Integration processes improve but scripting requires effort
The updates, pricing part, and upgrades to the products are some of the most valuable features with the Salesforce Platform. With the Salesforce Platform, I have minimal experience of approximately one and a half years. I get minimal exposure, once every three or two months, especially during holidays. The Salesforce Platform is connected to the cloud, which is beneficial. When it is integrated with different tools such as Microsoft BI Analytics, it helps us analyze much better. Currently, the integration itself is tricky as we have to use extensive scripting. It should be more of a plug-in and use solution. That is the only issue I see, but otherwise, I appreciate it.

Offers a robust set of tools for developing, deploying, and managing mobile apps securely and efficiently
In a recent project, we integrated SAP Mobile Platform with various SAP systems. Most companies store their data on-premises or in SAP systems. Our task was to sync this data with the mobile platform hosted in the cloud. We used integration tools to connect seamlessly with these on-premises systems, ensuring data synchronization. Additionally, we connected to satellite systems like Jira for specific functionalities such as ticket management, requiring robust integration capabilities. The security model of SAP Mobile Platform has positively impacted our mobile applications by addressing initial reluctance and highlighting its suitability for certain tasks like approvals and on-site data entry, especially for industries like oil and gas, utilities, and manufacturing. This enables remote approval processes and real-time data entry, improving efficiency and accessibility for users who are not always at their desks. SAP Mobile Platform supports our cross-platform mobile app development needs by enabling the conversion of SAP transaction codes into mobile-friendly interfaces. This allows users to access SAP functionalities from their mobile devices, increasing flexibility and productivity, especially for departments like sales who need to input data on the go. Overall, I would rate SAP Mobile Platform as an eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"What functions we don't get out of Salesforce, we typically receive from third-party applications that extend the capabilities. We integrate a lot of different products with Salesforce."
"Salesforce is the best one out there."
"The process and the workflows are amazing."
"The most valuable features of the Salesforce Platform are the ability to manage customers' data, many report filtering options, and consolidation."
"The most valuable features are quick customization, solid deployment processes, and excellent reliability."
"We like that the technology is very agile and flexible in the sense that there's a large partner ecosystem within Salesforce Platform. This enables us to choose from many different partners with different advantages, and all of it can be done in a plug-and-play kind of way."
"I love the report building that is available."
"he solution has improved over the years and the inputting of opportunity information is done a lot better and the GUI is good. The ability to customize dashboards and other elements was useful, we were able to move things around, for example, the forecasts. Most of the cells and input places were set, but we can customize the view and what we were looking at, such as on a daily, or weekly basis."
"Two of the very fascinating features that make SAP Mobile Platform stand out from other platforms are its offline capability and integration capability."
"It's not that difficult to set up."
"The initial setup is not overly complex."
"Both platforms, the SAP Mobile Platform, and SAP, are highly valuable for our company because they facilitate integration, which can be expensive. It's very convenient to connect and create billing accounts through the SAP Mobile Platform."
"Technical support is helpful."
"If we work with the mobile extension of the ERP platform, we save time."
"One valuable feature of SAP Mobile Platform is its enterprise-grade standard and maintained APIs, available out of the box for easy integration with various systems."

Cons

"In terms of features, for our business needs, we have more than enough right now. There is nothing that we are missing or would like to add. They can maybe share some best practices so that when you are starting, you can stick to a good process, and you don't have to think so much about the process that you want or your CEO or CMO wants. The process should not be based on one person in the company. Having some best practices will make it easier to get started. These best practices can be based on what has worked for others. Its basic version is pretty simple, and the customizations are up to the companies, which can make startups like ours lose a lot of time in figuring out what all stakeholders want rather than what would work."
"Salesforce Platform could improve by having better integration with Microsoft Azure. For development, we use Microsoft Azure and there was proper integration between the two solutions. We had issues with the customer and they were logged into the Salesforce Platform. We did not have any good way of integrating those issues into the R&D. The R&D mainly uses Microsoft Azure."
"Salesforce could improve by adding more capabilities to the dashboard, such as additional fields for more filters and more control over what I would like to see."
"The reporting functionality is not very intuitive."
"The management of Salesforce could be quite a task. Old and unusable contacts can add up over time. If I could wave a magic wand, it would be to initiate a self-cleaning feature."
"The general reports could be made easier in the Salesforce Platform. Generating needs extensive training to know the exact structure of the design. Whenever you search for something you need to know what are the exact fields that you need to view. It's not an easy process to learn."
"I would like to see the organizational details improved to make it less difficult to bring new clients on board."
"The solution offers upgrades at a slower pace. The solution needs to keep up with competitors."
"The cost of the SAP Mobile Platform is high, and there is room for improvement in its pricing."
"The licensing model is a bit dated."
"SAP has announced that they'll be ending the support on the SAP platform."
"The toolkit to develop front end applications, especially native applications, is not that good."
"If it was low code or no code it would be ideal."
"The tool is not easy or simple to integrate with other infrastructures."
"One drawback is that SAP Mobile Platform apps are only available through the browser, making offline capability more challenging to implement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing and license differ and depend on how much license you are purchasing from them."
"It is very expensive. Its licensing is on a monthly basis."
"I rate this solution a six out of ten for pricing. Though the solution is on the pricier side, it still offers good value for money."
"The cost of this solution depends on negotiations. It is somewhere between expensive and reasonable. There is always additional costs for consulting services. It's the kind of solution that requires consulting, but it is not a licensing cost. It is a consulting cost. It is CAPEX versus OPEX."
"It is quite expensive. Its developers come at a premium cost, which makes it expensive."
"The solution is a bit expensive."
"The licensing is on the expensive side, but most clients engage in negotiations to reach a more favorable agreement. For stand-alone or medium-sized clients, it can be relatively costly."
"It is expensive."
"If you already paying for an SAP license and have SAP products that you are using, the price for SAP Mobile Platform is negligible."
"The tool is expensive. I rate the tool's price as an eight or nine out of ten."
"The cost of SAP is extremely high, and it's not affordable for everyone."
