Saves time and helps efficiency compared to just using Excel but improvements to database features for analytics needed.
Database features for analytics i.e. retrieving data. The biggest flaw of KCI Control9 and previous versions is that all data retrieval is 'view' based. You can not simply define the dimensions and retrieve the data. You have to define the dimensions in a 'view' and only then can you use that 'view' to build ad hoc reports. Another serious flaw is that if you want to share this ad hoc report that you built with another employee, that person will have to set their 'view' dimensions to at a minimum include all the dimension parameters as the report or the whole report will not work. I've heard from KCI that in Control10 they will be eliminating this 'view' restrictions for retrieving data and it's seriously about time. It has been such a handicap to this product.

We are going to re-implement the Oracle Hyperion system due to changes in our chart of account process and some other factors. We were analyzing whether to move to a cloud system, EPM Cloud. We have already proceeded with our Oracle Hyperion re-implementation with the vendor, and it is in the approval process. All options have been evaluated. We have made comparisons between EPM Cloud and Oracle Hyperion. Oracle Hyperion is not too user-friendly. EPM Cloud has more support towards functional users who can generate reports according to their own needs. There are specific reasons why we have not moved to the cloud, such as our various processes including reconciliations. We do not prefer customization in Oracle Hyperion, but due to business needs, there may be a few minimal customizations made. The forms are a bit complex for functional users. To create and open forms is not simple. We need trained personnel, and training is essential to use it efficiently.
