It has helped us improve our latency performance drastically
As a large scale high performance trading platform serving the high frequency trading community, latency has always been critical for our clients. Before using Azul Zing JVM, we would have had to spend a lot of effort tuning our JVM GC and profiling our application to minimize latency, which is…

I have experience with AWS, and I am most familiar with the server environment, as we just use the server environment and then use Microsoft products on an AWS environment. I have experience with Windows Server IIS, which I ran on my own on-premise data center. The website was developed and then hosted, and through IIS, we managed the servers. The manageability within the IIS environment is not very difficult. For server management, you need to ensure data backup, data restore, and you have a DR configured to keep the database intact. It was done on-premises, so I had no problem doing that. If you have to go to the cloud, then you should have the storage connected to the IIS server and also have a DR set up for that. I didn't use Microsoft Azure tools, but since it is a Microsoft product, Azure has all the portability, so you don't have to worry about compatibility on the cloud. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate this solution a 10.

Pros

"With Zing, we've now been able to re-allocate those tuning resources to general product development."
"Zing has completely solved the garbage collection problem for us."
"Performance of the JVM, especially the C4 Pauseless Garbage Collection, for continuous application execution is the most valuable feature."
"With minimal effort, Zing has helped us improve our latency performance dramatically."
"GC Pause times are maintained in low milliseconds, which is beneficial for applications with high volume, high memory allocation rate, and a high memory footprint, and it also increases throughput by approximately 20-25% as compared to Oracle Java Development Kit based on some tests that I have done with real applications."
"With minimal effort, Zing has helped us improve our latency performance dramatically."
"The non-stop garbage collector (C4 - Continuously Concurrent Compacting Collector) is the most valuable feature."
"With minimal effort, Zing has helped us improve our latency performance drastically."
"IIS is stable."
"The best features of IIS are that you can design your own website and manage it yourself, creating as many websites as you want."
"The solution is easy to use, easy to maintain and isn't too technical."
"When you are working with Microsoft solutions, you will see that the integration with the operating system, and implementing some security features, are easier in IIS than when using another solution."
"The solution is the easiest way to publish applications which have been designed by older development tools."
"The tool is very easy to use and efficient."
"IIS is useful for the deployment of web applications...Its stability is good."
"IIS's best features are its management console and stability."

Cons

"Although Azul claims to have a fast warmup, we still experience higher latency for the first trade when our system starts up on Sundays."
"The licensing over non-production environments considerably affects the cost of our solution as a software vendor."
"However, like every other great product, there is always something that can be improved."
"The profiling tools included with Zing lag behind those available for Oracle's Java implementation."
"It is extremely expensive."
"Although Azul claims to have a fast warmup, we still experience higher latency for the first trade when our system starts up on Sundays."
"We have encounter stability issues and that has been a source of frustration at times."

"The tool needs to improve its performance."
"The first level of support is not very good because by the time we speak with them, we are already past that point."
"We've never had any issues with the solution, but it's still nice to have overall improvements on it. It could be easier and faster to use, for example."
"There is an issue with the network. The tool's price is also high."
"The documentation is not very detailed. They need to improve it and add to it. They should ensure there are lots of visuals to help users better understand the solution."
"At the moment, we have big problems with stability, and I'm not very happy at the moment. So, the stability could be improved."
"The areas of this solution that need improvement are monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting."
