Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The high availability was most valuable because they come with what's called 100% data availability. With special terms, they license and guarantee 100% data availability. That was probably one of the key features or components that HPE was offering with that model.""The initial setup is very straightforward. It's not overly complex.""The most important thing that we had found when we purchased this product around six months back was its 100% availability and uptime.""We sold Primera to a public university, and they're happy with it. They have been using it for about four months with no significant problems.""When taking into account the price, maintenance required, and performance of HPE Primera, it is an effective solution.""HPE Primera is an all-flash storage product that's very stable and has a higher storage capacity. It can also give better ROI compared to NetApp.""The features that I have found most valuable are the artificial intelligence for the storage inside of the software and firmware because customers do not like functionalities which require manual interruption.""HPE Primera is scalable."

"We find the product to be very flexible.""You can easily scale up, and scale-out.""The most valuable features are stability and performance.""NetApp NVMe AFF A800 is easier to use than some other solutions and the UI is very good to use for day-to-day activities. Overall, the solution has good technology."

Cons
"There are certain features that require engineering-level access, which should be accessible to storage admins as well.""We cannot use this storage for critical applications and data.""Like most storage, we want to see flash become more and more stable. Like any flash that uses MLC or TLC techniques, over time, the more writes you have, the less usable the storage becomes. They try to plan for this and have a lot of extra space in the arrays, but over time, their performance does degrade. This is true for any flash storage.""The file server embedded in Pure, the GUI, and the tracking and reporting features are better with Pure Storage.""The interface needs to be more user-friendly in that sense that installation and management are still a bit on the high end.""We used to receive hardware errors a lot of times. The ambient temperatures rise rate was approximately 35 to 55 degrees, but when it was approximately 27 or 28, we used to get errors a lot.""The IOPS and throughput could be better. That's the only drawback compared to other vendors.""The solution has good performance but it could improve further."

"The support can take a few days to have a response. However, the response that we do receive is very informative.""Increasing the RAM, and including physical cords would be beneficial.""The initial setup should be easier, and more like a plug-and-play approach.""The cost of the solution is quite high. It would be ideal if they could adjust it so that it's a but less."

  • "I believe HPE Primera and Pure Storage are similar in price."
