Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"With low-code, we don't need a lot of coding, and then from the plumbing perspective, there is a complete CI/CD pipeline that exists within Appian that can be leveraged for open deployment.""The setup is easy.""The solution has a lot of strong features for the financial industry, it is very easy to use.""Process Modeling enables creation of business process workflows. You can create complex business workflows in a visual manner, and it is also easy to debug/monitor.""Appian has many valuable features, the first being the ease of development—rapid development. Second, the process of learning the product and tool is faster when compared to its peers in the market. It's closer to low-code, and while it's still not very easy, it's more low-code than other products in the industry. Appian has a good user interface, a seamless model user interface, which comes without additional coding. It can also integrate with multiple systems.""The Application Designer is very user friendly. There are also lot of plug-ins that you can use and, for the most part, they are free.""Process culture is making noise inside the organization because now, everybody knows that their time is being monitored.""The product has a very good mobile app."

"This solution is scalable.""The product has a very good triggering mechanism.""The best thing about TrueSight is the user interface, which is intuitive and easy to use. It supports accessibility and exporting, so we can output to the format we require. We can use TrueSight to integrate nearly any other product. I can't think of another product that can match this functionality. We also have Microsoft Orchestrator, but it can't match BMC TrueSight Orchestration.""We can implement compliance standards with the solution. You can also do patching so that the environment is compliant and secure from external threats and hacking. We can provision multiple systems with the help of predefined templates that the organization has forwarded us. The solution’s users can also integrate multiple products which can be either BMC or non-BMC. There are numerous possibilities that can be done with server automation""The initial setup is easy. The deployment was done in an hour.""I find the provisioning to be the most valuable.""We particularly like the integration functionality of this solution. This product is open API, which means that it can be integrated with any solution from any other brand.""The best feature of BMC TrueSight Orchestration is the number of integrated mechanisms it provides."

Cons
"I wouldn't say their response time is long, but it could be quicker.""Occasionally, certain pre-made modules may not be necessary and customers may desire greater customization options. Instead of being limited to pre-designed features, they may prefer a more flexible version that allows for greater customization.""They should provide more flexibility so designers can create a more picture perfect device.""I would like to see more complete university tools. For example, with UiPath, I have had a good experience related to a free course in order to provide some users some different levels of knowledge. This extra training helps users not only use the solution but to develop further within the tool.""Something I would like to see improved is an SQL database connection.""It needs better integration with our existing application ecosystem.""The UI of Appian is more internal. Recently, there has been an addition of an external user portal for the customer-facing stuff. It's still coming out.""Offline capabilities and responsive capabilities could be better. The mobility features of Appian platform are still evolving."

More Appian Cons →

"The solution should move to the cloud. Every application from the BMC is on the container and moving to the cloud. There is also a number of limitations for the smart reporting feature of the TrueSight server which is not working in sync. We did not get any satisfactory reply from BMC on that note. We are not able to do the real-time sync between HSA and non-HSA service reporting tools and the actual application tools.""The architecture of this solution needs improvement, it is very complicated. It creates a lot of problems in our environment. Most of the time I am trying to find and solve the problem.""At present this solution is only available to be hosted on-premises, which can cause network issues when integration with cloud-based software is attempted.""We are aiming for AI automation and look for support from BMC. The features are currently missing but we are hoping for some upgrade in this matter.""BMC TrueSight Orchestration could improve by providing some visibility on how the workflows are progressing.""Regarding scalability, the architecture does not allow you to add additional servers just able to use two application servers, so it's not scalable.""BMC TrueSight Orchestration is difficult to understand. It's not very user-friendly.""It would be helpful if TrueSight could log errors in a better format. I would also like to see more connector support. Let's say I have a third-party vendor that I need to integrate with Ansible. It would be helpful if BMC announced a specific connector for that. I've encountered situations where I need to work with scripts or find another way to integrate a particular product with TrueSight Orchestration. BMC already supports many products. For example, we have a connector for Ansible, but I think it needs to be improved some."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "BPM done right is a huge value proposition for almost any company, and with Appian's low code rapid development model, the ROI can be huge, while the break-even point should be accelerated tremendously."
  • "It is expensive, but powerful. I would recommend comparing against cheaper licensing products and open source."
  • "Product pricing compared to some of the earlier vendors, like IBM, CA, and Oracle, is quite well-priced. Although, we do feel that as we increase the number of users and the workload increases, we will have to spend more."
  • "We will have to have a dialogue or negotiate a price for future use. To start with, it is a reasonable price. As we go ahead, we will have to make sure the costs are inline with our expectations as we grow our user base and workloads."
  • "It's good value for the price."
  • "I think that if somebody is really serious at looking at business value, then by all means, the product is well worth the value. You get representative business value for the price that you pay for the product, and for the implementation of the product."
  • "The cost depends on the number of users, although I recommend taking an unlimited license."
  • "The solution offers a monthly subscription model. That's what we use. I recall it being about $90 a month. They do have different tiers."

  • "Licensing is per lot, or per agent — one agent is one license."
  • "There is a huge cost saving with BMC TrueSight compared to other solutions."
  • "Regarding pricing, it comes with the package when you buy the server automation. But it's made depending on some agreements for companies, of which I don't know the clause."
  • "Licensing is available in different ways and depends on data being consumed by users and nodes being operated."
