Has integrated solutions and rapid recovery made management smoother and more reliable
There is the latest update from HPE regarding HPE SimpliVity. For virtualization, HPE has to depend on other manufacturers, OEMs such as VMware or Hyper-V. Recently, HPE declared the VM essential virtualization solution. In the future, if HPE integrates HPE SimpliVity with VM essential, that will be a great combination. Functionality-wise, I am totally satisfied with HPE SimpliVity, but for improvement, if HPE integrates its own virtualization solution, this combination and integration will be beneficial because this integration can be configured with the cloud-based system. A VM can be uploaded to the cloud from this, which will be advantageous for backup to other sites.

Stable, good technical support, and the the visual encoding works well
The most valuable feature is the visual encoding I would like to see better video compression. Snapshot notification would be a good addition. The price of this solution is high compared to the competitors, so it should be lowered. I have been using Pivot3 for between four and five years. This…

Pros

"I am completely satisfied with this solution."
"Definitely the deduplication and compression, for the optimization of disk space."
"The HyperGuarantee is unique and the accelerator card is the primary IP with the product."
"For smaller node clusters, I wouldn't go with anybody else."
"It's a very nice solution. It's a complete solution that we are looking for because we don't have personnel with expertise."
"It's allowed us to be more efficient in disk space usage with a reduction of 47 to 1 in hard drive space."
"The accelerator card is a lifesaver for speeding up backups."
"Offsite backup, replication, and duplication of data are important for our plant environment since we are hard on our equipment."
"The technical support is very good."
"One feature we found useful was the product's complete ability to integrate with vCenter."
"It greatly streamlined the time it took to scale out the enterprise and it completely eliminated the need for a SAN/Storage engineer, with the simplicity the Pivot3 Stack Manager brought with it for managing storage."
"The most valuable feature is the visual encoding."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of implementation."

Cons

"I would like to see it be a truly hybrid-cloud solution where I could take my on-prem SimpliVity environment and have replication to a cloud install."
"SimpliVity's performance could be better. It could be more stable."
"Pricing is a little high in my opinion. Prices have climbed consistently since our purchase and install."
"In regards to the HPE Simplivity current offering – 1. Replication of backup to a cloud solution would be advantageous. At present, I’d have to spin up a new site (data center, networking gear, etc.) and place Simplivity nodes there to get replication of backups to meet my offsite requirement."
"The installation is quite easy but it could still be improved."
"We definitely want to see more of the CLI commands come up to the GUI, and it is a legitimate question, if we are going to be happy with the integration in the vsphere web client, which is awfully slow."
"The initial setup was complex. It took a few months to integrate and adapt to the new platform."
"Not a lean architecture in terms of anything."
"One of the biggest problems with HCI vendors was the lack of flexibility for adding resources."
"The price of this solution is high compared to the competitors, so it should be lowered."
"In the next release, I would like to see compatibility and support for critical applications, like SAP."
"Snapshot notification would be a good addition."
"Marketing needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is not expensive. We bought its license for two years. For support, we pay yearly."

"The licensing cost could be lower."
"We're paying $3,000-$4,000 a month."
"Cost is a factor. It is quite expensive."
"HPE SimpliVity is much more affordable than Nutanix or VMware vSAN...The first pair of servers was about 90,000 EUR, including three years of warranty. It is 30,000 EUR per year."
"The solution is affordable and quite reasonably priced in terms of the product one gets."
"It is not too expensive, but it is quite expensive for me."
