Room for improvement in data handling leads to enhanced cost-effective data management performance
It would be beneficial if MongoDB Atlas could better support OLTP aspects and data frames, as well as enhance its capabilities for data pipelines and visualization dashboards. Furthermore, supporting the medallion architecture could be a valuable addition, and incorporating improved spatial and vector handling for geographical data could make it more competitive. Enhancing vector processing for AI capabilities would also be critical.

Flexibility and performance meet real-time analytics but documentation needs improvement
Currently, we don't have any AI-driven features, but that's something we are exploring. SCC is one of the computers, and we are looking into Machine Learning and predictive analytics from the user-base perspective. Regarding SAP HANA Cloud, one significant pain point is the lack of access to the database from the HANA Studio for developers. HANA Studio allows us to work with tables, whereas with SAP HANA Cloud, there isn't direct visibility of any tables. Documentation is another concern. There isn't much documentation compared to what we used to get in the past, including best practices. In the last few years, their documentation has not been up to the mark at all.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Object-based data storing capability and managing non-structured data capability are the most valuable features of MongoDB Atlas."
"It's flexible. We don't need to have a solid upstream availability failover, and everything is seamless in Atlas."
"The product is simple to use and enterprise-ready. It is also open-source."
"As a tester, it was easy to validate data, access data, make active run queries against it, and retrieve data from it."
"I find MongoDB Atlas highly scalable and easy to use, with very good support."
"The most useful feature is the management of the backup."
"The product is user-friendly."
"The most valuable feature is that it's all web-based. So one can browse collections just from the web. MongoDB Atlas is very accessible, quick to understand, and quick to learn. People who have never used CLI can hop into the web interface and browse the database."
"I would rate SAP HANA Cloud nine to ten out of ten."
"Using SAP HANA Cloud, we can replicate the data into HANA and use live data, which improves our business decision-making."
"The best features of SAP HANA Cloud are that its software is effective because it has tight integration between other functions, such as finance, materials, and sales."

Cons

"Searching and browsing through the collection must be made easier."
"The import and export process needs improvement, i.e., getting in and out. Moving data from other databases into MongoDB, along with indexing, was challenging."
"The cost needs improvement. The product is good, but the cost that we paid for it is expensive, so it wasn't that valuable."
"I would like the solution to offer more integration capabilities since it is an area where the solution lacks."
"The price of the solution should be reduced."
"I am still new with it, but since I mentioned that I'm using this product for only the last six months and my experience with this product is good thus far, on a scale of one to ten, I would give MongoDB Atlas a six."
"The product does not have ORM."
"I would like a more comprehensive dashboard."
"The technical support from SAP is inadequate. We don't get timely responses, with support tickets taking more than 25 days to process."
"I see some weaknesses in SAP HANA Cloud regarding innovations, as they take their own time compared to what the market brings in with new features."
"Regarding SAP HANA Cloud, one significant pain point is the lack of access to the database from the HANA Studio for developers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is acceptable for enterprise tier."
"For me, MongoDB is expensive, but I think it is not so expensive for customers."
"The pricing and licensing is great."
"Comparing the price between the MongoDB and Microsoft SQL Server, we are using the enterprise edition of Microsoft SQL Server, which is more expensive than MongoDB."
"I am using the free version of the solution."
"The solution is fairly priced."
"For our service, it was around 300 to 600 euros per month, which was acceptable for our customers."
"The solution is fairly priced. I rate the pricing a seven out of ten."
