Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I find the implementation process of GeneXus to be easy.""The solution provides ease of programming and the speed of delivery of demands.""The most valuable feature is that GeneXus works with several languages. It's possible to develop chatbots and other functionalities.""I like the testing models, which allow me to create unit or interface tests of my programs. It helps us avoid missed deadlines because we can detect all the errors before deploying the new versions of the solution. And I also like the integration with coding managers like DevOps or Jenkins. It enables us to do versioning.""In Knowledge Base, being able to model the workflow before developing the screens is great. We first work with the tables or the transactions using GeneXus and then we work on the screens.""I like that it's very compatible with other tools. The most important feature is getting the developer to focus on the project's business case. It's not about focusing on how I can command this or how I can develop a front end, or how I can work with the advantages. The developer should focus on the business case of the project. No need to focus on connecting the database to the server or connecting the server and the front end. The developer can concentrate on the views.""It is fast in creating systems and connects to the database quickly.""GeneXus evolves with technology."

"The main benefit lies in its exceptional speed of implementation.""You can build your own customized, native, mobile applications in an efficient matter.""The most valuable feature is usability. You can develop components inside it and reuse them in different parts of your application, wherever needed. You can replicate them. There's also a Quantum Fabric on the back end, which provides a middle layer between your database and the third-party systems you need to integrate. It also provides the integration to handle all sorts of exceptions and timeouts on the Fabric. This makes it easy to troubleshoot errors coming from third-party APIs.""The visualizer and API manager are super useful. It's easy to create applications for the agent. Automations and other complex tasks can be hard, but it's mostly straightforward. You can create forms and populate tables.""It is an important solution for reducing the development efforts by developing a mobile application efficiently, in a shorter period of time, across multiple platforms, such as Android and iOS.""Comparing other solutions with Temenos Quantum, the later is less mature and presents several issues. Implementing Temenos Quantum has been challenging, resembling a nightmare compared to the smoother experience with the other.""We can use a single channel to create an interface for iOS, Android, and other channels.""The best feature is the Kony Studio, which is the product that is used to develop interfaces."

Cons
"Documentation is always an issue. In order to develop with GeneXus, there is very little documentation. The documentation is not clear enough in order to develop a great tool.""GeneXus's user interface has room for improvement.""It would be helpful to have additional assisted processing with training.""The graphical interface could be improved. I also notice some performance problems on hardware that should be more than adequate. GeneXus uses a lot of RAM and other computer resources.""The tool needs to be tuned before being used. You need some experience to get the best out of the tool.""GeneXus is a wonderful tool for the backend. It's the best in the world, but for the frontend, GeneXus needs to improve. There should be easier steps for managing various aspects, such as alerts and messages to show to the end-users.""There are issues in integrating it with other solutions.""It would be better if GeneXus had a wiki. The developer needs some experience to work with the tools. It would be better if they could improve the community. If we have some problem, I open a ticket that takes us to a board, and I have to describe my issue in detail. If the tools have a general community for us to explore with some videos or some articles, I think that that may help the developer."

More GeneXus Cons →

"There are many issues when integrating with native sides when building an Android application of the retail accelerator or an iOS application of the retail actuator. We have to incorporate on the native side of things, which creates a lot of issues. Temenos Quantum is a proprietary product and not open source. There is not much information available on the internet for developers to reference when solving issues. You have to contact the help desk, who will then give you an appointment and work to resolve the issue. In terms of what Temenos can do better, they can make the product more mature so that we do not encounter as many black holes when encountering an issue.""It would be highly beneficial if future iterations of Temenos could incorporate support for QR-based payment methods, as it would enhance the platform's capabilities and align it more closely with modern payment trends""They need to improve their tech support's abilities. They do have a good tech support, but it still requires improvement.""There is definitely room for improvement, especially in the areas of AI, AR, and DR for mobile and web applications""When developing our application, we also encountered certain issues related to delays and time-consuming builds.""The security and the interface technology could be better in Temenos Quantum. Additionally, a module that can display all the activities that have been done in the system would be helpful.""We would like to have widgets for graphs and analytics, as well as the integration of machine learning.""The UI lacks flexibility, especially regarding customizations. There are numerous issues at the fabric end, and working with the visualizer is extremely challenging. Basic development tasks require a high-end machine, and even clicking on an icon initiates a thirty-second processing time. The challenges mainly revolve around fabric and content."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solution is very expensive."
  • "I don't know about the price because I am an employee, but I hear it's cheaper than other tools."
  • "This solution offers multi-plan licenses, depending on the size of the company and the features required, as opposed to being priced per user/device."
  • "The cost of a GeneXus license is extremely high. At the same time, one person using the solution can do the work of three Java or data developers. I think that's why they charge so much. It's too expensive, which is one reason it isn't widely used."
  • "It's expensive. I'd rate it a four out of ten in terms of pricing."
  • "I give the cost of the solution a four out of ten."
  • "The price is good."
  • "I know that its licenses are generally per year, and in the past, the license for GeneXus was around $5,000, but I don't know what's the current price of the GeneXus license."

  • "The price is too high. The annual cost for the Kony license is very high. Every year you have to renew it in order to maintain it"
  • "This is an expensive solution, and it is the biggest challenge that we face when we present this platform to customers."

Clients can buy licenses for five or ten years and pay for them upfront, or they can set up a yearly renewal cycle."
  • "Temenos Quantum is an expensive tool. Taking into consideration my company's use of Temenos Quantum for a bank, the costs attached to the solution ranged from 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 USD for building one application for the bank."
