Automated recovery has minimized downtime and supports seamless multi‑datacenter failover

Beyond pricing, there are areas where I would like to see InfoScale improved or enhanced. Veritas offers three management approaches. The first, which Veritas currently recommends, is Veritas Operation Manager. The second is the Cluster Manager Java Console graphical interface. The Cluster Manager Java Console has not been revised since version 6.1 or 6.2. This tool was critical for me, particularly valuable when managing small cluster footprints of 20 to 30 server nodes. I relied heavily on this tool, but Veritas has moved away from it in favor of Operation Manager. I recommend Veritas continue evolving this tool rather than discarding it. The third approach is the command line, suitable for individuals with extensive Veritas expertise and experience, but command line use in live environments consumed excessive time, leading me to prefer the graphical interface. Apart from pricing, I have not discovered disadvantages. The product is excellent. My concern is Veritas discarding the Cluster Manager Java Console in favor of Veritas Operation Manager. Setting up Operation Manager requires time and a dedicated server that runs continuously. I had to create a single server just for Veritas Operation Manager. While this works well for larger environments with hundreds of clusters, it is less useful for smaller deployments. I still recommend Veritas reconsider this application and evolve it by incorporating new features from Veritas Operation Manager. Adding these new features to the Java console would be beneficial because that tool runs on my laptop without consuming environment resources, and I can connect directly to clusters from my laptop. I am not opposing Veritas Operation Manager, which is excellent and resembles hardware management consoles for power machines, but smaller tools that previously performed these tasks should remain as options to provide clients with greater ease. From a features and functionality perspective, I do not find missing features in InfoScale at this moment. However, I am not actively using Veritas, managing only legacy machines on older hardware. I am upgrading operating systems but not Veritas due to contract expiration and end-of-life status. The contract is not being renewed because the customer wants to move away. Since I have not logged into VCS since 2021 and transferred responsibilities to another team, I am unaware of features arriving in version 8 or beyond and cannot comment specifically on recent Veritas introductions.

Helps reduce response time but has room to improve customization complexity

We are not working on simple standalone solutions like Kaspersky DDoS Protection or Hybrid Cloud Security. Once you understand Zabbix, then it is easy to customize those web pages and graphs for our customer use. It is fully automated to your requirements. Zabbix is working fine with no issues, and I am satisfied with it. We have combined Zabbix and SolarWinds. The integration works fine, and it is easy to integrate Zabbix with the IT environment. We were trying to purchase MDR (Managed Detection and Response), but we are not working on that. I don't have real experience with MDR. We are using Falcon software for that. We are working with Falcon Complete, not with Sandbox. We are not using Kaspersky for business or cloud protection. For that, we are using Zabbix CrowdStrike Falcon Complete solution. I have given this review an overall rating of 8.

"I like being able to use proxy servers for different locations. The agents are pretty cool. They're easy to roll out. The standard out-of-the-box templates are also pretty easy to use. The integration with other learning products is also good. I have, in the past, used Slack, but we've integrated it with Microsoft Teams. We also use it for SMS with a service called Redcoat. It is very flexible. It does what I need it to do, and my manager is very happy because it doesn't cost anything. We are nearing 4,000 hosts inside Zabbix, and we've got another 6,000 access points to add to it. We've thrown everything at it, and it has managed to keep going. I am very impressed with the tool, and I'd shake their hand very hard if I got to say the compliments to the Zabbix team. They keep improving it and doing refreshes, which is one good thing about it. There is also online information as well as books that you can purchase if you're willing to read enough. There is a lot to pick up, but it is a pretty complete solution."

"Its UI needs to be improved a little bit more so that an end-user is also able to handle it. I can handle it, but others should also be able to handle it in a better way. It becomes complex when we are growing and need to add proxies. We need more scalability features and documentation for different use cases. For example, when you have thousands of servers that have to be monitored in different regions of the world, there should be some kind of documentation to describe how you can create proxies and add them. Sometimes, when you are using the database, it can get overloaded. When the network is growing, the number of transactions becomes very high, and the database gets overloaded. There should be information about how to reduce the load on the MySQL database, which is what Zabbix is using. The market is growing a lot, and it should be enhanced for a lot more things. We are currently bringing enhancements at our end for different use cases. For example, when dockerization is going on, how can we check the logs inside the Dockers. We should also be able to monitor and check the number of logins and add features such as SSO login and two-factor authentication as a protocol. These are the security features and concerns that we have to deal with. Currently, we are developing modules to add features to Zabbix, but they should also work on these features."
