Data management consolidation improves efficiency and user coordination
The licenses are too expensive compared to before, which is why customers are now preferring other data metadata management tools like OneTrust, Collibra, and Azure Purview. As a matter of POC, they are assessing whether their requirements can meet data governance initiatives. The need for skilled professionals is increasing, but cost remains a significant consideration for organizations when implementing CDGC. If a budget is allocated and they are satisfied with the Informatica CDGC license price, then it is a very good tool to implement. Regarding improvements, besides the price, the advanced clusters feature in CDGC needs attention. There are advanced scanners features present in both on-premise and cloud, but the setup isn't straightforward; there are lots of dependencies to consider. For instance, an SAP connector dealing with CDGC isn't simple. There are precautions and prerequisites that must be followed; otherwise, it won't work easily compared to the Oracle connector. Thus, resources need to be handled carefully with the advanced scanner configuration guide.

A seamless all-in-one solution
This solution is seamless. From one platform, we can do just about anything. With other solutions, you'll need a separate platform for data ingestion, manipulation, etc. Then you'll need another tool for reporting. Palantir Gotham literally does it all. It generates a report regardless of the format. It can seamlessly generate it after the data has been collected.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's got a reputation in the industry as one of the best solutions for master data management, so it's what we see in the Gartner top right quadrant as the best product in that space."
"Customer service and technical support are excellent."
"Now that we run all the addresses through AddressDoctor, we know what is a deliverable address and what is not, and we see the suggestion list for the addresses which are not deliverable."
"An advantage is its seamless integration with other Informatica capabilities, making data quality a deeply embedded part of the solution."
"It has been leading the market with hierarchy management and all the different match concepts and algorithms. They're very robust."
"The solution scales well."
"I feel like we're always getting good support from Informatica, even when there are technical challenges, it's one of the best things about the solution."
"The most valuable feature is the rule specification."
"This solution is seamless. From one platform, we can do just about anything."
"This solution is seamless; from one platform, we can do just about anything."

Cons

"We have seen stability issues with older versions, particularly 6.x and below."
"The main issue probably has nothing to do with end users, but installation can definitely be simplified."
"There are challenges when we use Cloud Application Integration (CAI). The current features are a bit complicated, and we need to write big scripts and test."
"I would rate my experience with the initial setup a two out of ten, with one being difficult and ten being easy."
"Informatica Cloud Data Integration could improve the price by making it less expensive."
"We would like to have accessibility to the repository."
"Compared to other tools in the market, Informatica MDM is costly."
"Although we are very satisfied with the design of the UI, executing tasks with it can be difficult."
"I think there should be less coding involved. Currently, using it involves a tremendous amount of coding."
"I think there should be less coding involved. Currently, using it involves a tremendous amount of coding."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing nine and a half out of ten."
"Licensing is difficult to understand, but the team is always available to explain anything. They are very helpful."
"The product is highly-priced."
"The licensing costs attached to the solution are pretty high, but then, with the cloud model, the prices depend on what it provides for the value of money, which I feel was very high."
"We have licenses, and we are provided with certain particular services in the solution."
"Its pricing model can be improved."
"There is no doubt that it is very expensive, but the brand value comes at a cost. Other MDM solutions in the market that haven't proven themselves like Informatica are also pretty expensive. We need to understand that MDM itself is very expensive to implement. So, Informatica is also pretty expensive. I would rate it a two out of five for being pretty expensive."
