We use NGINX for redirection services. For instance, if someone wants to redirect one URL to another one, we use it for that, as well as domain name holding pages. We do domain registrations at our company, and if somebody registers a domain name but doesn't have any services set up on there, then we put up a holding page for that domain name.
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature in NGINX is the dynamic configuration that is available. NGINX has improved the organization through the ability to dynamically set a back end resource given the particular domain name that's coming in.
What needs improvement?
I really can't say what should be improved in NGINX because they offer excellent activity via different means to different back ends. You can have a Lua interface, Lua configuration, to connect to MySQL, to multiple things. I really don't know what else they could do right now to improve what they do.
I can't think of any feature that I would like to see added to NGINX now.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using NGINX for ten to twelve years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability of NGINX as a ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
On a scale from one to ten, I would rate the scalability of NGINX as a nine.
How are customer service and support?
I can't rate technical support because I've never used their technical support; everything's been very straightforward.
How was the initial setup?
It was very straightforward to deploy it.
What was our ROI?
Absolutely, I see a return on investment.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
In my opinion, the price of NGINX is favorable since it's an open source product, and we haven't had to pay for that. There are different versions of NGINX, and we use the open source one. There are some paid ones they offer, but we don't need to use those because their source provides everything we need.
What other advice do I have?
To someone who would like to use this product, I would definitely recommend giving it a try because of its ease of configuration and ease of deployment, and the uptime is phenomenal. I would rate this product 9.5 out of 10.
