CyberArk manager at a comms service provider with 10,001+ employees
Secures critical infrastructures with essential user session audit records
A potential area for improvement is enhancing support for cluster environments and distributed Vaults. Clients in multiple countries that need central access have different challenges that require better solutions from CyberArk. For financial services, CyberArk can improve incident response by ensuring fast support for critical priority tickets to meet compliance requirements. Providing more documentation on CyberArk is recommended for new team members to enhance their troubleshooting capabilities. I understand it's up to the client, but 99% fail to change the demo key, so it's crucial for CyberArk to emphasize changing the key and documenting it as part of the installation process.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I love how easily we could operate within Password Vault and get things done. It was almost effortless."
"Implementing the CyberArk solution helps these companies to think about their privileged accounts, organize them in the CyberArk solution, and then get control of their privileged accounts to safely store and manage these, knowing that only the correct persons can access these accounts and that the different devices can only be managed via one central entry point to the datacenter."
"The established sessions on the target systems are fully isolated and the privileged account credentials are never exposed to the end-users or their client applications and devices."
"The fact that I can put my vault here in a central location on one net for example, and I'll have a CPM in California, a CPM in Texas, a CPM in New York, a CPM in Florida, and actually be able to grow with my company and not necessarily have to continue to grow my vault until I get to a certain number accounts - yet I can still manage everything across the country, if not the world - I love that. I love the flexibility and the capability of being able to pull those components out."
"The privileged support manager is the most valuable feature of CyberArk Enterprise Password Vault."
"It has improved our organization by being able to consolidate several privileged access technologies into a unified tool, while session recording, auditing capability, and approval workflows allow a high degree of control over the organisation’s privileged access requirements for compliance purposes."
"It is a great product when it comes to security, and from the security point of view, I would advise a new user to use this tool and deploy it in your environment since the security is unbeatable."
"The voice technology is very good."
"It has improved our organization because it is fast, accurate, and easy to maintain."

Cons

"The installation process should be easier and more user-friendly so that you don't need to hire a third party to deploy it."
"There is a lot of room for improvement in the report section. I also work on other tools, such as Thycotic, which allows you to create customized reports for your organization's needs. In CyberArk, there are limited reports, whereas in Thycotic or some of the other PAM tools, because the database is different, you can customize the report based on your needs through SQL queries."
"The initial setup of CyberArk is a challenge if you do not have prior experience with it."
"The solution is stable, but some features in BeyondTrust are unavailable in CyberArk Privileged Access Manager."
"The turnaround time for technical support is lengthy."
"Initially, there was a lot of hiccups, because there were a lot of transitions due to manual installations."
"In terms of mean time to respond, I acknowledge variable response time. The L1 team is proactive, yet the vendor often pushes to close incidents swiftly, even when issues remain unresolved."
"The performance of this product needs to be improved. When the number of privileged accounts increases, i.e., exceeds 2000, then the performance of the system reduces."
"One item I would like to see improved is the ability to clean the deeper parts of the machine with simplicity."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"CyberArk Privileged Access Manager is more expensive than its competitors, such as BeyondTrust, Delinea, and ManageEngine PAM360."
"Its price can be reduced."
"The solution is very expensive and requires a license. We pay for an enterprise license."
"CyberArk provides all the features bundled. This is compared to other vendors who provide them as a different license for each functionality."
"CyberArk Privileged Access Manager is on the expensive side. It is very expensive."
"Since CyberArk is at the top of the Gartner list, the cost is indeed on the higher side, but customers must discern which entities are essential to purchase. They should weigh the cost against the quality received."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"Pricing is quite high and it could be improved."
"The machine costs around five hundred thousand dollars."
