Panzura CloudFS and HPE 3PAR StoreServ compete in enterprise storage solutions, with Panzura gaining an edge due to its superior collaboration capabilities, essential for businesses prioritizing seamless teamwork and data accessibility.
Features: Panzura CloudFS offers advanced collaboration, file recovery, and efficient data synchronization. Its global access and user-friendly NAS make it ideal for teams needing easy access and strong audit capabilities. In contrast, HPE 3PAR StoreServ focuses on data storage performance, dynamic optimization, and high availability through its tiered storage approach, ensuring robust performance and cost-effective scalability.
Room for Improvement: Panzura CloudFS could enhance its international performance, ensure consistent user interface design, and introduce flexible storage pricing. It also requires improved support training and analytics. HPE 3PAR StoreServ needs better deduplication, lower licensing costs, and seamless integration with cloud technologies. Simplifying its management interface and reducing licensing complexities would attract more users.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Panzura CloudFS supports various cloud infrastructures and shines with rapid deployment across public and hybrid clouds. Its technical support and customer service are highly regarded. HPE 3PAR StoreServ, while stable on-premises, could benefit from more adaptive support and integration with diverse cloud and on-premises environments.
Pricing and ROI: Panzura CloudFS is competitively priced but high, with significant ROI through productivity boosts, though limited by lack of incremental storage options. HPE 3PAR StoreServ is expensive due to comprehensive licensing but offers value with long-term savings on maintenance. Flexible pricing negotiations can mitigate its initial cost barrier for smaller budgets.
The return on investment is very good.
Previously, we had latency issues with syncing up files between offices. Files were not locked, leading to overwrites which cost us literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost time and revenue.
The introduction allowed everyone to collaborate much better, saving time and confusion while making staff more productive and collaborative.
The ability to scale with storage capacity using cloud resources rather than on-premises infrastructure can save significantly from an ROI perspective.
If we activate the 3PAR call home function, then the remote technician always has access to our StoreServ and provides strong suggestions to improve our 3PAR performance.
The support staff and the number of people they have on staff right now are truly good.
When we have a priority-one issue, we typically receive a call within 20 to 30 minutes.
I would give the support for Panzura CloudFS a ten out of ten because they are responsive and helpful.
Unlimited users can access the system without issues.
As storage requirements grow, cloud capacity can be expanded without significant infrastructure changes.
From our original entry with Panzura CloudFS, we have added an additional seven sites, and deploying those additional nodes was very seamless and did not take any effort.
HPE 3PAR is a very stable solution from HPE, and people have been using this for more than five years.
My experience with the stability and performance of HPE 3PAR StoreServ involved one crash, which was caused by failing hardware.
I would rate it a nine out of ten for stability.
We have never had their system crash on us.
There were times with file lock issues between filers, causing various anomalies, but with their ongoing development, these issues have improved.
In Pakistan, some parts are not readily available, and we need to import them from Singapore or other countries.
HPE 3PAR StoreServ might be missing certain features available in newer products.
We just need to verify whether our current virtual server setup is acceptable to the RBI, as they had raised questions about the VSO, ISO configurations we had implemented.
Stronger support for multi-cloud or hybrid deployments would reduce vendor lock-in, and enhanced security could include expanded zero-trust access controls.
When something goes wrong somewhere, there should be a little bit better alerting with issues before they become a big problem.
The GIS data formats, such as a geo database, have been found better kept outside of Panzura CloudFS.
It is expensive, however, when we compare it to the features provided by HPE, the price-to-performance ratio is very good.
Any customer will always ask for the cheaper price.
It did require us to purchase new hardware, however, that was not overly expensive.
They should consider more attractive pricing for companies of our size.
Overall, it is quite costly compared to NetApp and similar solutions.
There is no downtime when we upgrade our 3PAR systems.
We are expecting on-site support, which is the main benefit we are getting with HP.
I find the HPE 3PAR StoreServ valuable for its ease of use and resilience, which is beneficial.
It is very reliable and very quick.
It helps us increase network resilience. We have a primary object library stored in the cloud and have Panzura Mirroring which allows us to place data in a secondary cloud for added resiliency.
There is no degradation of speed because these filers have cached the data, and they are constantly swapping metadata and updating with each other, which is a very attractive method of getting us to use these applications.
