Good for digital marketing purposes, such as creating and managing email campaigns
Mailchimp could be more user-friendly for setting up WordPress websites. Some of the complex settings can be time-consuming to configure. So, setting up Mailchimp for WordPress websites can be time-consuming for an average user but not necessarily difficult. It's time-consuming, especially when adding custom code to email campaigns. It requires some experience and knowledge to do it effectively.

Dynamic templates have streamlined student and parent email campaigns and build consistent engagement
The activity log is a little slower at times, but that is probably just nitpicking an issue. Overall, in general, there are not really very difficult pain points. There are certain issues sometimes when we are trying to handle a very big campaign; we might end up having a little bit less reputation in terms of bounces or spam reports that get detected when we send out the emails. Apart from that, there is not anything that would become a significant pain point. If you don't really have an advanced subscription for SendGrid, it might take a while for you to reach the customer support.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Seeing the click rates, i.e., what people are clicking on to gauge what the subscribers to our emails are interested in is the most valuable feature."
"MailChimp enables us to manage how the content crosses over and monitors each series or campaign while providing in-depth analytics for each vertical market."
"This is a great way for DigiEnable to keep in touch with its clients, users, subscribers, and charities and groups it supports, and it's a vital tool in the online communications strategy for any business, meaning you can build better relationships with your clients, keep in touch more, and you'll build better projects for years to come."
"I use Mailchimp for digital marketing purposes, such as creating and managing email campaigns, collecting data, and integrating with WordPress websites."
"It allows for dragging and dropping, which is much faster than writing HTML and CSS."
"MailChimp has many capabilities."
"Running email campaigns is easy and straightforward."
"We do more outbound marketing as this method makes it so much easier to do."
"They have pretty good support in terms of any issues."
"SendGrid has positively impacted my organization by solving the notification problem."
"The API side of things is valuable. It is flexible enough to handle pretty much anything that needs to be done in an automated manner."
"In my experience, the best features SendGrid offers include the dashboard, which is very nice to review if emails were delivered or if something was wrong."
"It does everything we need. It's got templating. It's got email validation. It's great."
"Overall, my experience with SendGrid is quite good; I have used it in a couple of my projects and everything is smooth, from integration to sending emails; the only aspect I have mentioned several times during this interaction is the pricing."
"The API configuration is much cleaner in SendGrid."
"Their REST API feature is the most amazing and easy API I have used."

Cons

"It gives me errors every time I try to send a newsletter to more than 400 people at a time."
"I don't have any issues with the service."
"It needs more formatting flexibility, such as the ability to wrap text around photos."
"Pretty much everything, and the RSS campaign is the only reason we stick with MailChimp."
"Customer Service: I really haven’t had to use customer service much but it is only by email which is unfortunate."
"It would be great to be able to create broader segments for campaigns."
"A standalone system for private servers would be ideal."
"List management could be more scalable."
"The biggest problem that we have faced is with the authentication during login. For certain people, SendGrid requires MFA, which is good as a security feature, but it doesn't always work in all geographies. We've got people and users who are based in Nigeria, and some of those people had real trouble logging into SendGrid because the MFA wouldn't send codes to people on their numbers. The security mechanism that they use for login doesn't work in all geographies."
"SendGrid can be improved by making it more versatile and facilitating easier connections with third parties."
"SendGrid is a great solution. I don't have any areas of improvement."
"I forgot my password, and when I tried to log in, it indicated that a reset link was sent to my email, but I did not receive it."
"Maybe they could have a mobile application to give to admins, so they could see some insights related to the data."
"If you don't really have an advanced subscription for SendGrid, it might take a while for you to reach the customer support."
"SendGrid is already nice, but it could be improved by providing the company ID when sending the email."
"SendGrid has room for improvement in the UI/UX or dashboard usability for users. Another area for improvement in the tool is its conditional logic facilities. The response time of SendGrid technical support needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"MailChimp is affordable."
"I primarily use the free version, but sometimes, for specific client needs, we may have to purchase different versions or packages."
"My company pays for SendGrid monthly, and though I cannot share the amount, my feedback is that the vendor should accept other modes of payment apart from a credit card."
"The basic plan starts at €90 per month."
"Its cost can vary. It can go as low as $10 or $15 to $1,000 depending on how much you use it."
"I use the essential plan which is $20 a month. After that, we use the pro which is $90 a month, and had all our costs bundled in."
"We are using the Advanced plan,10K. That is about $100 per month but sometimes we do go over the limit of the plan."
"The solution is relatively inexpensive."
