Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Has improved development quality and speed but has introduced persistent IDE slowdowns
In recent years, the IDE has been more buggy and slower, and although there have been more features added, I would like to see more stability, as some areas that used to work for a fairly long time are now slower in my development, which feels like a step back. I choose a seven mainly due to the issues we've faced with slowdowns and bugs during development, while runtime has been very stable, and the overall output on Mendix platform is still good; there is definitely some room for improvement, and I would probably have given it an eight or even a nine if those issues weren't hurting my developer output for the past few years. Overall, Mendix platform is stable, but the IDE could be better.

The features of Moveworks that I have not fully explored include some features I would actually like. Fully automating the passing of entries and automating entries generation would be valuable. For example, if I have a finance staff that is continuously passing an entry for me, I want a situation whereby it can pass that entry automatically and post it based on the synchronization and command which I have configured. I believe some other bot applications are doing something similar. If all these work tools can be put together to automate this kind of process, it will be very great. Major things I would want Moveworks to do more of - I do not know whether this functionality is already there - I want it to perform the work of bots so I can quickly automate some other applications to it, such as passing some entries. That is one request. Secondly, regarding the integrations of bots of Moveworks with other applications, I would appreciate if there were a step-by-step process for all standardized applications such as WhatsApp, Outlook, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and some TeamViewer and other applications that are work tools. The step-by-step synchronization and integrations of these things, if it can be posted on the website, would make it much easier for people who want to do the synchronization instead of doing a lot of research before it gets done.

Pros

"Automation Anywhere can be considered as one of the most stable RPA tools in the industry, according to the perspective of the limited amount of tools that I've used."
"Among the most valuable features that we've been able to utilize are the screen scraping and object cloning."
"My company uses AA extensively for internal BPO work as well as we refer and deploy it to the customer as a RPaaS model, helping increase productivity, reduce overall operational costs, and deliver fewer errors while proving to be a reliable workhorse during the COVID situation."
"The impact of Automation Anywhere on our organization has been significant; it has helped us save a considerable amount of time, approximately 30% to 40%, in repetitive processes and has improved automation accuracy."
"What I appreciate the most about Automation Anywhere is that the tool is very robust."
"It saves a lot of effort and hours. It is time-efficient and cost-efficient."
"We have solved many problems we had in the past before using Automation Anywhere, mainly we saved a lot of time and money, we reduced and minimized the risk of human errors and got rid of all the manual repetitive tasks so we can focus on the core of our business."
"The product has everything that I want; I don't have to look for another tool to integrate with it."
"Suite allows you to easily and smoothly integrate with pretty much anything. It is also cloud-enabled. It provides a full Cloud Foundry-driven cloud environment with one-click deployment."
"Overall the platform is really good."
"It is really a rapid platform where you can minimize the time-to-market, where you can also engage the customer from business perspectives throughout the entire cycle of the development."
"It's amazing that you can build web apps and mobile (hybrid) apps with one code base in a few clicks. It's a full continuous integration environment."
"Dashboards are valuable; it is easier to visualize data, and it is low code where the developers can still develop in Java, which to us is very appealing."
"The features that I have found most valuable with Mendix are its business process management and its minimal low code, both from an interface perspective and from a process perspective."
"What I found most valuable in Mendix is that it's very much suitable for mobile apps such as native Android or IOS supported mobile apps. The multiple features of the platform are very, very attractive and very popular. Mendix has technical features such as microflows and nanoflows. You can also access data models in the platform. These are the features that are very, very strong in Mendix. I got my hands dirty on other low-code platforms, but I have not seen such strong features in them compared to the microflows, nanoflows, and data model access that are in Mendix, including creating and integration. The platform has out-of-the-box adapters or out-of-the-box-connectors that you can integrate with different interface applications such as SAP, Salesforce, Oracle EBS, etc."
"After implementing Mendix, they reduced by 98% the engineers' relocation, as 98% of the cases are now being done by video calls instead of in-person appointments, which says a lot, even though the company didn't provide any numbers on how much is saved."
"The solution saves us approximately three-quarters of a million dollars per year."
"Moveworks has positively impacted our organization by lowering ServiceNow service desk calls by 90%, as users now prefer to ask questions through Moveworks in Teams before calling for help."
"Moveworks has reduced many tasks from us, saving an average of one to two hours per day because emails that used to take ten to fifteen minutes to compose are now getting done within two minutes, sometimes even when I am not there."
"Moveworks has reduced employee time because initially, employees used to spend so much time going to the third party to do all those jobs, and now they can simply do it via Otter, which is Moveworks, and this has saved much time and provided accurate results as well."

