Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Manages virtual machine backups smoothly and simplifies restoration across environments
It is quite easy to manage AWS Backup's centralized console for multiple environments. The product's interface is intuitive. AWS Backup has a much higher price if you compare it with the snapshots. I have to pay for the whole environment by AWS. We have a backup solution with only virtual machines. The rest of it, we have a restore point.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The interface is easy to use. They keep on adding new features. Acronis recently added multi-platform support."
"Acronis has many features, which are really very interesting, when it comes to data backup and recovery, especially disaster recovery (DR)."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that you can archive backups quite easily and minimize the amount of space you're using."
"We have saved massive drive space and shortened data transfer time to offsite due to the 8:1 ratio of the de-duplication and changed block tracking."
"End user can manage backup and recovery on its own efficiently once a product PC has failed during production."
"The most valuable feature is that you can do a bare-metal restore even with dissimilar hardware."
"We tried Acronis and it was easy to use and it worked."
"True Image has a slew of enterprise and end-user features and the interface is both easy to use and simple to understand."
"The auto-scaling feature and the time efficiency of setting up AWS Backup are the most valuable aspects for us."
"The solution's most valuable features are its backup capability and tight integration with other AWS services."
"The advantage that AWS Backup has over competitors is that it's very simple."
"We primarily use the solution as a backup for snapshots so that the data will not get corrupt or lost, and it secures our data for us."
"The snapshots we take through AWS Backup are very effective."
"AWS is the primary platform that we use for our internal needs and we are trying to best use whatever comes with it."
"RDS backup is one of the most crucial components of any client's cloud environment, so we generally use that. Additionally, we store EBS snapshots in S3."
"The replication in the recovery region is the most valuable feature."

Cons

"We needed to have help from the vendor for implementation. The vendor used two personnel. We have system administrators and they do the server backups themself."
"For smaller companies, it's a little more challenging to maintain."
"I would change the GUI a little to make it a bit more interactive. It should have a slightly more updated look, not something which looks like it was designed five years ago despite the fact it is easy to follow and very appealing."
"The solution needs to have better stability. I would like to improve the tool’s support through calls."
"Some of the default settings out-of-the-box should already be set up for the novice user."
"Network based data backup and recovery is supported, however network recovery quite often crashes the application."
"As far as the functionality goes, I haven't had a single issue with it. Rather, I've had some issues with the understandability of the interface."
"Error log interpretation will come back with some great big number, then it will want to go to the internet, but it is a silent site. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to really tell what is going on."
"The time it takes to complete the backups could be reduced."
"AWS Backup could improve because you cannot use Glacier or anything but EFS."
"They should work on their visual capabilities."
"The solution's reporting features and restore features can be improved."
"The AWS Backup backend reporting is a major area that needs improvement. We would be very excited if we can see some reporting, such as trends. We do understand that there are reports available for S3 Bucket, in which the AWS backend stores the data. However, if we can receive holistic reporting, then it would be very helpful for us."
"AWS Backup could benefit from including more services."
"The support people face some challenges in coming on for remote sessions. They always prefer giving some logs."
"One of the limitations of AWS Backup is that it only does file-based copying."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our licenses come with a one-time yearly subscription fee."
"The current subscription model of Acronis Backup compared to other backup solutions is not costly."
"I think that the prices of the product go up every year. If one is extremely expensive and ten is absolutely cheap, I rate the product price as six."
"I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
"We have a Cyber Cloud backup license and we have on-premises storage. Both can be useful for our customers."
"I would describe the product as a mid-priced tool for small and medium businesses."
"I like the pricing, and that it is easy to use and has performed well. "
"Acronis Cyber Protect's pricing is reasonable."
"The clients pay for the whole AWS bundle. It is an affordable solution."
"AWS Backup is free of cost, but we need to pay for the backup storage being used."
"Our customers pay a monthly AWS fee that includes the AWS Backup service."
"AWS is more expensive than some competitors like Azure."
"There are no licensing costs for AWS Backup. You pay only for the amount of backup storage you use and then the data transferred between regions. Overall AWS Backup is priced reasonably."
"It's a myth that Cloud is cheap. Cloud is cheap initially, but the cost over time can be equal to your own infrastructure if you consume a lot."
"Price-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. One only has to pay for the storage cost of AWS solutions, which is the standard cost provided by AWS."
"We don't use a lot of space, only approximately 900 GB, so the price is reasonable. For standing, it's okay. We normally do a payment to SSML, and they are the ones who pay over there. It is around $100 monthly."
