Simplifies setup and requires user interface enhancement
Nagios XI is easy to install, which sets it apart from other open-source solutions I've tried. Typically, setting up a monitoring system on Linux involves cloning files from GitHub, building it, and installing many dependencies, but with Nagios XI, it wasn't like that. Nagios XI simplifies our setup and reduces the time spent configuring monitoring tools.

Cost effective but when we originally purchased LANGuardian, some features needed further development.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Nagios is an open source monitoring tool for monitoring network services, with easy installation, a user-friendly and configurable interface, and the ability to monitor disk space, CPU utilization, memory usage, host availability, NFS availability and many other things, making it widely used in IT markets."
"The solution has a lot of plugins and scripts integrated with it."
"The installation is no problem. I've installed Nagios several times."
"The product allows comprehensive monitoring of your environment, from basic monitoring of your servers health to more complex tasks like AD, database, and, to some extent, application-level monitoring."
"Nagios XI simplifies our setup and reduces the time spent configuring monitoring tools."
"Nagios XI is a simple monitoring tool with performance management and everything a standard monitoring tool provides."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its simplicity."
"I really found Nagios a perfect fit for us and a good product to work with."
"Our CIO asked us to track down the source of undesired uploads, which trigger e-mails received by outside bodies regarding what they refer to as "copyright violations", and Languardian was the most efficient and effective tool for the job."
"If you are looking for a solid solution that can be easily deployed then I'd recommend considering Netfort solutions."

Cons

"I would like a much easier GUI so that I can delete events and logs, which will free up a lot of space."
"The product does not have SAP monitoring."
"It is really difficult to integrate Nagios XI with another system to generate logs and alert our management of failures in security infrastructure."
"Nagios needs to improve their incident manager. Currently, it isn't good for ITIL in my opinion."
"The pricing has recently risen. I know they've changed what is covered under the license, however, it doesn't change the way we use it and adds nothing to our experience, and yet we now have to pay more."
"If you are monitoring network devices, often it's not scaled for large corporations. Definitely, a minus in that area."
"The interface could be more user-friendly."
"They need to develop a better integration with a common ticketing system will be great."
"It takes a long time to load results. I think it would be great if they fix the slowness issue in the next release."
"Sure, at the time we bought the product, the GUI and graphs/reports/pie charts etc ... were not fully developed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is high with separate licensing for the product and support."
"Nagios XI is open source."
"The licensing fees for this solution are approximately $3,000 USD per year."
"You can grow into the higher-priced scale as they learn how to utilize the features for Nagios XI."
"The pricing is really cost efficient. The licensing is perpetual and can be renewed very easily."
"As it is not an agentless tool, I think it is expensive."
"It is good to contact experts for advice about what is the best solution for your specific infrastructure and enterprise."
"Nagios Core does not have any payment, but Nagios XI requires payment for the license."
