Creating new pages is easy.
Categories, Components and the ease in creating new pages are the most valuable features Easy creation of new components and easy maintenance saves time and money. Optimization of systems I have been using it for more than nine years. Customizing components is not so easy. We have not…

Collaborative work benefits while user-friendliness challenges persist
The most valuable feature of SharePoint is its user interface, which is very easy to use. I do not have to be very technical to use it. Its rights management capabilities and ability to restrict access to certain people are also very useful. Furthermore, I can access SharePoint from any device, whether it is a phone or laptop, which is very convenient.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The speed in which you can take a CMS and make it a full-blown shopping cart with analytics tracking, SEO, user accounts, security, and ease of use through a robust framework of modules and plugins to enhance and promote-related content is about as turnkey as it gets with Joomla."
"One of the most robust, stable, secure, feature-rich CMSs on the market."
"The most valuable features of SharePoint Online are content management, document management, and approval processes. Additionally, there are a number of features that provide integration with multiple Office services and external services."
"OneDrive and SharePoint provide a secure, fully auditable way of storing information."
"The most valuable features are the Integrations, web site, and search."
"SharePoint is smooth and easy to use for editing, updating, and uploading files."
"Its most valuable feature is the document library."
"It allows for simultaneous users to be on it."
"The metadata services, the WCF service integration and the Voxel feature are three most valuable elements of this solution."
"SharePoint manages version control, which makes it easier to track and amend documentation accurately, maintaining document integrity and enabling quick recovery if necessary."

Cons

"I would like to see the same sorting and attributes available through the web browser on the JED (sorting by free or commercial license, sort by rating, popularity, etc.) within the back-end Joomla Web Installer when browsing extensions."
"I would like to see more back-end admin power pulled into the front-end, therefore the admins will not have to use the back-end as much, especially for the menu manager, user manager, etc. versus using third-party extensions to achieve this."
"During uptime under our network, it is hard to find info when content is hefty."
"The support is the worst. It is bad when Microsoft support does not even know what to do and you have to tell them. Also, they take too long to solve a problem."
"SharePoint is not always intuitive to use and can be overwhelming for non-tech-savvy users."
"The management of the product/back-end is complex."
"It will fully use your system resources."
"I understand that some functions are lost when you store the information in a file system, so maybe that's a way SharePoint can improve."
"The technical support from Microsoft for SharePoint is often slow and rated a three out of ten."
"The technical support process should be more streamlined as it usually involves contacting vendors and arranging calls for resolution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Joomla is open source, therefore free. Only hosting, the time to build it along with the training time is your startup cost."
"The product is reasonably priced."
"Licensing can be by server or by seat."
"It comes bundled with the Microsoft 365 pricing plans."
"It is pretty reasonable. It is $5 per month per user. We have 12 users now, so it is about $60 per month."
"The pricing works for us."
"It is very expensive."
"The replacement costs for it are cheaper if you use only SharePoint."
"The platform has medium pricing."

Jive vs Sharepoint vs Drupal Commons
At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a…
