine learning and visualization capabilities can be improved. There should be more visualization options."
"The price of the solution could be lower."
"When you want to scale up and improve the computing power, it becomes extremely costly."
"It is less scalable than Snowflake."
"At this time, dataflows cannot be shared, but I think that this should be enhanced."
"I would like to have more tabular reporting capabilities, like page reports."
"It still lacks a lot of functionalities as compared to other tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Sorting is not working as well as it works in Tableau. A lot of other things are also not at the same level. Their technical support is not perfect and could be better. It takes a lot of time to have lacking functionalities implemented. Its integration with the BW backend should be better. Both solutions are from the same vendor. They position SAP Analytics Cloud as a reporting tool on top of the BW environment, but the integration between both is not yet 100%. For example, user management is still not synchronized."
"The security, authorization, and live connection to the back-office system features can be improved. A business analyst colleague who creates complex financial management reports has mentioned that he wants to see more fact and visualization features. It would be helpful to have more visualization features to be able to prepare more stories or reports for executives. For example, Tableau has some visualization features that are not present in this solution."
"It seems like there's a problem with the tool's licenses. If there are a lot of users, like 200, who only use the solution once a year, paying for a full-year license for each user is expensive. There's no option for users who only use the solution occasionally."
"There are dimension restrictions. The scope is limited to only five to six accounts."
"If the application has many pages or a page with more charts, it tends to load slowly."
"Technical support could be more helpful and responsive."
"SAP has always had one problem with its products, they make them very closed systems that are difficult to integrate."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is reasonable; it's quite a bit lower than Tableau and Spotfire."
"A highly cost-effective solution"
"We pay on a monthly basis and it is $10 per user each month."
"Bottom line, the cost is really, really cheap compared to other solutions. Oracle has made a huge effort on the pricing."
"I rate the product's pricing a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"The product’s pricing is expensive. However, feature-wise, it fits the requirements of enterprise customers."
"The tool's pricing is not unreasonable or non-competitive."
"I would rate it a five out of five in terms of the value received for the price charge."
"The pricing is based on an annual license and is rated a four out of ten."
"The product is expensive."
"They are pursuing a highly assertive approach to target businesses of all sizes within the industry."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is a bit higher [in price]. Because, if Microsoft can afford a better product and lower cost, SAP can afford at least the same, or even lower."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is expensive. The price is a big issue if you compare it with other solutions from different vendors."
"It's not that costly as such for the time being."
"The premium option is very expensive at five thousand dollars. I use the nine hundred and ninety-nine dollar option."
"Its licensing is on a monthly basis."
