We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Its robust security audit and compliance functionalities prove especially beneficial for businesses in sectors like BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) and Information Technology.""The role-based access features for the teams that administer it is good.""The core of its value lies in obtaining logs remotely and exercising control over what employees can or cannot use.""I like the data protection feature. Our users were working on a client's CRM application with a lot of client-related EIA information. We did not want the users to be able to send any of this data outside. I also like its ability to protect against data leaks via emails and social media. I like that you can deploy it quickly, and it requires no training.""There are effectively two areas of DLP to look at from a technical perspective. One is how it performs the pickup of information traversing the system and the other is how the policy engine, which analyzes the data, works. On the first aspect, CoSoSys is probably best of breed for macOS because they're reasonably well-integrated into the operating system. They're looking at the file system operations level, not at the execution level.""The most valuable features are Device Control, Content-Aware Protection, Enforced Encryption, and eDiscovery.""The product's most valuable feature is its ability to support Linux operating systems.""The software is easy to use and the dashboard is intuitive."

"The auto-labeling feature is definitely the most valuable feature. It goes in and labels the documents for you in different repositories. It covers the Outlook and Exchange repositories along with SharePoint and OneDrive. It is really helpful in those areas.""Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's responses are faster. Its installation is also reliable. The security score helps with the security part.""For Purview's natively integrated compliance across Azure, Dynamics 365, and Office 365, I would give it a 10 out of 10. It provides all the insights and information.""I rate Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's stability a ten out of ten.""The most valuable features are identifying sensitive data and issuing alerts.""The product can block the uploads to cloud services.""One of the valuable features of Purview is the ability to create a legal hold on a user's account within the compliance portal. That's pretty useful when it comes to any litigation or if you want to redeem the content within a mailbox, OneDrive, or a generic public SharePoint site.""It has helped our clients to reduce the time to action on insider threats because it can be integrated."

Cons
"The reports and analysis could be improved. There could be a little more data, and the logs could be a little more granular, but it's nothing major. It does what it needs to do, and it's fine.""Endpoint Protector would be improved with more DLP templates.""In Linux a user can remove a getent anytime. There is no control there on the file structure in Linux. So if this solution could give us information on what users removed in the dashboard, it would help us.""It needs to improve in terms of policy customization.""They have many predefined classifiers in terms of data identifiers, and they should improve this.""This product provides zero-day protection for macOS, although I'm currently dealing with an issue on the most recent rollout of the Endpoint client that doesn't seem to be fully functioning.""We are currently facing an issue where it is blocking the Winman software, which is something that we don't want to happen because we use it in our accounts department to pay taxes.""It would be helpful if they offered discounted pricing for long-term contracts to serve customers who are interested in committing for periods of three years, five years, or longer."

More CoSoSys Endpoint Protector Cons →

"Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's licensing is expensive.""They do not provide language options beyond the ones already available, so our language option is missing.""The AI advancements can improve the false positives.""The solution should provide better integration with other systems.""There is no AIP for Linux systems. That's a setback. Another thing it's lacking is libraries to work with Python. It has libraries for C# and C++, for example, but not for Python and, these days, Python is very useful.""There is a lot of ambiguity when you are setting up labels, such as sensitive information labels. It is a little daunting at first if you don't have prior knowledge, and there is a little bit of a learning curve for setting up the labels. Some of the setup wizards could be more helpful from an AI perspective. They can streamline the setup through more AI technologies so that you don't have to jump through so many hoops and different menus and dropdowns. It would be useful to have a setup wizard that is more hands-off and engaging for setting up the information type labels. If you tell them this is what we're trying to protect, it should basically start to lead you down that path of best practices. Such a feature would be great.""The platform can be challenging to navigate and has the potential for improvement.""Technical support is awful."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This is a budget-friendly solution that covers all the aspects of host-level DLP."
  • "The price of Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys is more or less the same as other competing solutions."
  • "It has a fair price. They just changed recently from perpetual licensing. When I bought it, I bought it on perpetual license, then they changed the whole company policy to go to subscription. It was a bit of a shock to us because we haven't upgraded it that many times. However, after speaking to CoSoSys directly, they gave us a very good renewal price."
  • "I don't have any issue with the licensing and pricing. I would love for it to be cheaper, but at the same time I'm getting a lot from it."
  • "[The pricing] is reasonable compared to what's out there."
  • "Pricing is quite reasonable. For smaller organizations, it lets them get into the product domain, whereas a lot of vendors won't even talk to them. CoSoSys is just about at that sweet spot of being serious enough that you have to budget for it, but at the same time, affordable enough that the value is well worth it."
  • "The minimum number of licenses they sell is 50 or 150 users."
  • "For what it's doing, the cost is somewhat high for us, but it's the cost of doing business with the clients that we have."

  • "It is a part of our Microsoft licensing. We pay for a yearly renewal. Its price is reasonable for the size of the organization we are. It is fairly competitive, and you get what you pay for. We have an E5 license, and a part of understanding the E5 license is to see what all you get with it. If you really look at it from that standpoint, you get a lot of value. You have Defender and all its security features in there as well. Their licensing is fairly flexible. They have different programs. We've seen ones where you could pay for up to three to five years in advance. There is also a monthly pay-as-you-go type of deal, but we're doing a yearly renewal and fixing the budget."
  • "Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is part of a bundle and is not sold as a standalone product."
  • "The product has the best price-to-performance ratio."
  • "It's a little bit pricey compared to competitors, but it's not too high."
  • "We are using the E3 license for Microsoft 365 with the E5 compliance license add-on."
  • "The pricing is reasonable."
  • "I am satisfied with the tool's pricing."
