Good and speedy recovery, system requires minimum RTO and RPO; integration could be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "Offers good recovery quickly."
  • "Lacks the ability to protect the database snapshot."

What is our primary use case?

We use Veritas for system recovery, backup and cloud data production. I'm an IT consultant.

What is most valuable?

The best thing about this product is that it's a unified solution and doesn't require the installation of any other solution, whether it's in a virtual environment, or on-prem. Compared to its competitors, Veritas gives a lot, offering good recovery quickly with your system requiring the minimum RTO and RPO.

What needs improvement?

For most organizations these days, their main concern is to protect their database and I think Veritas could make some improvements in that regard. Our database is on the ASM and I think the product could be integrated with that so that we can protect the database snapshot. Currently, Snapshot doesn't work on an ASM-based database and the ability to do that would improve the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

The solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is okay although we sometimes get caught in the crossover between shifts and our case gets handed over to a new support person without any briefing on the status.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Yes, It is a unified solution

What was our ROI?

It will give you a very good ROI in a long run.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This is definitely an enterprise-level product so it's an expensive solution as well as being expensive in relation to similar products on the market.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this product seven out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
