Has consistently delivered high performance and aligned security while evolving with AI-driven improvements
When discussing Oracle Exadata, the main thing is the specialized database appliance, the flash cache, and the engineered machine on the database for the database itself. Overall, all the features are useful and meaningful for any database like Oracle to run the Oracle database. Regarding Smart Scan technology, it is for better performance. If a customer cannot tune their applications, this will help them to run the database and run the application without any tuning itself. Oracle Exadata's advanced compression techniques have affected my customer's data storage efficiency positively, with the feature being great, but as of now, our customer is not using that. I find its security measures align with my customer's organization, as security is aligned as per the customer's requirement. It has helped optimize performance and cost.

Standout features are real-time dashboards and powerful aggregation
This product has a powerful aggregating feature which is great. It also has its own APIs. Whenever the data comes in, it can be streamed out anywhere. It's the only solution that provides real-time dashboards. Tableau doesn't have this feature. The three variants of historical data, real-time data and predicted data from Spitfire, give more strength to LiveDatamart without any dependency on other products. The product is easy to set up with very low maintenance required.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like its reliability."
"Oracle Exadata's performance is one of its best features, and we are very satisfied with it."
"The business intelligence is very good."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Exadata is the storage available."
"After moving to Oracle Exadata, we were able to add more users, and queries get executed very quickly for data warehousing, around one quarter to half the time when compared to our previous solution under normal conditions."
"Oracle Exadata is stable."
"The most significant gain was in the area of performance, as performance increased significantly both for OLTP and batch works, and we also saw a significant decrease in IT operations because the necessity of SQL tuning and the total work spent on administration operations decreased."
"The main benefit is that everything is powered by Oracle; the whole box, hardware, software, and storage, so we have the flexibility of going to one vendor directly instead of going to multiple vendors if we have any issues."
"The three variants of historical data, real-time data and predicted data from Spitfire, give more strength to LiveDatamart without any dependency on other products."
"The solution is mature and stable, even more so since it was acquired by TIBCO."
"You can create your own rules that include mathematic calculations."
"The solution has a powerful aggregating feature"

Cons

"I think the patching is still lacking quite a bit."
"Initial set-up was a bit complex, but everything was resolved pretty quickly."
"General perception from many customers is the cost and maintenance of Exadata Database Machine. Although Oracle recently introduced low cost storage and automated many features, still the cost and maintenance is a concern."
"I don't think it's so scalable because Exadata is a box."
"It's very specialized hardware. It really meets very critical needs, but it is very expensive."
"The performance could be improved."
"Customer Service: It is good and sometimes we don't get exact recommendations even though we give all details but it was satisfactory."
"In the case of engineered systems like SuperCluster/Exadata, the patching has to go through the support team and there is definitely room for improvements in this area."
"Live Datamart runs on JVM which only holds Java and only 60 GB of data. If you try to get more out of it than that, it crashes."
"The solution's setup could be quicker and easier."
"Improvements need to be made on the load balancing side."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the tool's pricing a nine out of ten."
"We pay for an annual license and it is expensive."
"The price of Oracle Exadata is competitive. There are some features that are outside of the initial purchase license, such as some monitoring packages."
"The price of Oracle Exadata is expensive. It is not competitive with other solutions some of the times."
"Our customers are always looking to reduce the license's cost."
"The solution takes a lot of time to clone the environment. I would like to see some improvement in the cloning support or the time it takes on the storage side."
"You have to pay for the storage and the database in Oracle Exadata. It cost a lot, but it is worth it. It would be a benefit if we could reduce the price for the number of CPUs and extend the memory."
"The price of the solution has been expensive to implement."
"The solution might be considered a bit expensive because it competes with open-source products."
