Video meetings and presentation sharing impress but user-friendliness and pricing need attention
I don't have experience with how Avaya Spaces handles integration with other software tools, but perhaps my partners have experience regarding integration with different vendors. If Avaya can integrate Spaces with other media solutions, such as WhatsApp or WeChat, it will be more friendly and useful for customers or partners.

I work with Microsoft Exchange. We use Microsoft Azure, though I am not involved with the back-end operations. I work with Microsoft Exchange and ServiceNow for the service desk. I do not work with Cloud Observability or Automation Engine. We use Microsoft Copilot with Teams. We do not use Microsoft Security Copilot as it is not cloud-based. We have moved from Skype for Business to Teams recently, though some of us still use Skype for Business because it is convenient. Skype for Business is particularly useful for remoting onto people's devices. I prefer Skype for Business over Teams for screen sharing. Sometimes there are compatibility issues when running Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business together. Phone calls in Teams might ring and then go silent, or the microphone might not detect calls from either application. I rate Skype for Business a 9 out of 10 because it works effectively with minimal issues.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the solution for document sharing, video conferencing, instant messaging, and file sharing."
"The microphone's noise cancellation and static feature that record a human's voice are some of the most valuable features."
"Stability for Avaya Spaces is quite good, and I would rate it a 9."
"The simplicity and ease of use are the most valuable features, as it's so much easier and quicker than writing an email to someone and waiting for them to read it."
"We like the easy provisioning of Skype for Business Conferencing."
"I like the seamless integration to local telecommunications."
"File sharing and email invitations for a conference. I can have a meeting with people at the opposite end of the Earth, sharing documentation; it is quite easy."
"I use the chat feature to communicate with my staff, which is very helpful."
"It saves trouble, and it saves us time."
"I have found Skype for Business to be stable."
"Since introducing Microsoft Lync, our users can now call other Lync users in other organizations."

Cons

"The audio calling service needs to improve its quality."
"There were some additional features coming up, as they informed us through email. But we didn't get any update on them."
"The initial setup for Avaya Spaces is very good for me, but for sharing with other users, the setup is a little bit complex compared to other solutions I have used, such as Zoom or Teams, as the installation is more complex."
"I would not recommend Skype for Business because Microsoft Teams has more features, a lightweight application that I access on my mobile."
"The solution should improve the chat and add more flexibility to make a call."
"Skype for Business could improve by having a document channel or repository. Microsoft Teams has a better repository place for documents that you can share with your team. You can access it anywhere from any device."
"The technical support from Microsoft needs to be improved."
"There are not many options, in terms of some other third-party integration."
"I should be able to make a desktop phone call when I click a member of my Lync directory."
"Lacks a zoom-in feature for whoever is presenting."
"Our user base has struggled for adoption, as using Skype audio is not a very consistent experience due to the diverse networks that they are on (home office, corporate office, and branch office networks)."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license grants you a subscription and costs about $120. I am not aware of additional costs."
"The solution is priced fairly."
"We purchased an open license."
"The licensing is billed on a yearly basis."
"Previously, I did not use another solution."
"I am using a corporate account for which I have not made any payments."
"The pricing is really good. It is quite affordable because it came with our Office 365. It is on a per-user license, which is nice. I quite like that they have made it very granular with all of their licensing."
"We had a license for every one of our users to use Skype for Business. The license we used was part of an overall Microsoft license package."
"The cost of Skype for Business is incorporated into our Office 365 licenses."
