Featured Reviews

AKASH MAJUMDER - PeerSpot reviewer
Incident response times have significantly reduced with efficient device integration and log parsing capabilities
Cortex XSIAM needs improvements in terms of data onboarding, parsers, and third-party integration supports. Additionally, a future update request is to enable tagging of endpoints in groups, similar to a feature available in Cortex XDR. The AI analytics need fine-tuning because some use cases are not working from my side.
Rafal-Stas - PeerSpot reviewer
Helpful in areas like event management, log viewing, and information management
The product's initial setup phase on the cloud is pretty easy but on an on-premises version, I think it is of a moderate level. The solution is deployed on the cloud and on an on-premises model. The time required to deploy the solution depends on the customers' infrastructure, and it may range from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, as it depends on how many additional custom configurations are required. Around two to three engineers are usually involved in the tool's installation process.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Its ability to deliver a substantial amount of security intelligence greatly enhances and optimizes our security operations program."
"One of the valued aspects of the product is its use of artificial intelligence to detect security vulnerabilities."
"The automation capabilities significantly improve response times by allowing us to respond to incidents from a single dashboard rather than navigating multiple dashboards."
"It does a better job of identifying anomalies that are more likely to be incidents of compromise without as many false positives or false negatives."
"One of the valued aspects of the product is its use of artificial intelligence to detect security vulnerabilities."
"Since implementing Cortex XSIAM, incident response times have been significantly reduced by approximately twenty percent."
"It is an effective solution in terms of performance and functionalities."
"The most valuable aspect is that Cortex XSIAM doesn't generate excessive alerts, refines all search results effectively, and filters out incidents where SOC intervention isn't necessary, allowing engineers to focus only on what matters."
"SolarWinds is easy to configure, and it provides timely alerts."
"SolarWinds Security Event Manager has been generally working well."
"The graphical user interface is very user-friendly. SolarWinds is a hybrid solution so you can use it across many platforms."
"We had to integrate with other teams, and the infrastructure deployment didn't take long. The integration involves learning with different teams, networking, and configuring various network devices and servers. Infrastructure deployment only took one or two days."
"The most valuable feature of SolarWinds Security Event Manager is the analysis and the knowledge about the incidence that we trace."
"The most valuable feature is the reporting."
"The solution helps you monitor database instances, application instances, other customer application things, Linux servers, IBM servers, and Oracle servers."
"The solution helps me to go back in time and search for different events. For example, if you wanted to know who activated an account; you could go back in time and find out."

Cons

"I would rate the overall stability a six or seven, as we have only used it for a few months and need a year of experience to provide a full assessment."
"It could provide more integration with a large variety of products."
"The standard integrations are very limited, and the integrations available are not listed in the marketplace. Obtaining validation for integrations from Palo Alto takes around eight months, which is quite long."
"Cortex XSIAM needs improvements in terms of data onboarding, parsers, and third-party integration supports."
"The first impression is that XSIAM would be more expensive than others we tried."
"The solution’s pricing and technical support could be improved."
"Further integration capabilities with various other software products that can seamlessly tie into Cortex XSIAM would be advantageous."
"There is room for improvement in expanding integrations to include more cybersecurity solutions."
"The company had to use a third party for the implementation of the solution."
"The product should improve the ease with which you can create event alerts. They are not as hard now but you need to have an easier way."
"Under the new system, it is not upgradable the way they say. When you try to do an upgrade, it doesn't really work unless you dump everything and start from scratch. You lose a lot of your nodes. Whenever you set your nodes up and everything else, they don't want to bring those nodes back in, so you have to really go back and restructure all your nodes. I went from version 6.5 to version 6.6 and then to version 6.7. I then went to version 2019, and now it is version 2020. It would be good if we can upgrade without having to delete everything and start from scratch. They can maybe build more KPIs and other things for the dashboard. Some of the other systems already have built-in KPIs. SolarWinds is starting to catch up, but it is not there yet. They can include some of the business or industry standards for tracking the time, that is, the meantime to detect (MTTD) and the meantime to resolve (MTTR). They can also find a way to build a KPI that measures the number of instances of port scans experienced in a week or a month."
"Training for this solution needs to be improved, as new employees are sometimes unfamiliar with the product."
"There is no correlation made between log entries, so no threat information is presented."
"There are no multiple dashboards which would allow you to see information side-by-side."
"The only issue is the pricetag. SolarWinds is a costly solution."
"It won't tell you when your backups are failing, but it will give you hints when your database is running on full recovery."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In terms of pricing, we found Cortex XSIAM to offer a very reasonable and competitive rate."
"The product cost could be considered value for money compared to other solutions in the market, though it is quite high."
"Since Palo Alto is trying to get as many new customers as possible, they're offering very competitive pricing."
"The solution comes at a significant cost."
"The solution is expensive compared to its competitors."
"It is in the appropriate mid-range. It is not as expensive as some of the other solutions. It is also not cheap."
"The tool is available at a good price for customers compared to other solutions in the market. I rate the product's price as an eight out of ten."
"The price of SolarWinds Security Event Manager is reasonable."
"The pricing model would benefit from having package deals with other SolarWinds products."
"Licenses can only be purchased in blocks of fifty at a time."
"Licensing is on devices, so if you have many, then this may be high."
"We do a yearly license renewal. For a year, the solution costs roughly $500,000 USD. There are no costs beyond this yearly fee."
