Pros
"I like this solution because it is complete. It can scan and check many types of vulnerabilities. It can also check for compliance.""It gives a holistic view of your entire environment.""The most valuable features are that it's fast, it's easy to use and it provides good reports.""I have experience with it on my attack stations, and it's pretty good to optimize. Personally, I think Nessus is quite a good product.""The most valuable feature is the breadth of vulnerabilities that it finds. It's able to find across a lot of different platforms and operating systems. It's also able to combine local testing with network-based testing.""With the Tenable Nessus enterprise edition, you have unlimited licenses to scan the device.""Easy to set up vulnerability scanner with good stability and a responsive technical support team.""Nessus' most valuable feature is vulnerability management because it helps to discover vulnerabilities proactively and integrates with patch management solutions so you can push patches."

"Very customizable with a lot of templates.""The tool's dashboard and reporting capabilities match our company's needs since we are able to modify the basic view to create a new dashboard, and it works out very well for our needs.""The product is our second solution, and we are happy that it meets our requirements.""Has a great advanced scanning feature.""The tool provides us insight into the happens of the network and its hosts. It provides me with a list of hosts.""We really love the Security Center dashboard. Cons
"They have added a new Tenable Nessus Expert. That is their new product, which caters to the cloud and everything else. I am assuming that the new features and product enhancements are based on that tool set, but we haven't reviewed it yet.""The reports are okay, but the interface is a bit difficult to navigate in some cases.""I have found it is sometimes difficult to control the Zoom meeting sessions. For example, it is difficult to know who is talking and when trying to mute everyone but the speaker you end up muting everyone. When using multiple screens it is laborious to find the control buttons, such as to start a session. Additionally, when a recording is done I have found it difficult to find them, there should be an easier way to retrieve them.""Remediation needs improvement.""The report for counters is too simple and would be improved by a dashboard.""There should be a possibility to install agents on scanned machines. Tenable IO provides the capability of using local agents to check local problems, but this feature is not there in Tenable Nessus Professional. It would be nice to have something similar in Tenable Nessus Professional. We should have the capability to use local agents installed on the machines to locally check a problem.""We would like to have the option of using the solution for the cloud as well as on-premises with the same license at the same time. That would be very helpful.""Tenable Nessus could improve the price."

"The pricing is reasonable, but this could be brought down more aggressively, such as we see with Rapid7, Tenable SC's main competitor.""I think the vendor training provided for Tenable.sc could be a lower price. It's quite expensive for the training.""Though the solution's technical support is responsive, they do take a lot of time, making it one of the solution's shortcomings that needs improvement.""Tenable SC could improve by making the creation of the initial reports easier that correspond to our network.""The solution should provide better web application features and support.""The solution needs to improve the vulnerability assessment because we have experienced some challenges with accuracy.""We are facing some challenges related to our channel.""The integration is very good, although it still needs to improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is much more manageable versus other products."
  • "The price of Tenable Nessus is much more competitive versus other solutions on the market."
  • "I think the price is fairly affordable. It provides a license that is fair."
  • "Nowadays, your vulnerability applications are going to be kind of pricey because lots of them, including Rapid7, are based upon a base price, but then they add in the nodes. That's where they get you. If you're a big network, obviously, you need to scan everything. Therefore, it's going to be costly. The risk and insurance money associated with having ransomware on my networks is going to cost me more money, time, and marketing than the price of the tool. That's why I'm speaking only as an information security officer to security operations. This is the tool that is there in my toolbox to say whether we vulnerable or not. At this point, I don't care about how much it costs my company to have it because if I wasn't able to report it and we got ransomware, then who cares? I'm probably going to be out of business because it happened. That's why I don't care about the price. I have it, and I could use it effectively and do my report. At the end of the day, even if we get ransomware, as long as I reported it, followed my protocol, and put in the change, irrespective of whether it was ignored or denied, I did my job."
  • "We pay approximately $2,500 on a yearly basis."
  • "We have a subscription, the licensing fees are paid yearly, and I am using the latest version."
  • "We incurred a single cost for a perpetual license, although I cannot comment on the price as this is above my management level."
  • "The price is reasonable."

  • "It is slightly more expensive than other solutions in the same sphere."
  • "We're able to save because we don't have to employ more staff members to help wit ht he scheduling of the scans, running the reports or sending them out to the systems owners. That alone is a big ROI for us."
  • "The licensing costs for this solution are approximately $100,000 US, and I think that covers everything."
  • "The pricing is more than Nexpose."
  • "Costing is pretty reasonable compared to the competition."
  • "We're a Fortune 500 company... our licensing costs [are] in the seven figures."
  • "We pay around 60,000 on a yearly basis."
  • "The price can start at €10,000 ($13,000 USD) for between 500 and 1,000 assets, and the price can climb into the millions as more assets are added."
