Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Granular recovery, replication is good and offers good speed
It is for any kind of company that uses their own servers. From a global perspective, our clients are small-sized companies. All the SMEs, compared to the Slovakian market, are quite small. It's a small market with small companies. They just want to enhance security and follow regulations It's…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best thing about it is that we can back up pretty much everything we want to; we don't have to have multiple solutions, as it can back up any physical or virtual server, including servers in Azure, as well as SharePoint, OneDrive, and G Suite, so everything we need to back up can be backed up, and that's why we like it."
"Buy it."
"For me, the tool proved most valuable in scenarios where it offered easy setup, fast backups, and recognition of SQL logs on virtual machines."
"The AI-based antimalware feature in Acronis Cyber Protect is very effective in preventing cyber threats, providing inception into threats and how to react with them before securing, and is a great asset as a feature."
"The most valuable features of Acronis Backup are cloning and many other capabilities. For example, you are able to clone the whole operating system and drive. Additionally, the solution is a complete package."
"True Image has a slew of enterprise and end-user features and the interface is both easy to use and simple to understand."
"Acronis Backup and Recovery with universal restore allowed me to get back online again."
"Consistency and reliability. The interface is easy to understand and consistent across applications. While not 100%, it is a very reliable backup solution."
"It is more fully integrated with the hypervisor, particularly with VMware solution, and it is simple to create replica sets to our VR site."
"Disk backup (archiving to the cloud) is its most valuable feature because it provides for our disaster recovery plan."
"Our company survived a ransomware attack and the repository was not encrypted by the Conti ransomware strain, and it enables us to recover complete systems, applications, and data with little or no disruption to the work environment."
"The solution offers a 100% guarantee that if it's backed up you will be able to restore it onto any platform you want."
"It is pretty simple to set up and use, the ease of use has reduced the administration time involved in our backup and recovery operations, and I can sleep easily at night knowing that I've got one of the best solutions in place for the school."
"Customer Service: So far, I've found both the online forums and Dell Community pages and the Dell knowledge base pretty extensive, and all our direct support with Dell techs has been quick and so far very helpful."
"Quick and easy backups for all of my servers."
"The general backup for replication and virtual standby are the most valuable aspects; it does what it says it does and is a decent tool for not a big budget."

Cons

"When you are using enterprise hardware and software that increases over time, there need to be better and more management features. For pure backup software, it is fine, but when it comes to managing a large infrastructure it is lacking."
"The solution's error handling can be improved specifically for Linux errors."
"Their support process can be quite lengthy...This is an area that needs improvement."
"Sometimes I’ve found the agent won’t install, and it doesn’t give you a reason why."
"It supports Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Exchange, but it does not support Oracle databases or Postgres."
"Some of the default settings out-of-the-box should already be set up for the novice user. For instance, the warnings that say a hard drive has bad sectors and stops the backup from performing."
"Currently, there is no option to use the tape drives again as a backup repository for the cloud deployment."
"In the span of six months, maintenance is done at least twice and you are told that it is coming up, with apologies for the inconvenience. It's a distraction, and it interferes with the backup schedule."
"One area where Quest Rapid Recovery has room for improvement is in the handling of snapshots on Hyper-V."
"I think the self-paced learning and knowledge base can always be improved so that users can self-service without having to contact either a reseller or Quest. I know there are things that I would have been looking for to try and solve. And the only way I could get there was to actually open a ticket rather than go through self-service through the portal."
"The on-premises deployment model shouldn't have a maintenance fee. If there's going to be technical support, they need it to be free or it should be paid on upon adopting the solution."
"The terminology didn't seem easily available. When I go to the website, it is hard to search for things. You get all the articles, then you finally get the search button. They need the search at the top of the knowledge base. Then, on occasion, if you get an error message in the system, which is very important, it says, "Click here for more information," but I never get more information. The search engine doesn't find it or it is some weird error. It has never worked for me."
"You can only take a snapshot from a virtual environment. It should have the ability to take snapshots from both a virtual and physical environment."
"It would be nice if you could deploy the agent without having to reboot."
"Most people may just find that it is undesirable to pay per call."
"There is room for improvement in customer service and support. I would like to see faster response time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro."
"I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
"You don't have to pay for licenses. You can pay per gig per month. It is pretty reasonable, especially when you do it per gig."
"The current subscription model of Acronis Backup compared to other backup solutions is not costly."
"We have a Cyber Cloud backup license and we have on-premises storage. Both can be useful for our customers."
"When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
"The cost of updates is less than $100 USD yearly."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"I believe the basic license comes with six terabytes, whereas a lot of the other ones are four terabytes. From the price point, it seemed a lot better than the comparative models, such as Datto, Barracuda, and some of the others. I believe Barracuda was about $15,000 for four terabytes, and Quest was around $12,000 for six terabytes. Pricing is based on the period. There is just the maintenance fee that you have to pay annually, or you can pay for a three-year or four-year contract. This includes Premier Support."
"I don't think the licensing for the product is very expensive."
"Licensing fees are based on the amount of data that you want to store, which is related to how many customers you want to cover."
"When I purchased the change to the license, it was $1,600. I think that was for changing the license. I don't believe that I had to purchase technical support in a while, so I must've bought maybe for five years, but I don't feel there was a huge cost involved in technical support. Its cost was definitely worth it because we've had a fantastic experience with them."
"The pricing is on the higher end."
"It's very expensive which is why I want to drop it. They charge us per core and we have a six-core server. It's expensive to pay for maintenance charges. I want to switch to something cheaper."
"It is a little expensive. However, I haven't compared it to other solutions. Being a nonprofit, it is always good to have nonprofit discounts on products."
"Its price is okay. It is reasonable in terms of the way it works."
