We use Carbon Black for monitoring.  We haven't experienced any significant incidents, yet. So far, we've mostly been weeding out all the false positives.  Carbon Black provides an overview of all our assets and their status.  Carbon Black's support could be better.  I have used Carbon Black…

Improving alert visibility and reporting has reduced workload and strengthened security posture
Huntress Managed EDR could be improved by providing more visibility into each alert that comes in and what action was taken on it. There have been times when an alert was received through Microsoft Defender indicating an account was accessed, when in reality it was blocked by a conditional access policy, yet when checking the Huntress portal, that event does not appear at all, lacking indication that it was raised and investigated as not a threat. The reporting in Huntress Managed EDR is fairly basic, as the only available report is effectively an executive summary. Although it contains useful information, other platforms have reporting engines that are much more robust and customizable, functionality that appears to be missing in Huntress.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The greatest value of MDR involves the tests, reporting and alerts, so that we may respond immediately."
"The valuable features are threat hunting, threat intelligence feeds, and it culls all the activities of the endpoint. Additionally, the ML and AI engines are really good."
"I don't have to take care of this product; it's just working and that's it, and I don't have to think about anything."
"The installation process is quick and easy."
"This is where Carbon Black has been phenomenal for us, it has detected many security concerns."
"Carbon Black provides an overview of all our assets and their status."
"The greatest value of MDR involves the tests, reporting and alerts, so that we may respond immediately."
"Huntress Managed EDR has helped me reduce the need for expensive security tools or to hire expensive security analysts."
"The stability is perfect."
"I have nothing negative to say about my main use case or how my team interacts with Huntress Managed EDR because Huntress Managed EDR is superb."
"Huntress Managed EDR has helped significantly reduce our workload so that our engineers can focus on other tasks at hand."
"It is incredibly efficient for our engineering team because Huntress provides all the information needed to fix issues, not just flag them."
"Huntress has improved our security significantly by 90 percent."
"Using Huntress Managed EDR has helped reduce the need for expensive security tools and to hire expensive security analysts, which is important for our organization because it keeps the level of security heightened and across the top of all of our clients' minds."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that it has a manned security operation center, not AI-driven."

Cons

"In the future, it would be great if they could provide endpoint management and the ADR solution together in this package."
"As the solution has changed hands, I expect some changes in licensing and in support. It remains to be seen if that will be good or bad."
"Carbon Black's support could be better."

"One issue is the managed antivirus. Huntress takes control of the antivirus built into Windows Defender, but it doesn't if, for some reason, Defender isn't working properly and doesn't attempt to fix it. We have to fix it with some scripts so that Defender reports correctly to Huntress. It would be nice if they took that action on our behalf. If they saw a problem with Defender, they should roll out a fix."
"One area where Huntress Managed EDR can improve is in alerting."
"Installing Huntress on a Mac presents a challenge for end users due to the operating system's security features, which require administrator privileges for installation."
"Incident reporting could be a little bit cleaner."
"Huntress has a cyber education platform, but it lacks all the languages we need."
"I would like to see an easier way to whitelist sites or to monitor some of the reporting that Huntress Managed EDR does."
"Not every time, but sometimes when we click on the remediation, the auto-resolution of the alert, the screen gets stuck, and I need to contact support so they can confirm the remediation was applied, and they have to close the ticket."
"Reporting for Huntress Managed EDR could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of this solution is inexpensive compare with others. The company went out of its way to provide us with a favorable discount. However, there is room for improving the current licensing model and the price of some of the fees. The model is complex and could be streamlined."
"The tool’s price is very good. You just need to pay for the standard license. However, you need to pay the additional cost for Microsoft Defender."
"The pricing is competitive, in line with Huntress's offerings, and aligns well with our business model."
"It works well for an MSP."
"Huntress is priced fairly for the services and value it provides."
"The solution's pricing is fair."
"Huntress Managed EDR offers a fair pricing model."
"It is fair. They provide good value for the product that they deliver. I have had one price increase in the entire time I have used them. They added a bunch of features and then said that they have to increase our price a little bit. That is a fair way to handle it."
"Regarding the pricing for Huntress Managed EDR, I was amazed when I heard the price; I thought it was going to be way more than what it is based on the quality."
