Has supported project management and business customization through strong modular flexibility
The cloud feature in IFS Cloud Platform is predominantly valuable, especially the enterprise asset management module, which IFS has very good business into, along with strong finance, project management, and supply chain management modules; these are the major modules that are performing well with IFS, and the cloud options along with user-friendly customizations for any technical developments are additional advantages. The integration of IoT with IFS Cloud Platform is performing well, enabling us to integrate with predominantly any third party through the standard inbuilt connectors that are readily available, and if we need to customize the integration, we can certainly do that too.

Integration and flexibility deliver outstanding business experiences with innovative platforms enhancements
Scale is a primary concern. If the product vision continues to serve small and mid-cap companies, they need to continue incorporating features into the out-of-the-box solution because small-caps typically lack budget for in-house IT organizations to customize and maintain systems. If they want to expand beyond mid-cap and enter the large-cap market, they need to consider balance and provide more customizability. This includes extending process flows through more APIs and building a more modular architecture with granular backend exposed via API. The process layer should allow clients to customize while invoking back-office APIs. The general perception positions Microsoft Dynamics GP in the middle of the market. Systems such as NetSuite and ServiceNow occupy the lower category, providing narrow use cases. Microsoft Dynamics GP offers more breadth and out-of-the-box capabilities at a slightly higher price point. At the top end, SAP, Oracle, and Salesforce offer extensive customizability at a premium price, suitable for large organizations with multiple transactions and customers. Microsoft Dynamics GP currently occupies a favorable position in the middle segment with limited competition.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"There are fewer fields on the user screen compared to other products."
"The most valuable features of IFS Applications in the latest version are the new user Arena interface. It's from Apps 9, but it brings more flexibility in usage, especially around different devices, such as mobile usage, which doesn't restrict you from using a computer. We are it for the HR side, and it's proving quite good. It has a new modern feel to it similar to a standard cloud application which enhances the user experience."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine or ten out of ten since it is an extremely scalable solution that can be used for various use cases with thousands of users."
"There tends not to be a massive weakness in the product itself, as weaknesses can quickly be resolved in the next patch or the next release."
"I like the connectivity and interfaces. In V10, it's easy to modify the interfaces and layouts, but it's becoming more complicated in the cloud. IFS is excellent at asset maintenance and incident management. They have specialized modules for IFS that cover incident and asset management and everything else connected to finance. The reporting in IFS is also easy to use."
"The solution overall is very versatile and flexible, especially compared to other products."
"Individual user profiles that can be configured as templates to minimize data entry."
"A high level of ERP can be handled in IFS."
"The solution offers integrations with other software as well. We have integration with Microsoft Office where we can do Word and Excel, etc."
"The most valuable feature is financial control. The accounting aspect allows us to manage our clients and payments."
"Microsoft Dynamics GP has strong out-of-the-box reporting capabilities, and its integration with Office 365, Power Apps, and Power Platform provides great additional benefits, helping deliver better experiences to employees and customers."
"It's enhanced by a subscription billing add-on, to efficiently automate billing and invoicing, particularly due to our substantial customer database."
"I haven't used it a lot, but the best thing is that the processes are very detailed."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to easily update and maintain accurate data across all aspects of our operations."
"It is strong in integration."
"Microsoft Dynamics GP has supported our compliance with industry regulations completely."

Cons

"IFS Applications can improve the reporting capabilities and increase the speed of feedback time in the IFS Applications. This would help with the overall performance of the solution and provide better experiences for customers."
"There are some stability issues."
"The solution's reporting tools still require improvement."
"The CRM was shaky and although this improves in Apps 10, there is room for improvement."
"The next version has already been released, and some of the technical things are a little bit behind the curve in development. This is specifically security, maintenance, security role maintenance, and creation. This is in their new product, called IFS Cloud."
"IFS uses Crystal Report mostly, which isn't too user-friendly. Developing reports isn't easy and requires a lot of dev time. Since SAP bought it, Crystal Report has become more complicated to use on IFS. You have a dashboard for reporting that is good, but it's incomplete. Most of our clients use Power BI or some additional tooling for BI."
"We have upgraded to the latest version right now. We have issues with the quality. We tried to enroll in their Evergreen program which was meant to help us adopt any service update or anything that the tool’s providers come up with."
"IFS Applications is not robust enough to handle high-volume transactions, so it's not suitable for larger enterprises."
"There should also be extra redundancy when posting to modules. We use different sets of books such as CashBook and CheckBooks therefore if I select the wrong one the solution allows the transaction to just pass without warning."
"It requires a lot of expertise to implement."
"At times, navigating the user console can be challenging, particularly when trying to find account information."
"It still can be improved in web-based and build reporting. "
"As technology changes, I would say probably in the area of chart up account needs improvement because chart up account is a string. So if they make it more flexible."
"This is now a legacy product, so they're phasing it out over time."
"As for room for improvement, they have different modules, project and analytical accounting, but it will be good to have that kind of part in the standard package. To have that additional reporting functionality where you can add an attribute or something, which you can report again. So you can analyze the cost by not just natural accounts but also by a project, without having to go through another module edit on top and then the other module edit on top. The more modules you add, sometimes it doesn't work that well. Additionally, it would be easier to have the solution on the cloud. That's our consideration. We are trying to move all our systems to the cloud, and GP is one of them that we are going to move in the next couple of years. I would rate the solution seven or seven point five out of ten."
"Many of our customers are migrating to the cloud rather than staying on-premises."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are varying license levels that you can purchase."
"Licensing is on an annual basis, with no additional costs."
"The additional cost that comes with the solution includes the overhead of the people who are trying to fix the tool issues. These people are trying to reproduce the issue and report it to the technical support and testing with them which is huge. It is the cost of quality in the end."
"IFS Applications is expensive software, but it's on par with SAP and Oracle. It's for large enterprises and government entities and not for small and medium-sized enterprises. They have one licensing model, but if you want to have a module-specific license, they provide component-based licenses. Unlike SAP and Oracle, it doesn't have different levels of licensing. It's one level of licensing."
"The pricing of the solution may appear to be expensive for smaller companies with only tens of users; however, for larger and mid-size industrial companies, IFS is able to win deals and the pricing is competitive in the market."
"Compared to SAP, the pricing for IFS Applications was very affordable. People using the solution would find that it's worth the money."
"There's an additional yearly cost for support."
"IFS Applications are competitive in terms of pricing compared to other vendors, such as SAP, Oracle, and Epicor. They are generally cheaper, especially for licensing costs."
"It is an affordable solution."
"In comparison to other ERP systems, the pricing is not necessarily inexpensive, but it can be considered more cost-effective."
"The solution's price is steep."
"Its pricing and licensing are high. Of course, we all know that it is Microsoft."
"I think the tool is competitively priced and it's more of a one-time investment with a low annual renewal fee."
"We evaluated some local products, because of the pricing, but this product has better features and support."
"For us, in our local currency, it costs us around 5 million Botswanan Pulas a year. It's quite a lot of money."
"I would say that the pricing is moderate, not cheap, and not expensive. There are many more expensive ERPs than GP, and there are less expensive as well, so it is moderately priced."
