Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like Alteryx's browser tool because you can view how your data is handled live. There are many other valuable tools like transpose and the crosstab. You can quickly pivot your data, and there are connections throughout the database. It's so easy to create a connection. If you connect to sign apps or a more complex database, the tool contains all the tools you need.""The product offers very good analytics.""The product is very stable. The performance is reliable.""The functionality of drag and drop is the most valuable. It is a very user-friendly tool that can be understood easily. My teams also work with other solutions, such as Integration Services, and these solutions are very difficult for people who don't have technical knowledge.""The most valuable features are the integrated properties and integrated connectivity."

"The technical support is excellent.""The greatest feature is that it is very easy to have someone come in and jump right in. It is one of the nicest tools in terms of getting a person acquainted quickly.""It's a very powerful tool you can use to load data, get data, do the drawing between the tables, and put into the packet in a very fast way.""The most valuable features are the metadata repository and the data warehouse application console.""Informatica PowerCenter is very good for integrating a huge amount of data in a very short duration, such as a minute. It is also very easy to use. After you provide the source and the target, mappings are automatically done, which makes it easy to use for the development team.""What I like the most is that we have to deal with less while writing the queries.""The number of docs has been reduced drastically, which is very good.""We have found the PowerCenter and B2B data transformation most valuable."

Cons
"The actual usage part of it needs to be explained more. It's too vague right now.""Alteryx needs to improve its web governance. The gallery you use to filter the data is something else that could use some work. For instance, if you have a report connected to a database and want to filter a specific user, you should be able to suggest a specific region or a particular year. I know that the Alteryx isn't designed for data governance, but that would be great to think about.""If the price were reduced then it would be more competitive.""Its price can be improved. It is too expensive for our country. Because of its high price, we can't sell Alteryx Designer in this region. We used to be their reseller partner. There is also an additional cost for automating the data and running the flows, which makes it even more expensive. It will be very good if they can let users automate the data for free. Other solutions like Tableau provide this feature for free.""The product could offer more connectors and more databases with support for the in-database function."

More Alteryx Designer Cons →

"There is a need to buy a separate license if one wishes to connect with some kind of SAP system, such as SalesForce.""PowerCenter could be improved by having more big data components. Normally, we prefer Informatica as a relational database, but nowadays, companies are trying to understand and use big data components. I think it would be useful if we had more chances to create a hub ecosystem because customers try to use some data integration tasks by SQL, Spark and Spark codes, and Scala, but at the end of the day, the company will understand that we need to trace all the steps. An ETL tool is a must for that company, if we're talking about the regulated industries like finance, telcos, etc. If Informatica's biggest ecosystems feature were okay, I would prefer to use it.""It would be nice to have all tools in one place. CDC needs more effort, as it's only easy to develop if you are familiar with Linux.""There is some room for improvement in terms of pricing.""Its scalability can be improved. It is not scalable.""An issue which should be addressed is that the solution only allows us to do structured, as opposed to unstructured, data processing.""What I didn't like about it is that the platform itself is not great at distributed processing. When you need high parallel processing, it has some inherent issues. We had to use Java transformation, and it did not go very well. I have heard that it is going to the cloud, but we haven't tried that.""The solution can improve by providing more connectivity by having native ODBC or JDBC connections available. It will be easier and more people could start using it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
  • "Alteryx is a little bit expensive compared to competing solutions."

  • "Its maintenance is expensive."
  • "It's much more expensive, almost three times more expensive than most other solutions."
  • "We are satisfied with the pricing."
  • "I consider this to be an expensive product."
  • "It is for big enterprises. We have leveraged Informatica for big enterprises but not for small and medium enterprises because it is a very costly product as compared to other products. We propose this solution only for enterprise customers. For small to medium enterprises, we would propose the Microsoft solution. Its licensing is currently bundle-wise. It should be features-wise and not bundle-wise."
  • "The price of this solution is high."
  • "Our client has purchased the license, and we are using it."
  • "The solution is in the middle price range compared to other solutions."
