I am using Visual Studio Professional 2022 for test automation. For test automation, I use only Visual Studio and VS Code; I use VS Code for my Playwright and Visual Studio for my Selenium C#.
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
I am an individual developer, so it does not impact my collaboration or coordination within the team.
What is most valuable?
My best part about Visual Studio Professional 2022 is their support and the suggestions they are giving in the IDE.
Capability in Visual Studio Professional 2022 means it is supporting all things like testing for my testing purpose, as well as the development; everything is integrated in Visual Studio Professional 2022.
I am not using the Live Share feature in Visual Studio Professional 2022.
I have not used that feature, so I cannot comment on whether it impacts my coding speed and accuracy.
I use Visual Studio Professional 2022 to integrate my Selenium project into Playwright; it is very useful.
The integration is good; I can integrate my Selenium C# code to Playwright in C# code easily, and it is very comfortable.
I am not using the code refactoring capability in Visual Studio Professional 2022 yet.
I am using ADO to integrate my code, and I am using Visual Studio Professional 2022 with my Azure DevOps platform; it is working fine and GitHub is also working fine for me.
What needs improvement?
Currently, Visual Studio Professional 2022 is not supporting the .TS, TypeScript code, which is a disadvantage, because with Playwright, we can do that in C#, but having Playwright code with TypeScript, I am not able to see any project or any suggestion about the .TS code.
Integrating the TypeScript code in Visual Studio Professional 2022 would be great as a future improvement.
I would appreciate the ability to integrate TypeScript code. Specifically, I would like to use TypeScript with Playwright, as currently, we have a lot of options, but we do not have any options for .TS code in Visual Studio Professional 2022.
It would be great to add TypeScript, the .TS; we should be able to create a project with Playwright and with TypeScript, as it currently supports only C#, not TypeScript.
For how long have I used the solution?
I started using Visual Studio Professional 2022 from 2022 and had been using previous versions for 20 years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate stability for Visual Studio Professional 2022 as nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I would also rate scalability as nine out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support for Visual Studio Professional 2022 is good; I would rate it as nine.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have not been using anything similar to Visual Studio Professional 2022.
How was the initial setup?
I would say that Visual Studio Professional 2022 is very easy to install; I do not use any cloud, but I am using OneDrive.
What was our ROI?
As a personal user, I see value for money; my company is not providing it for me, but I pay by myself, and I think it is pretty good, about 30% value.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am using the free version of Visual Studio Professional 2022. I find the price of Visual Studio Professional 2022 to be affordable.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Mainly the integration part is the major difference between VS Code and Visual Studio Professional 2022; it is easy for me to upload my scripts in the repo using Visual Studio Professional 2022, but I can see some difference in VS Code.
What other advice do I have?
I am working with Visual Studio Professional 2022 as a customer today. I chose to use Visual Studio Professional 2022 because I already have a license for my Windows 11 and Office 365. I did not look into purchasing any solutions from AWS Marketplace. My final rating for Visual Studio Professional 2022 is ten.
