Deployment meets needs with simple setup while improving customer support
We have deployed FortiGate 200F and 600E firewalls. The 600E was installed four years ago and is still running, and we deployed another 200F last year. We are continually adding base stations and wireless APs across our company network. For new users, there is a learning curve regarding installation, IP configuration, and technical issues. Since we have been using it since 2018, troubleshooting is not difficult for us. We have a server on premises that controls all the APs across our company. We have approximately 400 to 500 WiFi users across our company. We are not currently considering a different solution as it would require extra investment, which would cost too much for us now. I would rate Cambium Networks Wireless WAN a seven out of ten. Overall review rating: 5/10

Centralized features have simplified deployment and improved day-to-day network management
One of the best features of HPE Wireless WAN is Wi-Fi Direct, as it provides dual-band frequency and helps to connect Bluetooth with IoT devices. I am comfortable with this feature and find it beneficial for connectivity. I use centralized management features such as WLC. They have improved operational efficiency significantly. It is one of the best tools we have for centralized management because it is easy to manage, manually delete, and create sites. This makes it easy to implement policies across the network. I see measurable benefits from this centralized solution, which is quite easy to handle as people are comfortable managing the tool. Users do not need hardcore technical expertise to operate it on a day-to-day basis, making it quite comfortable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a stable solution."
"It is a good product for cloud management."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the network strength, which allows for coverage over a larger distance."
"Cambium Networks Wireless WAN is more into the wireless and access points"
"The claim management feature is exceedingly simple."
"The feature that I really liked is the mesh feature. Currently, we are in quarantine, and the request of home users is that they need to cover the whole house or the whole indoor house. Mesh solution works really nice in Cambium environment. Being able to set up access points in advance is a good feature. It lets you set up the whole environment in your lab or any other place before deploying the access points."
"What I find valuable is the fact that you don't need to purchase any license. Basically you just get the hardware for the access points, configure an IP and connect it with a switch."
"When we log in to the device, we can easily configure it. So it is quite user-friendly."
"The tool is easy to manage."
"Setting up the solution initially is very easy."
"HPE Wireless WAN provides reliable connectivity."
"HP Wireless offers competitive pricing compared to Cisco and Fortinet."
"I like their features, such as reliability and high availability."
"The main benefit of this product is the lifetime warranty, up to 99 years. For example, if your switch card fails after 10 years, and the hardware fails, it will be replaced with the very same switch or the equivalent model available at the time."
"The reliability is good."
"The WiFi and high scalability are the most valuable features."

Cons

"It has voucher generation. These vouchers are provided to the customers. It would be great if there is a possibility to integrate these vouchers with the system that vendors use to print the receipts. For example, if you go to Starbucks, they provide you a receipt, and in that receipt, you have the code for the Wi-Fi network. I would like some kind of integration or API that can be integrated into any other system for generating such receipts. It would be a really nice feature. It has the cnMaestro portal that normally an integrator sets up. When you deploy this solution to a user, rather than generating a Cambium account, I would like to share this console with the users so that they can at least see the stability of the network and not necessarily trust what I said. It also allows the customers in visualizing the way that they are connecting and the way the network is behaving. I have been in touch with the Cambium team for these features, but they don't yet have the final answer. It is kind of hard to get these solutions immediately. It is a bit challenging to bring these devices to Lima, Peru, or to get Cambium from the distributors. They need to import these devices."
"Pricing tends to be higher than its competitors."
"Cambium should improve the product lineup for Cambium Networks Wireless WAN. Currently, when comparing it with other OEMs, the first lineup includes a product called 2x2 MU-MIMO, and if a customer needs a 4x4 MU-MIMO, they must go for a higher model."
"The solution's documentation should be made better and easily accessible to users."
"If someone wants to go to the location-based portal of the product, like the one available in Meraki, it would not be possible, and it is an area that needs improvement."
"The modulation could be optimized for better performance, and the configuration should be made adaptive to ensure dynamic adjustments as needed."
"Cambium Networks Wireless WAN's support services could be better."
"Cambium's solution is flexible for various connectivity needs, although there are limitations based on the specific equipment and metrics. The indoor coverage typically reaches up to sixty meters and may require external antennas for optimal performance and for outdoor connectivity, Cambium Networks offer excellent scalability and coverage, especially with sectorial access points."
"HPE Wireless WAN could provide better access points and better pricing."
"There are some areas that need improvement, such as connectivity issues and additional features that other products have."
"Mostly, I face problems with client connectivity and some devices, like Android."
"Technical support could be improved. They could respond a bit faster."
"The scalability is good, but it could improve."
"The tool must warn the management about unwanted traffic."
"The installation is easy. However, my implementation is complicated and you would need special training to complete it."
"The sales sync should connect with and sync up with the customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are not any licenses needed to use Cambium."
"There are no licensing fees, it's a one-time cost."
"I think the pricing is fine for Cambium."
"Pricing is fair enough."
"It is expensive."
"I rate the product’s pricing a two out of ten."
"The price of this solution is expensive in Bangladesh. The cost is approximately 56,000 BDT for the XV2 which is expensive. They should reduce their price."
"I rate Cambium Networks Wireless as 6 out of 10 since it is cheaper than its competitors like Ruckus, Cisco or Huawei."
"We have been satisfied with the price."
"I find the price to be reasonable."
"There is a license for this solution and the license is normally paid annually but this depends on the contract."
"If you are concerned with your budget, then you can go for the cheaper model."
"Price wise, it is on the medium end of the scale. It could be lower."
"The license cost of the product falls under the category of a moderately priced tool."
"The solution is quite expensive. You have to pay for every node and it can get expensive fast, it is approximately £3,000 per month."
"The price of HPE Wireless WAN is high."
