Facilitates seamless data pipeline creation with good analytics and and thorough monitoring
Azure Data Factory is a low code, no code platform, which is helpful. It provides many prebuilt functionalities that assist in building data pipelines. Also, it facilitates easy transformation with all required functionalities for analytics. Furthermore, it connects to different sources out-of-the-box, making integration much easier. The monitoring is very thorough, though a more readable version would be appreciable.

Data modeling is a valuable feature but there are some issues with scalability
We are an airline and use the system for data modeling and data warehousing, and we implement it for time performance and feedback analysis. I'm the business intelligence senior developer and we are customers of SAP.  The data modeling is very valuable for us. There are performance issues in…

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The valuable feature of Azure Data Factory is its integration capability, as it goes well with other components of Microsoft Azure."
"We haven't had any issues connecting it to other products."
"The data copy template is a valuable feature."
"I find that the solution integrates well with cloud technologies, which we are using for different clouds like Snowflake and AWS"
"It is easy to deploy workflows and schedule jobs."
"We have found the bulk load feature very valuable."
"What I like best about Azure Data Factory is that it allows you to create pipelines, specifically ETL pipelines. I also like that Azure Data Factory has connectors and solves most of my company's problems."
"Data Factory's best features are simplicity and flexibility."
"A robust and efficient product."
"Data modeling is a valuable feature."
"Transformation is a valuable feature of SAP NetWeaver. I can transform the data as per my needs or my client's needs. For example, flat tables can be transformed with respect to our requirements to combine multiple modules into one single table, and we can derive analytics."
"It's an excellent over-all tool for managers to analyze their business."
"It is a robust system."
"It provides us with proof of data, we can centralize all of the information, check it, and then provide the information to our users."
"The security and audit procedures are the most valuable features."

Cons

"DataStage is easier to learn than Data Factory because it's more visual. Data Factory has some drag-and-drop options, but it's not as intuitive as DataStage. It would be better if they added more drag-and-drop features. You can start using DataStage without knowing the code. You don't need to learn how the code works before using the solution."
"Lacks in-built streaming data processing."
"Areas for improvement in Azure Data Factory include connectivity and integration. When you use integration runtime, whenever there's a failure, the backup process in Azure Data Factory takes time, so this is another area for improvement."
"My only problem is the seamless connectivity with various other databases, for example, SAP."
"We require Azure Data Factory to be able to connect to Google Analytics."
"Customer service is not satisfactory. Third-party personnel handle support and rely on a knowledge repository."
"The speed and performance need to be improved."
"It's a good idea to take a Microsoft course. Because they are really helpful when you start from your journey with Data Factory."
"Design and modeling could be simplified."
"It is difficult when your native language is not English. It is difficult for us to explain our issue and also difficult for the technical team to explain a resolution to us."
"The program is difficult to learn to use"
"I think more integration with other applications would be perfect."
"There are performance issues in terms of scalability and availability."
"Connectors are complex, and it is difficult to understand or know which connector should be used. For instance, if I want to connect APIs, I will not be able to do it directly. I would have to go to the portal integration to get the data. Therefore, having simplified connectors will make things much easier."
"The product could provide more features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing model for Azure Data Factory is good because you won't have to overpay. Pricing-wise, the solution is a five out of ten. It was not expensive, and it was not cheap."
"In terms of licensing costs, we pay somewhere around S14,000 USD per month. There are some additional costs. For example, we would have to subscribe to some additional computing and for elasticity, but they are minimal."
"The price is fair."
"My company is on a monthly subscription for Azure Data Factory, but it's more of a pay-as-you-go model where your monthly invoice depends on how many resources you use. On a scale of one to five, pricing for Azure Data Factory is a four. It's just the usage fees my company pays monthly."
"The pricing is pay-as-you-go or reserve instance. Of the two options, reserve instance is much cheaper."
"For our use case, it is not expensive. We take into the picture everything: resources, learning curve, and maintenance."
"Product is priced at the market standard."
"There's no licensing for Azure Data Factory, they have a consumption payment model. How often you are running the service and how long that service takes to run. The price can be approximately $500 to $1,000 per month but depends on the scaling."
"The licensing cost is high for SAP NetWeaver compared to that for other products."
"Pricing is based on the number of user IDs and tyhe user ID works across a suite of products."
"All SAP products are expensive."
