We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The analytics has a lot of advantages because there are 300 default use cases for rules and we can modify them per our environment. We can create other rules as well. Analytics is a useful feature.""Previously, it was a little bit difficult to find where an incident came from, including which IP address and which country. So in Sentinel, it's very easy to find where the incident came from since we can easily get the information from the dashboard, after which we take action quickly.""The best feature is that onboarding to the SIM solution is quite easy. If you are using cloud-based solutions, it's just a few clicks to migrate it.""There are some very powerful features to Sentinel, such as the integration of various connectors. We have a lot of departments that use both IaaS and SaaS services, including M365 as well as Azure services. The ability to leverage connectors into these environments allows for large-scale data injection.""The log analysis is excellent; it can predict what can or will happen regarding use patterns and vulnerabilities.""Sentinel improved how we investigate incidents. We can create watchlists and update them to align with the latest threat intelligence. The information Microsoft provides enables us to understand thoroughly and improve as we go along. It allows us to provide monthly reports to our clients on their security posture.""The solution has features that helped improve the security posture of our clients. It provides the ability to correlate a large variety of log sources very cost-effectively, especially for Microsoft sources.""The most valuable features are its threat handling and detection. It's a powerful tool because it's based on machine learning and on the behavior of malware."

"Our customer acquires the complete report which is kept for future auditing purposes.""It is a good and stable solution...It is a scalable solution.""Alerting upon file changes is the most valuable aspect of the product."

More FileAudit Pros →

"It makes everything easier by automating some tasks and growing with our needs.""One of the most valuable features is the business intelligence engine. It's very important because it keeps track of everything that's happening and alerts us if something is different than expected. The first time I used it, I was shocked at how well it performed. Another valuable feature that I think makes this product worth the price you pay for it is that it connects to basically every system that provides some form of logging, and it's very easy to set up what triggers this.""The solution's Kusto Query Language (KQL) execution time is pretty good.""Sentinel gave us logs to tell us what's going right and wrong in your environment so we could secure the network.""The most valuable feature of this solution is that it provides a central locking system for many event sources.""The stability is phenomenal and we never had any issues with downtime or even had to restart.""The native integration with out-of-the box format is hassle free and allows data to be used advantageously.""The most valuable feature of Sentinel is the dashboard."

Cons
"When we pass KPIs to the governance department, there's no option to provide rights to the data or dashboard to colleagues. We can use Power BI for this, but it isn't easy or convenient. They should just come up with a way to provide limited role-based access to auditing personnel""Its implementation could be simpler. It is not really simple or straightforward. It is in the middle. Sometimes, connectors are a little bit complex.""The dashboards can be improved. Creating dashboards is very easy, but the visualizations are not as good as Microsoft Power BI. People who are using Microsoft Power BI do not like Sentinel's dashboards.""The product can be improved by reducing the cost to use AI machine learning.""The following would be a challenge for any product in the market, but we have some in-house apps in our environment... our apps were built with different parameters and the APIs for them are not present in Sentinel. We are working with Microsoft to build those custom APIs that we require. That is currently in progress.""It would be good to have some connectors for third-party SIEM solutions. Many customers are struggling with the integration of Azure Sentinel with their on-premise SIEM. Microsoft is changing the log structure many times a year, which can corrupt a custom integration. It would be good to have some connectors developed by Microsoft or supply vendors, but they are not providing such functionality or tools.""They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome.""The data connectors for third-party tools could be improved, as some aren't available in Sentinel. They need to be available in the data connector panel."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"Whenever someone cuts and paste, it shows as "file is deleted".""The DLP function, including installation of the agent on the workstation and controlling the DLP restrictions, are areas where the product lacks.""The updates management and central management console could be improved."

More FileAudit Cons →

"This product's connection to certain types of cloud systems could be improved. We can do Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, but there are a lot of other things happening in the cloud that we do not connect well enough to. This product could be improved with better connection to cloud-based solutions.""I rate Sentinel a six out of ten for scalability.""You need a lot of Unix scripting knowledge in order to manage the tool, which is one of the main issues that we faced.""I would like to see a better reporting work structure on the dashboard.""There is a need for more flexibility in customization, especially when working with different vendors and platforms.""The solution does not allow outsourced authorizations.""There is no integration in the web-side of the tool.""The dashboard and customer view should be improved"

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "FileAudit provides a trial license for 30 days, and after that, customers can choose between perpetual licensing or the annual-based licensing option offered by FileAudit."

  • "We inquired about getting support from the vendor, Micro Focus, but the cost was very high."
  • "We receive a pricing discount because of our ongoing partnership with Micro Focus."
  • "Sentinel's slightly on the expensive side."
  • "The solution’s pricing is aligned with its competitors."
