We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I would like to say that its best feature is its different kinds of connectors. We have lots of in-built connectors.""We save enormous amounts of time in development using this tool.""Apart from providing a mature, reliable, consistent platform, Adobe also offers outstanding customer service and product support.""I find it to be the easiest server-side technology for website development. It easily integrates with virtually everything– from web APIs to NoSQL databases to RSS and XML services.""The ability to write SQL queries was very helpful as we did not need to bother our DBAs in writing stored procedures for simple tasks.""This tool was very easy learn, yet powerful enough to manage many sites on a single instance.""My client has been able to improve productivity with the use of the tool. The solution has them develop several tools that addressed their specific needs. They have become more efficient and safe with the use of the product.""No need to import libraries from outside the environment."

"The fact that it's no-code is one of the most important features because it allows us to deliver very quickly. We can get the value to the business delivered much more quickly than with other solutions.""Their integrations are terrific. We've had zero issues, a 100 percent success rate with integrations. In terms of Zudy's data source connectors and API integrations, we've been really pleased. We use some software that is very common in the media business, and then we also have some custom things that we built for a variety of different use cases within our company, and we've had zero integration issues, in terms of getting data into Zudy and getting data out of it. It's been great.""The integration is a huge accelerator into enabling new business processes. As a small company, we have a few different systems that otherwise couldn't talk to each other. We recognize, from an IT perspective, the value that data and change in status of certain data in one area could influence the ability to take action in another. With these integration points, we are able to essentially create that communication from one system to another, letting system B know that something has been completed or is ready in system A. That allows our users to know that they are ready to complete a task. Without that, we would be relying on a lot of manual communication. We would be relying on individuals sending emails, saying, "Hey, by the way, this is ready in system A." Now, we have the system recognizing it and shooting that email off automatically, with all the instructions necessary.""There are a lot of low-code development tools out there, but VINYL has the ability to connect to just about any data source out there, if an API exists for it and can be leveraged. We have even partnered with them at times to work with third-party vendors to develop APIs on our own, if there wasn't an API that exists for it.""The ease of moving around the platform cannot be understated.""There are two most valuable features: one is the ability to pull data from a bunch of different places and put them together. And the second is the speed at which you can get a new app developed. So instead of waiting months for this new app to come out, if you have an internal team putting it together, you can roll it out in weeks. I've even seen days. It's incredible how fast you can make changes.""It's extremely easy to use in getting into the IDE and then back down to your applications, and getting from your applications to your pages, and navigating through all your tables. That's very simple and pretty intuitive.""With the Lite Integration, I didn't to have to disrupt my entire organization to do something. We haven't had to disrupt IT and the business organizations to keep them up and running."

Cons
"ColdFusion’s third-party authentication is currently limited to just a couple of companies, like Google and Facebook, and a few third-party SAML authenticators. From my personal perspective, adding LinkedIn and Microsoft would greatly benefit me.""There is not much third party authenticators in this solution""Previously when I was trying to create some data, it was very difficult to get real-time data from Workfront.""The solution needs to improve its adaption capability with a third-party company. I want to see more communities or open knowledge resources with the tool.""Installation of the server software was formidable due the number of configurable options.""Need to be able to Be able to inject Python, Java, Groovy, or PHP code into a CFML page."

More Adobe ColdFusion Cons →

"Upload time of documents that needed to be uploaded was a request that we were having an issue with. That issue got resolved in [near] real time, within probably 30 minutes.""I sometimes find formatting tricky to get the front end of an app the way I want it.""Right now it's very dependent on having an imagination to understand.""Some aspects of VINYL are limiting from a B2C standpoint. For example, it would be nice to have more flexibility with what the VINYL parameters allow us to develop within the app. It is difficult to think of an example off the top of my head, but there have been times when we couldn't develop something a particular way because VINYL didn't support it. However, the team Zudy assigned to us has been great about adjusting and finding ways around these hurdles.""The features that I'd like to see in VINYL next would be the ability to have more control over, or have a rule-based control over column headings and column labels.""It might help if they put out different types that would provide different ways to view the data. I'd like to see more on that.""I would like them to build out more tools for communication, particularly the ability to do a multinode panel via email.""I would love to have the home screen a little more customizable because, as we're building more and more reports, it would be nice to have more options in how they're organized on the screen."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is a very effective solution and worth the price."
  • "If you really want to save money, there is a free open source CFML engine (former Railo, now Lucee) out there."
  • "The tool's pricing is high but it's totally worth the investment."
  • More Adobe ColdFusion Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is affordable."
  • "You always look for the underlying cost, there's always underlying costs but the value is fine. I don't think it should cost any more. You pay for the software but you're also paying for their employees, when they work onsite for you."
  • "Pricing is less than the cost of a consultant and the value you receive is much greater."
  • "Pricing was actually one of the things that drew us to the product initially... the way it was licensed at the time, I got a flat monthly fee from Zudy for the Vinyl product, which allowed me to basically have unlimited use of it... We have an annual license, we pay monthly. It's very competitive and very worthwhile given the return we get out of it."
  • "The key thing here is that the pricing is just one price. We can do as much or as little with the product as we want to which is very attractive. I don't have to worry about if I build a new app, I have to pay more. Or, if I put 20 more people logging into the app, I don't have to pay any extra for that either."
  • "I feel the product’s pricing is a good value. The licensing model is very straightforward. You license the platform and you can build however many solutions you want with it."
  • "We have seen a 30 percent decrease in time for some of our workflows."
  • "Pricing and licensing are expensive."
