The use case is quite versatile, particularly in the context of a university lab setting in Saudi Arabia. We successfully implemented Nutanix Frame VDI to establish labs for training students across various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, different Unix flavors, Docker, and containers. The implementation allows for the creation of diverse lab environments, accommodating different images and services for training purposes. The ability to seamlessly switch between various operating systems and configurations on a single machine has been a notable advantage, contributing to the overall success of the educational initiative.

The singular management interface is crucial, particularly for the operations team as it minimizes complexity and enhances operational efficiency. The simplicity of the management tools is a key highlight, especially when compared to other solutions like Citrix, where there is often complexity due to various components such as controllers, storefronts, and different servers.

It would be highly beneficial if they could offer a version that is entirely on-premises, eliminating the need for cloud connection except for data access.

I have been working with it for two years now.

I would rate its stability capabilities nine out of ten.

I haven't faced any issues with high availability or scalability, and I believe that the concept of hyper-convergence is effectively realized in Nutanix solutions. Scalability, reliability, and feature-rich offerings are consistent across various Nutanix products, including those in the hyper-converged infrastructure space. The adaptable interface is well-suited for different use cases, emphasizing its ability to cater to the unique requirements of various industries and businesses. I would rate it ten out of ten.

The high-quality technical support and the commitment to providing free units contribute to a positive experience and demonstrate its dedication to customer satisfaction.

Nutanix differentiates itself from Citrix and VMware by providing integrated software and hardware from a single source, offering a streamlined and straightforward approach. Nutanix Frame's architecture is notably simple, featuring a consolidated management interface that eliminates the need to navigate through different components. This simplicity contrasts with the more complex structures in alternatives like Citrix, making Nutanix a user-friendly option with simplified operations.

The initial setup was straightforward.

It is a cost-effective option with comparable functionality to competitors. However, there's a noticeable lack of marketing focus on Nutanix Frame. To address this, the Frame team should engage in extensive marketing activities, organizing events, workshops, and Proof of Concepts tailored specifically to Frame.

Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

Nutanix Frame can be used to transition hardware and replace traditional hardware architecture like physical servers, storage, and SAN switches.

Nutanix Frame is easy to install, manage, and upgrade. The most valuable feature of Nutanix Frame is its life cycle upgrade. When you upgrade a traditional architecture consisting of servers, storage, and switches, you need to see the compatibility for each component. When you click the upgrade on a single firmware in Nutanix, you can upgrade everything, including your software, hardware, and firmware.

The solution’s pricing could be improved.

I have been using Nutanix Frame for four years.

Nutanix Frame is a stable solution.

It's very easy to scale up Nutanix Frame. You can get the two boxes based on your requirements. Once you add the new boxes, it will discover automatically, and you can upgrade it from Prisma Central. I have around 40 to 50 customers currently using Nutanix Frame.

The solution’s technical support is very good.

The solution’s initial setup is straightforward.

You need to install Nutanix Foundation on your laptop. From the laptop, you have to connect directly to the boxes. It will be discovered automatically. From there, you have to assign the IP address of your CVM. There's something called control of VM in Nutanix. Once you assign the IP address, it will automatically discover and clear the cluster. It is time-consuming and takes four to five hours.

It takes a minimum of three hours to deploy Nutanix Frame. Only one person is sufficient for the solution’s deployment. It is not difficult to maintain Nutanix Frame.

We have seen a return on investment with Nutanix Frame because it makes life easy. You don't require many resources for management purposes. Traditional architecture requires separate resources for the hardware, storage, and SAN switches. With Nutanix Frame, you require just one resource that will manage everything for you.

Nutanix Frame is a very expensive solution.

Nutanix Frame has significantly improved our desktop deployment cycles. There is a box specifically for desktop and VDI purposes, and its performance is really amazing. The most important thing is that the solution's implementation is very easy. Nutanix Frame is amazing for IOPS, and you cannot compare it with traditional architecture.

Initially, we found some compatibility issues because Nutanix has its own hypervisor, which was incompatible with many backup software. Now, all the software and backup software support Nutanix, and there's no issue in the market.

Nutanix Frame is a highly secured solution because, by default, the box comes with encryption. Whatever hard drives you have is already encrypted. I had cases with some customers where the environment was compromised, but nothing happened to the solution.

The solution's deployment model is based on the requirement and compliance issues. Nutanix Frame can be deployed on-premises or on the cloud based on the customer's requirement. You can also have the solution in the cloud with a single license. You don't need a separate license to deploy it on the cloud.

We have implemented the solution in the government, private, and banking sectors.

Choosing Nutanix Frame depends on your business priority, customer requirement, size of the environment, and current investment. They can go with additional architecture if they have invested enough with the current storage. If they plan to do the tech refresh for the storage in the future, I suggest going with Nutanix Frame. It will make their life easy in terms of management and compliance.

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

The solution can be made faster and it should improve performance wise.

Frame can be used to replace any BDI solution.

The most valuable feature is the ability to use the solution in the browser.

Scalability is part of the core of Nutanix, so the scalability of the solution is quite good.

The solution is easy to implement but we have one difficult part in the integration with the Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services. That is a tricky part.

As the solution is not completely straightforward, you do need some experience to configure and implement it.

The licensing is based on the number of users of the solution.

The user experience is quite good. I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.
