Facilitates efficient branching and integration with flexible workflow management
Bitbucket Server excels as a versioning system, effectively managing branching and code integration. It provides flexibility, allowing teams to customize workflows according to their specific needs. We maintain a master branch for production and separate branches for different features, which makes it easier to manage code changes. Additionally, its integration with Jenkins pipelines for automating builds and performing various checks enhances its utility.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Bitbucket is a standard source code repository with all the features you would expect. It supports Git and SVN. It's an extensive tool that provides us with merging, branching, and change management capabilities. You can compare the changes with the current and previous versions."
"The most valuable thing we have found is the workloads are good in Jira and we are able to control the access."
"Bitbucket's most valuable feature is the web interface, which is useful compared to other tools, has a lot of features, and is intuitive."
"It allows me to track the code from ten years back, which is incredibly useful when trying to understand certain implementations in a project."
"The product's initial setup phase experience was good."
"Code check in and code version control."
"The planning model is good, and so is the suite of applications around it."
"It seems to be quite scalable."
"The platform's most valuable features are the code reviews and the ability to add comments to the code."
"The most valuable feature is that it has its own pipelines."
"It has consistently performed well without major issues, providing a reliable code management and collaboration environment."
"The initial setup is straightforward. It takes half an hour to deploy."
"Its integration with Jenkins pipelines for automating builds and performing various checks enhances its utility."
"The tool makes pushing codes and setting up CI/CD pipelines easy."
"It is an amazingly stable solution."
"Our code is secure."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in the workflow. Other similar tools offer automation and more streamlined workflows, which Bitbucket currently lacks."
"Bitbucket should consider having a CI/CD if they don’t have it already."
"I think the developers are constantly working on improving the pull requests support."
"Even with the automation, we've had some situations where we've had mistakes. They've integrated things into the wrong place, so there's a fairly steep learning curve."
"The product could be less expensive for small companies."
"Bitbucket's usability and integration with other tools could be improved somewhat. My other issue is that Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, and all the other ones use slightly different jargon for the same things. They should come up with a standard language for all these tools."
"Although Bitbucket is scalable, there's always room for improvement in terms of scalability."
"I would like to see the integration with some of the cloud service providers improved."
"The product's initial setup phase is complex."
"Instead of providing only raw features and plugins, Atlassian should provide a ready-to-use integration of both choices to incorporate "trunk-based" development."
"At the moment, there are not many details on how to proceed with the troubleshooting if one of the users faces an issue with the product."
"The improvements in the product could be made to expand third-party integrations and enhance support for open-source projects."
"The UI could be enhanced."
"The product requires patching and version improvements. Some functions do not work properly when we move from one version to another. We need a technical improvement. Also, communicating with other Atlassian products becomes cumbersome when we move from one version to another. I want Bitbucket Server to include a dashboard similar to Jira's. Atlassian must also develop a tool to scan our complete base for vulnerabilities."
"The response time of the product's support team may not be good enough to meet the expectations of users, making it an area where improvements are required."
"There might be further integration ideas for continuous deployment."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate Bitbucket's pricing a five out of ten."
"With our small number of users, our licensing fees are approximately $10 USD per month."
"Bitbucket is a low-priced tool."
"When you increase from ten people to anything higher the price increase to one thousand five hundred. That is unsatisfactory and they should have a gradual price slope."
"Sometimes there are issues in obtaining licenses and the pricing could be improved."
"Bitbucket may be perceived as costly for smaller companies."
"I rate the price from Bitbucket a four out of five."
"When it comes to licensing we have the standard plan."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. Prices can become expensive if you have a lot of users."
"There is a cost to use this solution but it is based on how many users are using it. If you have 50 users or 1,000 users the price will be very different."
"Bitbucket Server is quite expensive compared to other products."
"One needs to pay towards the licensing charges associated with the product."
"As for licensing, Bitbucket is one of the more affordable options."
"We opted for the on-premises solution, and while it's quite expensive, I believe there's room for improvement in terms of pricing. The licensing is based on the number of users, but I'm not entirely certain about the details."
"The solution comes as a part of the suite."
"The platform offers a free version for public repositories, which benefits open-source projects."
