Quick connection improves troubleshooting efficiency
The best feature that Datto Remote Monitoring and Management offers is the connectivity, which seems to be a whole lot quicker and responsive than Kaseya 10. That responsiveness is important for my work because in the car business, everything is about being done with speed, so being able to connect to these computers quickly is an advantage because the quicker we can fix the problem, the quicker they're able to make a sale. We have been able to save response time on solving issues and troubleshooting with computers, which is a return on investment.

Scalable, good search features, and good options for multiple displays
I like the options for multiple displays. The unattended access is very useful, but it can also be misused. So, it is something you have to be careful with. The search features are really nice. When you type in a keyword, every single thing, whether it's a group or a machine, with that phrase will come up. There are a lot of features that we just don't utilize and maybe we could, but we're pretty straightforward about it. It is nice to use the file transfer feature from time to time, and it is really nice to be able to just copy from your desktop and paste onto the LogMeIn session.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The remote tool is nice. If a user needs assistance, I don't have to tell the user to do anything. I just ask the user if I can remote in, and 30 seconds later, I have remoted in. It has been really handy."
"It has a single pane of glass, and it integrates well with other software."
"The best feature that Datto Remote Monitoring and Management offers is the connectivity, which seems to be a whole lot quicker and responsive than Kaseya 10."
"Even when the connection to the server is lost, the monitoring continues without interruption."
"Automation, in terms of the standard patches and standard updates, and remote support are valuable. When it does the standard Windows and patches, it works really well. This is something they focus on. Remote support is also something they focus on quite a bit, and it works really well. Being able to get to an agent or a client computer right away is very helpful."
"The tool's main valuable features are its ease of use and intuitive console. It's very easy to implement and create policies. I don't need highly technical staff to manage the tool, which is a big advantage."
"We support nine different nonprofits, and the billing took the manager three or four days working on spreadsheets. When I finished automating everything with Datto, we cut everything down to a couple of hours. That's a substantial cost savings on the billing side."
"The alerting system helps us determine what are high level alerts, and what are alerts which can wait for a day or two. We catch RAID failures, hot servers, bad drives (or predicted failures on drives), etc."
"It’s enabled me to remotely do updates to servers and workstations in off-hours – without needing to travel into the office. Makes my life much easier."
"It is a scalable solution."
"Unattended remote assistance."
"It allows you to transfer along with many other functions."
"Provides remote access, allows me to get inside our network to be able to fix problems."
"I have called for help to their technical support, and they have been extremely helpful."
"No issues with stability. It has worked on every platform I’ve tried it on, and not interfered with anything."
"The ability to remotely access machines with no user intervention required at the remote terminal. Other software we used needed someone to click a link and do a download for me to provide support. Now, with LogMeIn Central, I can get in and fix things while they are away from their desks."

Cons

"They have a tab to provide information about the type of hardware the computers have. One thing they don't specify is what model of hard drive the computers have. Identification of storage models would be nice."
"The CRM capabilities are not very good. It's clunky and could work a lot better than it does. There are no marketing add-ins, for example."
"We would like to see a little more functionality when monitoring network devices, such as switches and routers."
"Sometimes we have some downtime when Datto is doing updates. Maybe it's because of the cloud service they use. I'm not sure if they're going through AWS or Azure or what. That's happened, but the outages have been few and far between."
"My most significant criticism is Datto is a complex product that takes a while to understand, but that could be said of almost any solution at the same level. It depends on where you're starting from. You have to rework all your workflows, and it's some heavy lifting if you want to get it right."
"The actual setup and the automation of their product are horrific. When you buy it, there is nothing out of the box. You have to custom design it for everything you want it to do. You pay for implementation, but they don't really do a whole lot to help you get it going. I know it does a lot more than what ours is set up to do, which is frustrating. When I've demoed other systems, their setup is so much better. When you pay for their setup, there is so much more, whereas I just feel like we didn't get a very good setup."
"I would like the ability to remotely manage configuration and settings on individual units. Some organizations have a certain device configuration that needs to be consistent across all computers. For example, if we have computers that cannot go to sleep or hibernate because they're being accessed remotely, we need to be able to quickly configure those computers to not hibernate. With Datto, there is no easy and/or direct way to accomplish this. I can't create a group called No Hibernate and drag all those computers to that group so that they do not go into hibernation. There is no easy way to put in a policy or a procedure like that. It's still back to going to each computer and doing it by hand, which is what I'm trying to get away from. I want to automate and simplify as much as possible. I write code and scripts to do most of my work anyways. The intention is to get away from me having to be so hands-on."
"Be prepared to spend a lot of time on conversions if you have a lot of clients."
"The solution is expensive as hell."
"Do not use the technical support."
"It needs backwards compatibility for non-Microsoft-supported operating systems, for example, XP and 2003. In situations where I have no options but to run older operating systems, I would like for it to be backwards compatible."
"Compared to other products, I feel that their biggest weakness has been customer service. They are very nice, but things take forever to resolve. It has been a major issue there. Otherwise, we're happy. We haven't moved away from them because we haven't found anybody with comparable pricing for our business model."
"The update issues are an absolute pain. It says it is updating things, but the updates do not go through, and you try your hardest to get the updates to go through and they don't. You go to the PC, but there is no update there, then you go back and it says there are updates."
"File transfer on the free version needs improvement. Allow file transfer with drag and drop to and from Remote Desktop. "
"LogMeIn Rescue could be made a lot easier where you could just tell the person where to go and log in, and they could just log in. Or even make it simpler where you could just send a file to a person and they would click on it; just something easier. The way they have it right now, it's not easy."
"The initial load is terribly slow and often has delays with the login page loading."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It goes by how many endpoints you have. It is about $3,000 a month for us. If we can't figure it out ourselves and need additional help to set it up, we would have to pay for that."
"It fluctuates on the number of computers you have. Depending on the number of computers you have, it can fluctuate anywhere between $5 to $10 per computer per month, which is not too bad. I am not aware of any additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee. It was one flat rate per device."
"Regarding pricing, Kaseya sells it as part of a bundle called Kaseya 360. This package includes several tools, such as EDR, ransomware protection, and more. Considering the bundle, the price is reasonable. However, where I am in Brazil, the high dollar rate and taxes make it not cheap for mid-sized companies. Still, it's competitively priced compared to similar tools."
"We had to pay out some overtime for a few problematic sites. Sites on domain networks are incredibly easy to install. We learned a few tricks that streamlined the process, but in the beginning, it was a bit tedious."
"AEM is a lot more scalable as you just pay per agent instead of having to purchase expensive licenses."
"The license typically depends on the number of endpoints. On the RMM side, I think we're paying around $2,250 per endpoint. Then there is also a license per user and tech, so that comes out to about a hundred bucks per tech, give or take."
"It is a little pricey. I have more than five seats, so I pay a $1000/year."
"It's getting more expensive and we are starting to evaluate other products. It's starting to become unaffordable."
"It used to be a lot cheaper but then the price shot up (doubled over the span of two years), but it's hard to switch, and most competing products are similarly priced anyway."
"The price is a little high but it's competitive. The licensing process is fairly easy."
"It really is an expensive product for me."
"The price needs improvement. It is ridiculously expensive now, and no features have really changed."
"It sucks that I am paying for LogMeIn Central, LogMeIn Pro, and LogMeIn Rescue, plus LogMeIn Ignition, which is the mobile app. It costs me a lot of money every month at LogMeIn. "
"Coming from where it was free, it's getting to be expensive."
