Cloud gateway has strengthened remote web security and now needs better Mac and ISP support
The problem our organization had is that iboss failed for the Mac devices. It is not able to give a successful agent for the Mac agents. That is where in 2025, we had to migrate to the Palo Alto-based platform. If your use case is for just Windows laptops, you can consider this platform as an option One issue is the data center resiliency part. In India especially, they are not tied up with the Tier 1 ISPs like Tata or Airtel; they were having Tier 2 ISPs and encountered many issues reaching few major sites that my organization depends on, and they were having problems that they could not fix quickly. They also lack a mechanism to route that traffic within their data center; rather, they ask customers to make a pac file change to route it to Singapore explicitly. It would be better if they route from their backend , i mean even if I send it to India DC, they should be able to route it internally to make that work; however, they fail to do that and ask the customer to route it in the pac file. Another suggestion is that in China, they do not have the proper setup; they used to have numerous problems with slowness and lack of premium circuits in China as well. That leads to multiple sites working slowly with latency-related issues. So the main issue is the ISP-related problems that need to be solved.

Easy to set up, stable, and helpful for integrating the systems that require a fast and reliable connection
They can provide hardware for specific use cases because some of the NetFoundry solutions don't have the hardware. Currently, they're more into software, but some of the clients want a single brand instead of having multiple vendors. So, if they can offer hardware as well, it would be good. If they have a firewall capability, that would be good. Currently, because they don't have a firewall, we are required to put another layer of control on top of their solution. A built-in firewall would be quite good. Their technical support can be improved. There should be a better handover of a case from one support person to another.

Integrated security and connectivity have simplified customer offerings but still require stronger market positioning and maturity
So far, none of my customers have delved into much detail about Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform's threat intelligence capabilities because it's more of a focus on manufacturing and small and medium enterprise organizations, and the basic security and threat landscape is what they have been more keen on. I assess Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform's real-time analytics and machine learning for improving threat detection as pretty common nowadays, so that is not a differentiator anymore. I cannot think of areas where Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform could be improved as of now. I cannot analyze additional features I would like to see in the next release of Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform at this point, because whatever functionality is offered at this moment is something that I have not been able to sell completely to the end customers yet. They could promote Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform more because when we talk of SASE, it's Prisma that comes to the customer's mind, and if they can position it in a more aggressive manner, it will certainly help them. The advantage that Palo Alto SASE has is because Palo Alto is a born-in-security organization, which gives it an edge; Versa is still conceived as more of a networking-related organization, so their footprint on security is still to be proven at par with Palo Alto in that sense. I agree that Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform is not mature enough yet.

"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is in the cloud."
"The Network as a Service that they offer is most valuable."
"This integration between SASE and SD-WAN is beneficial, as we have tested it with various customers."
"The flexibility is a great feature."
"The initial setup is simple."
"The solution is stable and suitable, and we have been using it for a number of years."

"Overall, it's nice and very user friendly."
"The accuracy and reliability of Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform is 99.9% and we are not observing any challenges or facing any issues during the production hour of this product."

Cons

"The easiest device I have set up was the Barracuda line of products."
"I would like to see simpler dashboards, more detailed reporting, and faster performance in iboss."
"File integrity monitoring would be very advantageous as an additional feature."
"The dashboard management feels complex in our organization, so simplifying the management dashboard would be beneficial."
"I appreciate that iboss's single pane of glass console gives centralized visibility into web traffic, user activity, security policies, and alerts from one dashboard, allowing us to quickly investigate incidents and monitor policy violations without switching between multiple tools, improving operational efficiency; however, the dashboard customization and reporting could be more flexible."
"Regarding pricing, setup costs, and licensing, iboss is not cheap, and that's my only concern."
"I would rate iboss an eight out of ten because it provides strong cloud-based security threat protection, centralized policy management, and visibility into web traffic. I would give it a higher rating if automation, reporting, and troubleshooting capabilities could be improved further."
"The reporting feature needs improvement. It doesn't give you the expected results. It is quite difficult to get the specific reports needed, and it is not as intuitive as the rest of the platform."
"If they have a firewall capability, that would be good. Currently, because they don't have a firewall, we are required to put another layer of control on top of their solution. A built-in firewall would be quite good."
"The solution could provide internet access control."
"I agree that Versa Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Platform is not mature enough yet."
"The support needs to be improved."
"Versa provides analytics, but the reporting features have some shortcomings."
"Another thing that should be improved in Versa are their firewall features."
"The tech support does not have familiarity with its product. They could be more knowledgeable."
"The solution's initial setup is complex in that it's not plug-and-play."
"The security should be improved."
"They have launched Versa Secure Access (VSA), but it is currently immature."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have not priced the solution recently, but they were competitive with other vendors in the past."
"We had the cost of purchasing a new appliance along with the implementation and licensing costs. However, the following year, the cost of just licensing was similar to what was paid the previous year for a new appliance along with the implementation and licensing costs."
"It is expensive compared to one of its competitors."
"It is not expensive, and it is also not cheap. iboss is priced right in the sweet spot for the number of features it offers."
"It is probably in line with other solutions, but I do not deal with the financial side."
"The overall pricing for iboss is very competitive and transparent."
"The price is very reasonable compared to others and the cloud service is free."
"I don't have the cost, but in terms of its management viability, it is acceptable for most of our clients. It seems quite fair."
"While I cannot provide too much commentary on the price, I feel it to be fair for the moment."
"It is neither cheap nor expensive. I rate the pricing a five out of ten on a scale where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"I find Versa a little more expensive than VMware in terms of remote access and secure web gateway elements."
"It is not very expensive because of the white box support. Its hardware is much cheaper than other products. With the support for x86 and white box, it is one of the most cost-effective platforms that are currently available."
"We provide subscriptions for our customers on a yearly, not monthly, basis."
"Price wise, it's more expensive than is the competition. I would give pricing a rating of three out of five."
"The price is expensive but it makes sense for the market."
