What is our primary use case?
In the oil and gas industry, we are mainly using UiPath Automation Cloud for all RPA processes. We use UiPath Automation Cloud for deploying the process and understanding the process. By understanding the process, we will decide whether we want to go with RPA or not. Once we have confirmed from UiPath Automation Cloud, then we will start developing it and deploying it to UiPath Automation Cloud.
There is usefulness of attended and unattended robots. Previously until 2021, in the same Orchestrator, we could use attended and unattended. With the particular license, we could convert into attended or unattended. However, now UiPath Automation Cloud is providing a separate license for unattended and a separate license for attended.
Currently I am working for one of the oil and gas industries. Previously I worked for one of the big oil and gas industries where I used automation as an RPA process. In the current oil and gas industry, I am using it for test cases. It has been useful for them because some of the test engineers work for the US time zone, and some of the test engineers work in the Indian time zone. Test cases are a continuation, so to complete one particular test case, we need to complete the previous trial test cases. For that reason, it is very useful for running at twenty-four seven.
Previously we had more than sixty processes and more than sixty processes had more than twelve developers supporting them. At some point in time, they fully converted or they wanted to migrate it from UiPath to Power Automate.
What is most valuable?
UiPath Automation Cloud is a kind of Orchestrator. UiPath Automation Cloud is used to monitor our process at any time. Whenever we want to run our process or whenever we want to know the status of our process, we can check it from UiPath Automation Cloud. There is a queue option available there. The queue option helps us to connect two big processes, which helps us for UiPath Automation Cloud. Beyond that, there is document understanding and other APIs that we can use. Many things are there, especially for automation process and API. Swagger APIs are working in UiPath Automation Cloud. We can connect with it at any time, so we can work on it.
For example, at any time, any user, if they have access to the respective UiPath Automation Cloud, they can log in to it and they can check their respective process. If any issue is there or if it is failed, they can rerun it and they can understand the required detail from UiPath Automation Cloud. It is definitely beneficial for them.
We have created Insight, Orchestrator Insight. We have leveraged Orchestrator Insight particularly to monitor each RPA process twenty-four seven.
What needs improvement?
UiPath Automation Cloud now requires a specialized license to make a process as unattended. There is an availability of a session option, but that is for a limited time period. Only for a limited time period can we enable it, and later on it is changed to an unattended bot.
Only for legacy applications are we facing some issues sometimes. For most of the Windows and desktop applications, it is working as expected. There has been more enhancement on the selector side, so it is very easy for us to get a selected detail and it is working as expected. There are no issues or complaints about the selectors or desktop or web-based applications. Only legacy applications we might face some issues sometimes. Because legacy applications were developed with old technology, we are definitely facing some issues. We might use computer vision to overcome those issues.
The main concerns are cost involvement and a new feature called ScreenPlay. ScreenPlay works based on the prompt that we are giving, but it consumes more artificial intelligence units. That is also a new complaint raised from the client side.
For how long have I used the solution?
I used UiPath Automation Cloud for about four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
UiPath Automation Cloud has approximately ninety-nine percent stability. We face no issues. Initially we faced many issues, such as extracting the asset details from the Orchestrator, which caused our bot to fail, or uploading the queue details which caused our bot to fail. However, we do not face those issues now.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I do not have an idea about the scalability of UiPath Automation Cloud because most of my clients worked based on the process details, but I never had any issues. Process-wise, I can explain scalability to you, but on UiPath Automation Cloud, I cannot answer that question.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
At some point in time, one of my clients fully converted or wanted to migrate from UiPath to Power Automate. I am very confident that UiPath can cope with their process very efficiently. However, they are moving to Power Automate because of cost involvement. Maybe the cost involvement they might reduce to some level. According to the Indian amount in rupees, I can use Power Automate for one thousand rupees, which is approximately ten dollars or nine dollars. However, I cannot do the same for a UiPath robot.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is very simple. Actually, the client does not want to do anything. I recently worked three or four months ago for a Norway client, and it is very easy for them to implement the cloud, specifically the UiPath Automation Cloud setup. The UiPath team can work on client details and they have fed the client details and they will share the UiPath cloud details for them. They simply want to log in to UiPath Automation Cloud and provide the required access to their folks. The setup is very, very simple.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The only concern is cost involvement.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Blue Prism is a main competitor for UiPath Automation Cloud. Since there has been no new improvement in the last three or four years, there has been no improvement in Blue Prism. Based on my old colleague's details, they have a good selector. They have technology that can spy the selector very easily and it is very accurate.
What other advice do I have?
Functionality wise, I do not have any complaint about UiPath Automation Cloud because for the last seven years, UiPath has been my bread and butter. I do not have any complaint about UiPath Automation Cloud. It is working as expected. Any product they have compared with UiPath Automation Cloud, definitely UiPath is a champion. I gave this product a review rating of ten out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
