it was (previously) not aesthetically pleasing. It's more user friendly, now. They changed the interface, so there's not so many duplicate screens.
The number one way they improved this product was something called workspaces. This is like a dashboard meant for, depending on your role with a specific organization, so maybe if you're in accounting and financials, you need to see accounts receivable, accounts payable, your general ledger, so you could set up a dashboard for when you first login -- to drill down into the most important parts of your job and requirements with the company that you need visibility into -- rather than having to start from scratch, so you could set up your own dashboard. Macola is user based, so say you have seven primary users in your company, say you have your president, your CFO, your controller, your accounting manager, your IT person, your operations person, and your warehouse manager, you can customize as many as you want, depending on how many users you buy and have each individual dashboard be tailored towards that individual and their job/role with the company.

Has connected financial data across departments and improved future cash flow planning
I would like to improve the integration with other solutions, as I need everything integrated, like the HR module, purchase module, SCM, production, and engineering. Each and every module should be connected to the finance module, and I think Oracle provides the right solution. Also, SAP, IFS, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 offer some solutions, but I am not as happy with them as I am with Oracle. I believe that Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by transitioning from Java-based scripts in our system to a web-based environment. While Oracle already has JD Edwards available in web-based format, I think it needs to be smoother for optimization and presentation in the future. In comparison, IFS is fully web-based, and all applications are sufficiently good and user-friendly. We are developing and trying to improve to a web-based setup, but it is currently too costly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Whether it's light or heavy manufacturing with bill of materials, traceability, order entry, stuff like that, I mean, that's probably the number one strength of Macola ES, I would say, for light and heavy manufacturing organizations."
"When I put these aside, EBS saves time and increases the efficiency for the customers."
"Regarding the valuable features, the automation is inherent in all systems, including Oracle E-Business Suite. It helps in various business processes, depending on the company's behavior and requests."
"Payroll and online benefits enrollment"
"I especially like E-Business Suite's data management functionality - I would say it provides perfect data management inside the app."
"Employee Central and the core HR functionality is exciting!"
"Rapidly implement jobs, positions, grades, and steps within setup of organizational structure."
"Valuable features include expense management and the accounting suite of products."
"The most valuable features of the Oracle E-Business Suite are best practices, built-in processes, and easy configuration, with plenty of system functionality and customization."

Cons

"If you have to call Exact Macola directly as a developer, it's like calling Verizon; you don't know if you're speaking with someone from India, or knows anything about your account, or they're seeing it for the first time."
"A downside of Oracle E-Business Suite is its interface because it's less user-friendly than the latest cloud solutions. As an organization, Oracle now has more interest in cloud applications, so nowadays, it doesn't focus much on Oracle E-Business Suite, an on-premises solution, so this is another downside."
"In the future, Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by having a better UI. Competitors are providing much better interfaces."
"The technical support is good, although sometimes it is very difficult to get an answer from them right away."
"Oracle E-Business Suite is not great for small and medium-sized enterprises."
"The document that supports the Oracle E-Business Suite regarding the installation and upgrading is long compared to other products and needs to be enhanced."
"There are some business-specific processes still not implemented."
"User interface is outdated and not user friendly."
"Oracle is easy to implement at a new organization like ours, but it might be more challenging for an established organization with more rules and policies in place."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"This is a highly-priced application and would not be affordable for small or medium business domains."
"Oracle's licenses are not straightforward."
"Oracle generally gives a lot of discounts."
"USD $100,000 annually."
"The price would be better if it were lower."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"Find a best Oracle partner and get a better discount."
"Oracle E-Business Suite is heavy subscriptions based and the solution's upgrades, under the technology licensing, are quite costly. Additionally, support is an extra cost. The price of the solution could be reduced."
