It's the fastest solution
Pros and Cons
  • "Cloudflare DNS is widely used, and it's good for websites. If we use Cloudflare DNS and update one record, it updates in their office instantly."
  • "Cloudflare's free plan is limited to 5,000 records for their free plan. They should increase that. For example, if I create a domain called abc.com and a subdomain called a.abc.com, my record count will be two. I can make a maximum of 5,000 subdomains. However, if we use our own DNS hosted on another provider, there is no limit. Their free plan also lacks name server customization."

What is our primary use case?

Cloudflare is mostly a CDN service plus DDoS protection, but they are now offering services like cloud object storage, which AWS under S3. Cloudflare provides a cheaper alternative. They also have zero trust and load-balancing services.

What is most valuable?

The API enables you to build a separate environment inside the solution
Pros and Cons
  • "I get a lot of value from Cloudflare's API because it enables you to build a separate environment inside the solution. You can create a domain for performing test requests before you move to the production environment and connect various domains."
  • "Cloudflare doesn't have a reverse lookup. We can only do a DNS lookup to get the IP address from the hostname. It doesn't work if you want to look up the hostname from an IPA address."

What is our primary use case?

We use Cloudflare for our DNS service.

How has it helped my organization?

We previously faced so many issues with our in-house DNS servers. Cloudflare provides a backup, so if you have any issues with your environment or something goes wrong with a software hostname and IP address, you can run the backup and experience zero downtime.

What is most valuable?

I get a lot of value from Cloudflare's API because it enables you to build a separate environment inside the solution. You can create a domain for performing test requests before you move to the production environment and connect various domains.

When you build a new server, you first need to register your hostname and IP address in the cloud first. You don't need to go through the same steps every time. If you have a script that supports the API, you can run it to update the zone code and IP address.

What needs improvement?

Cloudflare doesn't have a reverse lookup. We can only do a DNS lookup to get the IP address from the hostname. It doesn't work if you want to look up the hostname from an IPA address.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Cloudflare DNS for three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Cloudflare DNS seven out of 10 for stability. We haven't had issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate Cloudflare DNS seven out of 10 for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

Cloudflare support responds as quickly as possible. If you have any issues, you can get a support engineer with the best qualifications.

How was the initial setup?

The Cloudflare setup is straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Cloudflare DNS seven out of 10. Cloudflare is my first choice if I have a chance to use it. The GUI looks pretty. It's easy to create area codes and DNS entries. You need to ensure that these features are required in your environment and negotiate a good price.

Helps to create DNS records and connect Cloudflare to the original server
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of the solution is external DNS. It is also very secure. They have their own main server and once you configure it, the product takes care of everything. There are no issues in resolving IPs and low latency is also present."
  • "The tool needs to improve caching of servers. The product needs to include PFX certificate as well."

What is our primary use case?

The product helps to create DNS records and connect Cloudflare to the original server. You can also do load balancing configuration. I work with SaaS solutions.

In a single product and with minimal costs, you can get multiple features.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution is external DNS. It is also very secure. They have their own main server and once you configure it, the product takes care of everything. There are no issues in resolving IPs and low latency is also present.

The tool is stable.

The product is scalable and my company has around 5000 users for the tool.

How are customer service and support?

The product's support needs to be improved since they do not provide proper answers in the required time.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

To deploy the solution, you need to enable the Cloudflare dashboard and create a container. After creating the container, you can create Cloudflare DNS records. You need to have Cloudflare CDN to reach your internal servers. The product's deployment will be lengthier for less experienced resources. It takes about 24 hours to complete the deployment process.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product's pricing is minimal compared to other products.

What other advice do I have?

The product requires maintenance from time to time. I would rate the product a seven out of ten.

Offer good protection, user-friendly, reliable, and easy to manage
Pros and Cons
  • "Its most significant benefit to date is the speed with which it refreshes DNS records on the internet once you change it. If you are changing a website or registering a new record, it is very quick."
  • "I believe they currently have this feature, but there will most likely be integration with APIs so we can control some features through API."

How has it helped my organization?

Previously, when we published new websites or new services on our domain, we had to wait for the changes to be reflected on the internet before they took effect.

We have the same features with Cloudflare, but they are duplicated across the internet in minutes due to how quickly Cloudflare's technology works.

What is most valuable?

I find it simple to register your domains or create a new domain on Cloudflare.

Its most significant benefit to date is the speed with which it refreshes DNS records on the internet once you change it. If you are changing a website or registering a new record, it is very quick.

Another advantage of Cloudflare's DNS hosting is the protection it provides. If you have the domain and DNS records on Cloudflare, you may also hide it behind its proxy so that it does not display its real IP address on the internet.

What needs improvement?

At the moment, they are all mostly positive. There will most likely be enhancements in the future.

I believe they currently have this feature, but there will most likely be integration with APIs so we can control some features through API.

I have all of the features I need here. The one feature that is paid is the custom nameservers instead of using the default ones, I want to use a custom one. Otherwise, I'm already pleased with most of the features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Cloudflare DNS for three years.

Cloudflare provides a cloud service for hosting DNS servers or DNS records.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Cloudflare DNS is definitely stable.

They have services all around the world, and they are always up and running.

I never had a DNS issue.

They also provide information on how many individuals visit your website.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am the only one that manages the DNS Service so far.

Clients are often pleased since they no longer have to wait so long to launch new services when they are required.

How are customer service and support?

I have never had to contact technical support or open a ticket because the servers are so reliable.

How was the initial setup?

Very user-friendly. It is relatively simple to set up and operate due to its user interface.

It took less than a day to deploy, perhaps a few hours. It didn't even take an hour.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

That is one of the great features. I was able to access the majority of the features and services for free.

They provide more advanced services for a fee. I haven't even spent a single cent on it.

To use the service, any user must first register with Cloudflare.

What other advice do I have?

We are partners with Cloudflare. Our organization supplies DDoS solutions, but exclusively at Layer 4. Because of our partnership with Cloudflare, we can now provide DDoS protection to our clients on both Layer 4 and Layer 7.

If you don't want to spend too much time hosting your own DNS server or managing the domain, Cloudflare is a great way to rapidly get websites and services online.

The free solution includes protection, and email security, and is very simple to use.

It makes managing websites and publishing them on the internet much easier.

I would rate Cloudflare DNS a ten out of ten.
