Experience boosts operational efficiency while performance sees room for improvement
I don't have specific information on whether it was purchased on the AWS marketplace or somewhere else. I am working with Dynatrace Operator. I am also working with Algosec, Alluvio, CrowdStrike, Firemon, Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline, and other solutions. I think it's a good tool, and I am satisfied with it. We have not stored cloud workloads with Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline yet; we are still on-premises. The technical support takes about one to two hours to respond, which is acceptable. I am satisfied with the scalability of the product. The interface is good.

Proactive monitoring has reduced response time and has improved capacity planning accuracy
Regarding areas for improvement, there may be minor issues, but I have not faced any significant issues with OpenText SiteScope because I have a team that uses this product daily. As a monitoring dashboard user, I do not have any negative feedback. A feature that could be added is direct integration with a ticketing tool, as it would help operation teams directly detect alarms and alerts happening in our infrastructure. Direct integration with a ticketing tool such as Remedy would be a good feature. OpenText SiteScope has some limitations, especially with integration between OpenText SiteScope and Remedy, which must be done through middle software. There are also limitations for cloud monitoring as well as for Docker and Kubernetes.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool's most valuable feature is the encryption feature. From a security perspective, the solution hasn't significantly strengthened our security posture. However, it has greatly improved performance by streamlining encryption processes and avoiding encryption at multiple layers. This has also simplified troubleshooting, as we can whitelist certain processes."
"The most valuable feature for improving network visibility with Gigamon is the packet filtering capability."
"It has high stability."
"The most valuable feature is NetFlow."
"The Pipeline's Comprehensive Insights into data flows have helped improve operational efficiency and security."
"The solution is straightforward to set up."
"We use Gigamon for network visibility."
"It is a good product. It provides network visibility, which is important. Gigamon can bring some optimizations to my network. It is helpful for security inspection, and it makes my firewall work fast because my firewall doesn't have to do the inspection of the SSL connections, for example."
"It can monitor over a 100 technologies with built-in solution templates."
"Simplest tool for monitoring servers, web content, databases and other hardware. Its dashboard is really good."
"It's a very flexible product so you can run a script out of it, even straight out of the box."
"The monitoring capabilities have no limit; whatever you can imagine, you can monitor, even using URL monitors, database query monitors, and formula composite monitors, which are not common in other tools."
"The products have been able to deliver the service to our business, which is to ensure that the applications that depend on our servers are always available."
"The product's readymade templates are perfect. It supports us a lot when we don't have much experience with the product. The templates offers us direction to proceed."
"The stability of the Micro Focus Voltage SiteScope is good."
"They can create workflows for approval processes, which is very useful to support paperless digitalization, allowing effective collaboration between many parties including approvers, reviewers, and engineering documents being signed, annotated, and marked up using this system."

Cons

"The Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline should have a feature showing the traffic flow within its platform. Currently, customers have to use separate tools for monitoring, which is inconvenient. If it had its visibility feature, it would make monitoring easier and more complete without needing extra tools."
"It only inspects a specific kind of traffic. There should be different kinds of use cases."
"In terms of improvement, while the initial setup is not overly complicated, we did encounter a few issues."
"They should increase the solution's cluster capacity."
"The graphical user interface could be improved."
"The challenge is monitoring the cloud network."
"Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline needs to improve its performance. I face issues with performance because we use SPAN, and the SPAN traffic is not good."
"The security should be improved."
"Micro Focus Voltage SiteScope could improve by adding more features, such as cloud, APM, and DevOps monitoring."
"They have not kept up with browser security requirements or advances in GUIs, they switched to a corruptible database architecture instead of text config files."
"They should provide more templates for new vendor devices."
"It should improve its integrations with various tools, especially service management tools."
"Monitor mobile health status too."
"There is a need to enhance the reporting feature in OpenText SiteScope. Reporting related to performance information for historical data needs improvement to provide better reporting related to application availability and end node availability."
"It may lack some features other products in the category have like more detailed transaction tracking."
"We have four or five data centers around North America where we have it deployed into a single or a two-server primary backup type of deployment. All those are made available under a single GUI provided by Micro Focus that allows you to put them all together. A room for improvement would be an appliance or a server that would manage all of our other servers so that I don't have to remember to log on to all different servers and data centers. I could manage them from a single location."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the solution as expensive, around an eight or nine out of ten. There are other competitive solutions available."
"The solution is highly-priced."
"The solution's price is reasonable."
"You have to pay for their "solution templates". Other tools do not charge you for knowledge-based monitoring bundles."
"SiteScope licensing can be node based-or monitor-based. I would recommend for node-based licensing."
"It is expensive. I don't like its licensing. I don't like anything where you have to license it by individual licenses. I'm not a fan of that, but that's just me."
"The product's pricing should be lower since there are many open-source products that can do the same job with better user interfaces. The tool's pricing is yearly and you need to pay for support."
"Depending on your requirements, there are two licensing models available. A simple point model, or an endpoint model."
"I rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten on a scale where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"Licensing is a little steep."
"The pricing or licensing cost for Micro Focus SiteScope is often bundled with other things, so the cost for each individual would be difficult to calculate. Pricing could be $2,000,000 a year. My company pays for technical support because it's part of the contract with Micro Focus SiteScope. You buy the licenses, but you're also paying for the support. With Nagios, it's much more bare-bones as far as paying for licenses and the software itself, and my company didn't have to use as much Nagios support yet in one or two years because there weren't too many problems using Nagios, and it's much more cost-effective, so that's one of the reasons why my company is migrating to Nagios from Micro Focus SiteScope."
