Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The initial setup is straightforward. It is easy to track and easy to follow.""New Relic has helped us in terms of the optimizing our print and loading times.""The most valuable feature is the ability to manage the application flow.""It has helped my organization to dive deeper into the application using the APM module is very helpful.""The simplicity of the dashboard is very good.""End-user Synthetics and monitoring are very good.""To me, the most valuable feature of New Relic APM is the traceability, mainly based on the time travel method, so you get the overall response time, which is pretty helpful for developers and ADR techs looking into issues on a deeper level. New Relic APM is a very good, tailor-made solution.""They instrument up from the bottom to the top – every piece of code - they have a very perfect read of what’s being done, and how long it’s taking."

"For banking and telecom solutions, it's been quite useful.""The diagnostics and configuration are the solution's most valuable aspects.""The most valuable feature of Micro Focus Diagnostics is the information reported from an application that has timed out. For example, when you're Googling, or you're booking a ticket for Burj Khalifa here, the longest tower in the world, there are situations where the system can time out. There are times when you might not receive a response on the payment gateway or you are not able to find the reservation. The customer only receives the information that the session has timed out."

Cons
"New Relic APM could improve error debugging and the correlation with the logs. We are receiving some alerts or alarms but we need to correlate with the error log, but it is difficult if it is more than seven months retention period, it is hard to trace. We need this especially for getting historical information.""The initial setup can be made easier. Like Mixpanel, New Relic can also have a step-by-step guide for the setup process.""They should bring the pricing down to be more competitive.""In addition, its difficult to have a predictive tool to see how the application would behave in the future when it basically only shows the historical data.""It would be nice if there were pre-made dashboards.""The deployment process could be improved.""Some AIOps are missing in New Relic APS, and I would like to see more features in this area.""It is complicated, especially in how you interpret the data that it provides. If it had a bit more canned, out-of-the-box features, especially some of the reporting features, that would be more useful."

"The interface is very old, and not very user-friendly. Most of our clients don't like the UI.""The GUI and metrics of Micro Focus Diagnostics can be improved. The metrics the solution gathers can be limited and could be enhanced by giving more details.""The interface could be more user friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "New Relic is either free with low retention and minimal functionalities, or expensive with full options and retention."
  • "The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
  • "Cost is significant with a lot of extras."
  • "It would be nice if we could buy it annually instead of monthly."
  • "If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
  • "I recommend using the free version of New Relic. If you like the free version and understand its importance for your company, you can move to the trial. Then, you can migrate to the paid version."
  • "There is a picture which goes to your browser and it monitors requests from other users. However, it's impossible to use now because the price is very high. The feature is very nice, but I tried it during the trial period, and the current price makes it impossible to use."
  • "They gave us aggressive discounts when they were brought in for the first time, but they have also kept them for the year-on-year renewals, which has been absolutely fine."
