Tool consistently aids in effective threat detection and monitoring but could benefit from improved log source management and resource optimization
One major area for improvement in LogRhythm SIEM is the lack of volume measurement capability in terms of storage. There is currently no way to determine how much data is being consumed in terms of gigabytes, terabytes, or petabytes from particular devices or environments. This information is crucial for planning future storage needs and scalability. The system monitor (collector) agent has issues with resource consumption. Even when not actively collecting data, the agent continues to consume significant CPU and memory resources, which can be particularly problematic for small business environments with limited resources. LogRhythm SIEM could improve by adding more default device support. While they have good default settings for devices such as Palo Alto firewalls, custom log sources often require extensive work. Increasing the number of supported devices with built-in policies and functionality would reduce the need for custom work. Competitive SIEM tools often provide more comprehensive coverage for various devices and vendors.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the evidences we have that LogRhythm is being very successful for us is in this year's penetration test."
"The most valuable feature is that we can alternate incident automations."
"Quicker ability to troubleshoot the problem, find the problem, get it fixed, and get the customers back up and using our system."
"LogRhythm has been really a good partner, they've reached out, they're always wanting information, "How we can improve? How can we do this or that?""
"Scalability is extremely great."
"NextGen SIEM's best feature is how it presents logs."
"LogRhythm meets our problem statement, as a solution."
"We are migrating from a different product (Curator) to this product, and we think LogRhythm is better than the older product that we were using."
"The security level that they are maintaining with the pre-authentication keys is very good."
"The solution is not expensive for the data security measure you receive, it is reasonable."

Cons

"The system monitor (collector) agent has issues with resource consumption. Even when not actively collecting data, the agent continues to consume significant CPU and memory resources, which can be particularly problematic for small business environments with limited resources."
"The biggest thing I want is, right now you have thick console and the web console. Most of the reporting has to be done in the thick console. I'd love more reporting in the web console."
"Scalability has been a little tougher for us."
"It seems with all of the advanced features that we haven't quite figured them out. It is very complex."
"The built-in functionality of the solution for NDR, SOAR, SIEM, and EDS has room for improvement."
"I think they probably need to, because a lot of companies are having this cloud-first strategy, where anything that's new has to go into the cloud for some reason."
"More features that I would like to see more development in are the automation and the smart response."
"The Client Console is very bad."
"The solution could improve by providing better documentation for beginners to learn, such as videos or other tutorials."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Look for whatever will give you the most value. That's the main point. It is not one size fits all."
"The setup and licensing for small and medium size businesses is straightforward, though when it comes to the enterprise it pays to keep in mind the possibility for complications given all the extras and add-ons that may be required."
"I think the tool is reasonably priced. There is a need to pay per year towards the licensing costs of the tool."
"It costs a great amount, but its pricing is competitive with some of the other vendors. For licensing and support, we pay about 20,000. There are no additional costs or anything like that."
"The license cost is around $10 per MPS."
"I have seen a measurable decrease in the mean time to detect and respond to threats. We went from not detecting them to detecting them. We can actually pick up what is anomalous in our network now."
"The product is inexpensive than other tools."
"We work with French-speaking African countries, and it costs more than the average SIEM solution. Also, the pricing isn't too flexible. AlienVault, Splunk, and IBM QRadar are more suitable for customers on a tight budget."
"The solution is not expensive for the data security measure you receive, it is reasonable."
