Enables customers to build their own reports, but performance could be better
The most important criterion when selecting a vendor is reliability. I would give this solution a seven out of 10. It does some good stuff, but there needs to be more performance. Make sure that you have really good people working on the server administration, to make sure you're doing it right, the setup is right.

Centralized dashboards have transformed workforce trend analysis and speed up decisions
Tableau Enterprise helps us to consolidate the data and visualize daily and weekly trends in a clear and centralized dashboard, offering powerful features such as interactive dashboards, real-time data refreshing, advanced visual analytics, role-based access control, secure data, and seamless interaction with multiple data sources and automated reports. This will help us to analyze trends and collaborate across teams and scale analytics across the organization. These features help my team specifically by centralizing all employees' data in one place. This helps us reduce manual tracking and gives us real-time visibility into work from home versus office trends. The interactive dashboards allow quick decision-making, and the automated refresh time saves us a lot, while role-based access ensures data is shared securely with the right stakeholders. Tableau Enterprise has had a strong positive impact on our organization by improving data visibility, speeding up decision-making, and managing reports efficiently. The team can now access and track trends more effectively, and collaboration has improved using interactive dashboards. Overall, it has enhanced effectiveness and fostered a data-driven culture across the organization. The specific outcomes showing this positive impact include speeding up decision-making, which is the biggest impact because it saves us more time. Reporting time actually reduces sequentially since the dashboards refresh automatically. Data security is stronger, and data accuracy has improved, thanks to a centralized data source. Decision-making is also much faster since leaders can view real-time impacts instead of waiting for manual entry.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A must have for the business looking to understand their processes in an easy to consume way"
"Rapid development and deployment of solutions with low-cost server-based licensing is attractive in high user count environments."
"Self-service reporting modules allow customers to build their own reports."
"People really like the way the reports look, there are lots of fancy bells and whistles on the report designer."
"Tableau is undisputedly the number one analytical product in the world."
"It allows us to basically understand and evaluate our numbers in an expedient manner."
"Analysis is now more visual than in the past."
"Tableau helps us tell stories with data."
"Switching was the smartest business decision I ever made!"
"By deploying Tableau Server with an interactive dashboard built with Tableau Desktop, our company has gone through a journey of enabling self-analysis, and adopting a data-driven decision-making culture."
"The solution has great features which nobody can beat, you can do a lot of customizations, such as use different dimensions and colorize them, and additionally, you can use the numeric values for the customization, which is an exceptional feature."
"For Tableau, the most valuable feature is the user experience and the quality of the end product."

Cons

"Performance dependant on back-end much more than some other toolsets."
"The only feature I would like to see at this point is a normalized curve for Histograms"
"It needs a much lower price. They are jacking up the price every year, which is wrong."
"The free mapping component needs some enhancement for a better quality of geographic information, but it does connect with a ESRI mapping server for optimal data visualization of geographic information at an additional cost."
"It is not scalable at the enterprise level."
"Similarly, in Power BI, for integrating with the latest ML algorithms, we have decision trees and primarily multiple machine learning algorithms. We don't have such a feature in Tableau."
"We only use it for the financial side of the company; we don't use it on other projects, for example, the production side or the IT of the company, so we have a lack of users and we don't have a whole view of the business."
"If I have to develop any, for example, pie charts, I can develop them just fine. However, if I have to develop a donut chart, that I cannot do it in a simple way. There are tricks that I need to use if I have to design a donut chart. It should be more flexible and provide more visualization options."
"We were not happy with their support. Even for the production issue, they didn't give proper support to us."
"Maybe the price could be a bit cheaper, especially if you're a personal developer that uses Tableau just to explore smaller data sets and you're not a company or something like that."
"Tableau does not have good technical support."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It needs a much lower price. They are jacking up the price every year, which is wrong."
"At $70 per month, I think the price is a bit scary. I have a small consulting firm in Ghana, working in about 15 different African countries, and when it comes to our part of the world, $70 a month is a lot of money for software."
"Its price is higher than Power BI and QlikView. Tableau costs around $70 per user per month, whereas Power BI is around $8 to $9. QlikView is around $30. Tableau has various prices for various models such as Creator, Designer."
"Tableau is not as cost-effective as Microsoft BI."
"Tableau can be costly (but this can be indefinable, such as user experience vs. cheaper etc.)"
"The licensing model of Tableau has changed since we initially purchased it three years ago and it is more complicated, and I have found it to be more expensive. They have lost market shares to Microsoft BI. My company will probably change solutions this year because of the increased pricing model."
"It is fairly expensive. I have no idea what they paid. We were on an enterprise license, so whatever it is they licensed at the enterprise level is what we paid."
"I like the payment model. For the people who need to create, they buy their licenses. Everyone else can use the free Tableau Viewer. This is much better than some of the competitor products, which require full licences for everything."
"For our organization, the cost hasn't been an issue."
