Broad perspective on strategic management exists but integration challenges hinder efficiency
The product execution part, such as planning and executing, is done through Atlassian tools, specifically Jira. We wanted to upgrade our ability to understand how all these products and teams are working against strategic goals, tracking expenses and time, but the integration between Broadcom Clarity and Atlassian Jira is very cumbersome and not straightforward. Their integration, even with ConnectALL, is just adequate, but it's never going to be great because they are actively trying to sell Rally. To make Broadcom Clarity a perfect product, I think with Jira, nothing can be done. To be fair, I don't know exactly how Rally integration works as I've only read about it, but I know that in marketing papers, it seems amazing with full-on integration, whereas with Jira, it just doesn't work that effectively.

A highly scalable tool that offers users the ability to use it for international projects
The most valuable feature of the solution is the functionality that it offers since the performance part is not so critical as you only use it to upload or download documents and create tasks. Celoxis is not used for very high transaction requirements. My company did not face any issues with Celoxis's performance. Celoxis was quite quick, and its functionality was rich, prompting my company to integrate it with many other project management features for which we previously used several other systems. Celoxis replaced and offered a product that was an integration of Excel and Microsoft Project into a single suite.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We just put all the data into one place and hopefully, after we have accurate data, we can make more decisions based on real data rather than gut feeling."
"For all the functionalities of the solution, the price is in the market range, since it is a product which offers governance issues and supports the digital transformation, which is where we will go in the next year."
"Having information altogether in one single source, being able to look at the data across team members, resources, projects and coming up with the algorithms and resources."
"Since the implementation of CA PPM, we can now ad-hoc a report or dashboard that has all information (allocated project hours, resource lists, risks and issues, and other data, for example) in a matter of minutes."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM is a high-value product that helps users become productive. It's a very stable, scalable, and fast platform, even from a self management perspective."
"The most valuable solutions for us are being able to share data across the organization to help use technology to drive our processes."
"Clarity is a strong project management and portfolio management product."
"The Project Portfolio Management software helped get all of your projects, all of our project costs, and all of our people working on those projects gathered together in one single place so we know what we're working on, and where we're spending our money."
"Celoxis is scalable in terms of the number of users or the number of projects that the product can handle. Even the storage that is available for a project is scalable in Celoxis."

Cons

"Technical support has been average. A lot of times, it takes a couple of days before we even get a decent response, or something that gets us closer."
"One of the major pain points for me when it comes to Broadcom Clarity PPM is the new UI. The new UI is very good in terms of functionality and the drag and draw features, but it's not very responsive. When I say that it's not very responsive, what I mean is that sometimes, the tool is not very user-friendly. For example, a user saves a value on the form, but the tool doesn't give any indication to the user that the value has been saved. Some users are moving from the classic UI to the new UI, and end up getting confused because on the classic UI, when you click "Save", it'll save the information and you'll get an indication that it was saved. With the new UI, it auto saves the information, but it doesn't give an indication in the form of a popup box that "this form has been saved", or any type of message indicating that the information was successfully saved. It's been confusing for users who move to the new UI because of that. The users don't understand when the values are being saved or not being saved, even if there's an auto-save feature in the new UI."
"The only real improvement from my side - I'm spoiled by things like Trello, with the very easy user interface, things like Basecamp - it's very much a static software project. If I was to focus on something it would be that user interface; making that something that is a joy to use, instead of something that feels like data entry."
"There is a lack of seamless integration with industry standard products."
"I would like to see more team-based management, and less people-based management; as far as the resource management goes, to do it per team and not per person."
"Many of our clients were not using some of these features, because of complexity and less customization facility, and I would like to see OOTB portlets on this product."
"We are in a SaaS environment, so we don't have direct access to the database."
"While I know it is coming in the roadmap, the risks issues and changes on the new UX would be amazing. However, the risks issues and changes are not in the new UX yet."
"One feature in Celoxis that is quite hard to understand and set up is its access management part."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs are a little bit high, and unfortunately, it has been a while since I've had that paperwork in front of me. I don't remember how much it was, but it seemed like it was fairly high. It is probably comparable to some of the other solutions because I do know that, for example, on a lot of the AWS stuff, they found that the costs wound up being higher than having some on-prem solution. Comparatively, Clarity is within the price range of other solutions."
"Pricing is flexible, depending on the customer and the region."
"Cost-wise, the tool is very expensive and some tools might be able to cater to 80% of the functionality provided by Broadcom Clarity PPM but are not as expensive."
"The subscription is not that expensive."
"We're also moving to the latest version for less than $20,000 for a major corporate system. It's just amazing."
"It is hard for them to say, "I have a person on my team who is going to be available, I am going to move that task to them". That requires a project management license, it doesn't require a team member license, so the licensing model does not sometimes support the way the business world is going."
"There are different licensing models with Broadcom Clarity PPM. With the software as a service model, you pay as you go, and if you are on-premises, you can buy a perpetual license and an annual fee for maintenance."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM costs us $500K, and that's only for the installation and kick off within the first year. For each succeeding year, it could cost $200K."
"Though I am unsure, I guess that my company pays around 20 to 25 USD every month for every user."