Cons

"As far as the stability is concerned, some unknown errors do occur. While I am sure the Automation Anywhere is working to improve this, there is room for improvement."
"Automation Anywhere should improve its OCR capabilities."
"The older versions, like version 8 and 9, were not very stable."
"It needs stability improvements. Sometimes, it becomes unstable."
"I would like to be able to look at the steps that are completed as a process is running."
"I just came to understand that there is a cloud attached to it. I would like to see how the cloud is going to work, because every application is coming out with a cloud version. If you are not on-premise, then you will need to have Citrix automation."
"With the automation copilot, if I have any internal tool or application and I want to pass on variables, I don't have it. Maybe the team can work on it to make it more efficient to make it work better across all automations."
"I want the tool to be more stabilized. After three or four hours, the navigation keeps changing. We will be running error handling for 8,000 process and the system will fail. We need it to be more stable."
"There needs to be an increase in the number of the UI components."
"All software applications have their hiccups, including the Mendix Studio Pro developers program."
"Needs multiple database connections so an app can directly read/write data to/from multiple databases. This would enable easy splitting of big applications that have complex entity relationships."
"I would also like to see automatic adjustment to the Java Heap, whenever an application load becomes too much for the application. It could also use hot database replication."
"Mendix is great for internal applications but not so great for a public-facing interface."
"In recent years, the IDE has been more buggy and slower, and although there have been more features added, I would like to see more stability, as some areas that used to work for a fairly long time are now slower in my development, which feels like a step back."
"The platform still has many areas for improvement. If I compare apples to apples, the PWA features of Mendix could be improved, for example, I wouldn't recommend creating a B2C or B2B marketplace or web portals on Mendix, but there's a tendency for people to still do it through the systems provided by my company, particularly implement B2B or B2C marketplace, versus using eBay or Shopify. On the web portal front, Mendix still needs to improve."
"There is always a layer of custom code required."
"There is always room for improvement, though it depends on how complicated one wants to make it."
"It is still not perfect enough, but we are working on it to make sure it is very perfect."
"Customer support has been adequate; I would rate it around seven out of ten, as support often forwards cases to developers after collecting details."
"More use cases can be added to the agent marketplace and the YAML or the DSL methods can be simplified, adding more methods to make it easier for us to create compound actions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Based on what I've heard, it's costly, but I don't know much about its pricing."
"They have a ridiculously expensive bot licensing structure, especially for the Asian region."
"The cloud-based version comes at an increased cost, although our clients are happy with the new features and have not complained about the pricing."
"When I started working on it, it was difficult to obtain a trial version (barrier to entry). Now, they have a Community Edition, which may make it easy to get started."
"We brought onshore a lot of what we were doing offshore, saving our company close to $20 million."
"It is not cheap, but we are able to get an ROI."
"We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet."
"In terms of pricing, this is a good product."
"Mendix licensing cost is based on the number of apps you have on the server. At the basic level, it is free of charge, so that seems reasonable, but once you go beyond that, and when it comes to the number of users on the app, that basic structure doesn't work, and the pricing tends to get a little bit steep."
"Licensing costs are similar to those for all other IT technology, but they vary by region."
"The solution is a bit expensive compared to others"
"Pricing used to be complex, but Mendix has improved that quite a bit."
"Mendix seems a bit expensive. But in terms of wanting to have less developers and higher velocity, the total cost of ownership is fine. It's not cheap, though."
"I would not recommend the solution to small and medium-sized businesses because it’s expensive. It’s great for big organizations. I rate the pricing as a three out of ten."
"From a commercial point of view, we would like them to change that they currently sell it as a platform, but as a customer you have to decide upfront the usage of the platform. We would like to have Mendix sell it as a pay as you go model: You pay for what you use, and you don't pay for what you don't use."
"Its cost is higher than competitors. The cost mostly includes licensing. It is charged per user. The cost model could be better. When you have a big company, what does per user mean? If I have a company where I have 40,000 people who will go to access it but only 200 do, how do you license it and who do you pay for? If they hit it once, do you pay for it? The licensing is complex for a big company. It is easy for us to buy all we can eat, get an enterprise license agreement, and call it good."
