Pros and Cons
  • "IDOL has several important visual analytics, like face recognition and object detection and recognition."
  • "There is room for improvement in some very important capabilities in visual analytics. They have been focusing on improving the face recognition algorithm. The accuracy of object detection could be improved as well and I know they are working on that at the moment."

What is our primary use case?

IDOL is primarily used in related artificial intelligence solutions, for example in global. It is also used for insight from unstructured, rich media content.

We are currently recording and getting insight from some people in a media stream. The client is interested in insights from very important objects. We are creating transcriptions (converting from speech to text and any other audio and video analytics) to help the client monitor unstructured media content.

What is most valuable?

IDOL has several important visual analytics, like face recognition and object detection and recognition. We currently have a customer interested in getting transcriptions of audio from some key persons. We also use IDOL to index content and implement some functionalities like enterprise searching capabilities.

What needs improvement?

If I am not wrong, IDOL is working to release improvements in new capabilities in the next six months. There is room for improvement in some very important capabilities in visual analytics. They have been focusing on improving the face recognition algorithm. The accuracy of object detection could be improved as well and I know they are working on that at the moment.

I would like to see some machine learning capabilities added to the next release.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have about a decade of experience with IDOL.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

IDOL is stable and will get even more so with the new release.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

IDOL is a scalable solution. If a client needs to process more unstructured media content, they can scale IDOL both linearly and vertically. You can scale this solution very easily.

How are customer service and support?

IDOL's tech support needs improvement. Sometimes we have some issues that they are working for some time, but I think I consider that the support could be better.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was a little difficult because we did not have enough knowledge of this product and it does need to be configured and set precisely. There are so many parameters that you have to know to make a correct configuration of this product.

What other advice do I have?

My advice is: gain a deeply understanding of the technology. To configure and set the product correctly, you need to be aware of a lot of parameters and related technology.
